Cha Ya Kitchen

This was one of the first spots I ate at when I discovered the Hawthorne Asylum food carts pod and it has remained one of my favorite go-to for their pork belly fries! Without a doubt, the pork belly fries would be the first things I order when I walk into the food cart area; definitely must try! Generally, the service takes anywhere from 15 - 30 minutes depending how busy it gets (There's usually only 1 person working there). But it shouldn't deter you because it's part of a pod with other food carts so you can snack on other food under the string lights as you wait for your order from Cha Ya!

Opted for Cha Ya after walking over to Hawthorne Asylum. Price was fair for what you get. $13 for a Steak Bowl over rice that felt like it had a lot of meat in it. Nice egg to add a little flavor variation and a good sauce. Food was very good (in fact someone in our group couldn't keep their fork out of my bowl!) and the size was good enough that I was able to save half for later. Would definitely return.

Stopped at Cartopia food trucks for a labor day lunch in Portland and decided to go with a basil chicken rice bowl topped with an egg. It came out in less than 10 mins which I was super happy about given some of the other trucks were claiming over 30 min waits to get your order! I liked the flavor and spice of the chicken, but found the bowl to be extremely dry. There was an overwhelming amount of rice that did not match the proportion of chicken given, making it difficult to enjoy as my bites were almost fully rice. Additionally, the egg was way overcooked so I could barely cut into it with a fork..made it tough to eat, especially since I only had a fork. Overall, definitely wasn't a top notch food truck experience! Given this was something so basic, I had a lot higher expectations!!

I've had the spicy chicken bowl multiple times. It's always super fresh and delicious. All the flavors are perfect, and the food comes out fast. Be aware the spice packs a real punch!

I loved their pork belly fries with Sriracha dipping sauce. The pork belly was very soft, flavorful with a little bit of chewy in it. I also love the coconut water! I don't know what it was, but I feel like this coconut water tastes better than the coconut water I've had straight from the coconuts in Hawaii!

Went on a busy Friday night- had the peanut tofu bowl - super good! Will order again soon.

I've tried several things so far and among my favorites are the budda bowls, thai iced tea, and pork belly fries. Everything is so good!

Delicious food!! I ordered the chicken nd basil stir fry. It reminded me of real Thai street food and my taste buds were very happy! Loved the spiciness level also (I ordered it spicy). It was all cooked to perfection and I will now be craving this dish from Cha ya!

This burrito was HUGE! When i got the pad Thai burrito i was surprised at how big it was for only $13. When i took a bite into it, the noodles and tofu were so flavorful. The peanut sauce on the side enhanced the flavor of the burritos. Towards the end of the burrito, it got hard to hold because there was a lot of filling. It was fine tho since there was already a plate under it and a fork when i picked it up.

This spot is so good!! Love love love their pork belly fries! The sauce is to die for and the pork belly is so yummy!
