Canary

Tired out this new place and was impressed with the food! They were running a smoked ribs special and it was some of the best I have ever had!!! Amazing dry rub with some good kick to it! So good!!! Also had brussel sprouts which were super tasty as well. Nice place and a good addition to the neighborhood! Oh, also have a shuffle board and pool table. Will be back!

We recently added this delightful and welcoming place to our Friday early dinner repertoire of restaurants we visit in the area. Every time we go, we fall in love with it all over again. There's a sweet and comfy lounge area with sofas and coffee tables for intimate conversations, as well as table and chairs for eating or enjoying a drink. There's also pool tables and a couple of spaces in the back for video games and karaoke. What we most love, is that they make an excellent black Manhattan and the chicken and waffles and chicken sandwich are excellent. REAL syrup! We highly recommend this delicious neighborhood space.

This place is interesting. My husband and I checked this place out last night. The bartender was nice and provided us with quick service. There were not a lot of patrons there when we went. This made for an empty feeling and made the largeness of the space more apparent. The decorations are such that it seems like a thrift store. I almost expected to see price tags on everything. I hear they have live music, but not while we were there. We did not get any food, but the menu looked pretty good. Might have to go back on the weekend to try brunch.

I found myself wondering what to eat and was thinking chicken tenders will do but don't want fries then I remembered about Canary where I get tenders on a waffle for the same price as a couple tenders with fries elsewhere. It did not disappoint, the tenders were large and the waffle was delicious (comes with melted butter and syrup of course). There some spice in the waffle that I couldn't place but made it unique and could see it being a great fall and winter dish.Having been there a couple times prior the burger is also good and the waffle fries. The sweet potato are as well but a whole side is a bit much for me. The last times they were also out of a beer on the board each time which was weird opposed to taking it down or having a backup keg.I enjoyed with the music and they have a couple tvs as well. Staff has always been really nice as well.

They have a pool table and an interesting shuffle board table, outside patio and the place has been extensively updated since it was the Lombard pub. Beers are about a $1 cheaper than most places to boot. Good neighborhood hang.

A perfectly cozy, contemporary cut-above the local dive bars (which have their own charm, to be sure), Canary has a cool but not 'too cool for you' energy, a stellar menu, and a really great owner that seems to understand the locals have dozens of options but CHOOSE to come here. Bravo, Canary! Will be returning to get me some of that chicken & waffle love!

I've never felt more immediately welcomed than when I came in here tonight. Greetings, smiles, recommendations, light teasing, and history. Love it.

The team here is so fun and kind! Live music, good vibes, and tasty drinks great neighborhood spot!

Minors not allowed, unfortunately. We figured we could take our son to breakfast here, but no luck.

This place is our go to for great live jazz! The relaxed and low key local bar vibe makes for a comfortable and very pleasant evening. It doesn't hurt that the fried chicken sandwich, fries and beer selection is spot on, either!
