Food was good but service needs improvement due to rude servers. Besides that - manager made up for it and treated us right (reason for 4 stars)

Lovely place to grab breakfast/brunch, but be warned it gets packed! The service was fantastic, we were seated right away with a party of 6 regardless of the placed being busy. They have an event center next door that we were placed in that was much quieter & enjoyable. The larger parties were seated here. The manager even found a speaker to play music in the background. The food was delicious. The portions were very large. The cheese was good. You get a choice of rosemary potatoes or hash browns on the side. The hot coffee was not very good although it looks pretty, the iced coffee was fantastic! They have an espresso machine they use to make the iced drinks. The croque monsuire was good if you like a lot of cheese. I do wish I would have gotten some French toast or eggs Benedict though.Large parties require the gratuity charge factored in which is why they prioritize the large parties, but it was nice being seated away from all the noise in the main room. Definitely would eat here again! The food was hot, fresh, great service, and quick to sit down. They also give out complimentary beignets!!!

Cheryl's looks great from the outside and in as it is very inviting and quaint for it's larger size. We arrived for breakfast and it was packed on a Thursday at 9 AM.The staff is friendly, accomodating and helpful with menu questions and that menu is deep with dishes that sound delicious. We ordered a Croque monsieur (ham and gruyere on grilled French bread with mornay sauce) with a side of potatoes. It sounds like it would be packed with flavor but it was not. My friend had to put an enormous amount of seasoning on it for it to become average. Wow! I ordered a an Apple Fritwich, which is apple fritter grilled with smoked gouda, cheddar, bacon jam and some greens. It was very good as the sweet and savory was a contrast that I'd never tasted before. The problem was that after the first three to four bites the sandwich got dull quickly. It also is very heavy. Order it if you wish to take a mid morning nap.I would eat here again but only for lunch after going 0-2 in breakfast choices.

The minute my daughter picked me up from the airport, breakfast-for-lunch was calling. These folks offer a kids menu- but seriously though, Chery'ls breakfast is all grown up and we were here for it. Founded by a husband+wife duo, if you're looking for one of the best breakfasts Portland has to offer, most agree- based on reviews, Cheryl's is the place to go. The high ceilings are very industrial influence- but it's those bistro-type chairs and tables that add a touch of soft to the entire place. The space is just stunning. It's a popular place and I can almost see folks queuing for breakfast and lunch. If you like your breakfast somewhat on the interesting side, come here. My daughter's been here before- but the few times I've visited her, somehow, I've bypassed this place. My grown kid decided on the kids menu Challah French Toast with lemon curd and fresh whip. Thankfully, she went for the kids version instead of the regular 2-slice Fr. toast- because even the 1 slice the kid got, was too rich and she barely finished the other half. At a whopping $29.95, my crab+spinach+ cherry tomato omelette and topped with Gruyère and mornay sauce, was a monster. And in true Portland style, it was all crab and none of the orange artificial stuff. Another thing to note, instead of the typical 'bread basket', these folks bring to the table the fluffiest beignets. We were salivating! I could go on and on about the breakfast my daughter and I had here, but you need to try it for yourself. And by the way, our server was spot on and pleasant! .

Cheryl's on 12th is a solid stop if you are in the area of downtown Portland for work. The eggs benedict are always on point, with perfectly poached eggs and a rich, creamy hollandaise. The cheesy potatoes are a must-try! Savory and indulgent, they add the perfect touch to any breakfast. Service is friendly and quick, making it easy to grab a great meal and still be on time for your day.

This place was pretty close to our hotel so we thought we'd give it a try. We came on a Sunday morning and a table for 2 was about a 15 minute wait. We were seated outside, down the block because they were extremely busy, but it was nice outside so we didn't mind. Also, the server was still very attentive so it was great. We ordered mimosas for the table. We tried it with lavender and guava. They were more like a purer to add to the champagne, rather than juice. It was different but tasted than what we were used to, but we liked it. The crab benedict is a must try with the grits. The croque madame was good. I would've definitely skipped the potatoes. They were overcooked and a little dry. All in all, an amazing breakfast spot! Service was fantastic and food was yummy.

Great breakfast spot in downtown Portland. We came here Sunday morning and the place was packed. After five minutes they were able to free a table for us. We ordered some coffee and juice, the fried rice and the quiche Lorraine. Staff is super friendly and you realize why the place is so popular. The food was great. The fried rice with linguica sausage is a perfect combo. The quiche was also really good. If you're in the area check it out. The portion size is also generous, so can easily also be enough for dinner. Also got some complimentary beignets which was a nice touch.

This is one of the best brunch spots in town truly. They are open until 4 but really I see it as a brunch spot. The location can be tricky to find parking but there is a garage across the street if you can snag a street spot. The entrance has a fairly good size foyer and holds quite a few people... and it is most often FULL. You will often see the owners themselves walking along the line providing samples and small bites to those who wait. Although you walk in and see dining area there is a whole lot more down behind the kitchen. The kitchen is an open concept where you can watch what is going on. The location has a full bar and espresso area that you can order from your seat. They have the drinks on the menu as well both suggested alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. They serve fresh hot beignets at the table sort of like table bread only better. The orange juice and coffee drinks are great. The Apple Frittwich, Croque Monsieur, Croque Madame and French toast will not disappoint if you like those things. Check out the Portuguese fried rice as well. Service can take a few minutes because... well they are busy but the service staff is top notch. Not a CHEAP brunch but a good brunch. You should give it a go.

Im a foodie, so I always enjoy dining at new spots. My daughters friend gave a few suggestions and wanted to try Cheryl's on 12th. Let me get the bad out of the way. I made reservations online for 10:15 a.m., but we still waited about 20+ minutes. I asked if I could have a cup of coffee while we wait, and the front host said no because there's no way to charge me for it if I'm not seated. Hmmm, add it to my bill later or cash me out? Oh well, after we were seated, everything was much better. I ordered the Portuguese Sausage Fried Rice, and it was good. It had a few pieces of sausage, and I couldn't finish it. This dish can be shared. Idk what the fried dough was, but it too was delicious. Overall, it's a great brunch spot.

I ran in for a quick lunch and loved the beignet and butternut squash soup. I got a sandwich that just wasn't for me and the incredibly kind manager, Christina, did everything to turn the experience around. She didn't charge me for it, offered to bring me something else, gave me a gift card for next visit and a cinnamon roll to go. Just such a great experience!
