Chan's Garden

This is what I think about when I think of Chinese takeout. The portions are great and the staff is very friendly. However, the food itself is subpar compared to what I expect. I enjoyed it don't get me wrong, but I think there was a lot of unseasoned items. The chicken was great, but the fried rice tasted burnt and like there was no salt on it. Eggrolls were good.

We live near Chans and tonight was our best meal yet!! We had teriyaki chicken, broccoli chicken and my most fav the pot stickers! Thanks Peter!!

I'm only giving it 1 star because there is no option for 0 stars. This was our first encounter with this restaurant and I hope people read this and don't go in there. We were hit with an awful must smell the second we walked in. Standing there looking at their menu, I almost left just from the smell. She quoted 15 minutes which ran into 30 minutes. On our way home I was so hungry I put my hand in the bag of bread sticks that were a topping for our food. They were so stale that the taste lingered in my mouth and made me want to throw up. Once home I immediately threw them out. We opened the soup and dug in. Only to have to toss that out as well from a horrible taste. The fried shrimp was fine although I prefer to have mine without tails on them. The Mongolian beef wasn't as spicy as other places which I appreciated. The sesame chicken didn't have any sesames on them and the chicken tasted a bit passed due date. The price was pretty high for what we had ordered, and then to top it off with the not good taste, it was a totally waste of money. My eight year old ended up throwing up a few hours later and my husband and I have both been bathroom bound. Not worth a dime and won't be going back.

If you like authentic Chinese food, this is the place for you. The servers here do a great job providing excellent service as well as food!

Gave this place a shot hoping to find some secret gem in Milwaukie. This wasn't it. Man behind counter was "busy" with his paper and seemed to want me to hurry with my to go order. Got upset when I only wanted one entree (?), and was annoyed when I said I'd go play a few dollars in the slot room since he quoted me 10-15 minutes on my order. Well I'm not just gonna sit there on my phone. The man behind the counter was also the cook. A horrible one at that. It was all just meh. Nothing stood out. Will not be returning.

I have to agree with the previous reviewers. We've eaten there over the last few years, usually as take-out and because it's close and convenient. But I've had to ask the spouse to not pick up food there again. The place is dirty, for starters. And that's just the front -- can't imagine what the kitchen looks like, which you can't see, but through the doorway you can see boxes and old junk stacked up. Just like behind their main counter. Nothing looks clean. And there's vitamin bottles and such. Weird. The tables are sticky. Everything just looks old and worn out, and dirty. I get a little queasy just looking at the place before I even eat the food. The food -- well, it's not consistent. Sometimes a dish we like will be really good and actually taste fresh. Next time we get it, it just tastes like old oil and no flavor. And it's not super cheap or anything, so it's not worth the trade off to take a cut in quality. I'm guessing they make enough money on their lounge and lotto that they don't really care about making the restaurant special.

This restaurant has great Egg Foo Yung. The owners are delightful and work really hard. The gentleman / owner was recently injured when attacked by an off-leash dog. Please support this small business and give the Egg Foo Yung a try. I've tried it different places and the patty and gravy are very tasty! I hope you enjoy it!!

We don't have an option for zero stars. We order a little of everything. We got sick almost immediately after we ate. We live near this restaurant and my spouse really wanted to try it. We will never ever be back! We want everyone to know not to set the feet in this store. Only if you want to deathly sick of days.

We've been going here since I was born. My grandfather used to go in and talk to the owners and taught them some English back then. The family that runs it has always been super nice and friendly. Food has always been consistent and great.
