"Such a wonderful, intimate restaurant. I don't know why I don't see it written up in more places! The wine selection is always stellar and the food is rich. The restaurant owner is really passionate about all their offerings, he is extremely helpful with pairings and understanding the menu. This is a birthday spot for us every year, we look forward to coming back!"

"The Uncanny is amazing! It looks like you're walking into a haunted house, and in the bathroom, they have a mirror that makes you look like a ghost! The bar itself is very cool, the kind of place you want to hang out. The people who work are there are super nice, friendly, and accommodating. There's plenty of outdoor seating in front and to the side. There's even a fireplace out front for cold days. As of the summer 2024, they have been collabing with Grass Fed PDX and Dinger's Deli to serve vegan lunch 11am-4pm Thurs-Sun and vegan dinner 4pm-1am everyday. The cheezsteak hoagie I ordered for lunch was SO GOOD. You must go here if you haven't been. So so good."
"It's been a while since I visited this place. I liked that they have a great outdoor seating area that's covered. I had the French Dip and a side of fries. I enjoyed the beef from the sandwich, and the dip made the meat better. The fries were off good size to share with another person. Overall, it was a good place to go to, and i would go back for happy hour."
"First time back in ~20 years from when they were located on SE Ankeny. Wow, I knew I was walking into a top notch wine venue, but I had mediocre expectations of the food. Everything our table of four ordered was top notch, so good. The potato and leek soup was creamy, full of flavor, and an ample portion. The Halibut juicy, the brown butter vinaigrette heavenly. The homemade spaghetti was a hit.My favorite item was the Burrata small plate which included fried capers. It's ample enough to serve as an entree. The only meh item was the pickle plate. The Peanut Butter and Jelly dessert is their marquee item for good reason: get it. The creme brûlée about par for the course. The server was professional and thorough, a little too much upsell, but polite about it."
"During our trip we craved Mexican food food, but wanted something away from the traditional, and more towards the elegant, modern side of the cuisine. Toro delivered!Located in the heart of the Pearl District, this swanky, modern, well decorated restaurant with an upscale, quiet mood that screams "dinner and drinks" with a romantic, date vibe. After being seated we selected a glass of local wines, and ordered our entrees to the delight of our server. Our order consisted of a glass of Pike Road Pinot Noir, a glass of Colombia Composition Red Blend, Carne Asada Taco Entree, Enchilada de Pollo con Lima Entree, Broccoli Rabb, and chips & Salsa. Rich (our server) returned after a brief moment to pour and present our glasses of wine, and shortly thereafter he returned with our Entrees on plates that were scorching to the touch. The food was exquisite and extremely delicious, and paired well with our wine selections. Rich returned frequently to ensure that everything was perfect, and we even chatted about local happenings, and current events as we dined. The Carne Asada was some of the best beef I have ever tasted, and the Chicken in the Enchiladas was tender, juicy, and shredded to perfection. If you are ever in Portland, and want Mexican, I highly recommend "Toro", your date will absolutely approve."
"We went to The Portland Bottle Shop on one of our latest trips there. We wanted a bottle shop with a large can selection of local breweries and we definitely found that here and purchased quite a few cans to take home that nicely met those specifications. The great thing was not only did they have a good selection to take home in cans but they also served food and had beer on tap. We both got a beer, Steve and I to go along with our meal. For lunch I had a delicious Portobello Mushroom sandwich which was excellent! Very fresh ingredients and very, very flavorful. I haven't had this particular mushroom in a while and it was great to have it in this sandwich! Lots of other promising sandwich and lunch options as well!I'd love to come back because not only was the food great but this location is in a neighborhood I'm not familiar with at all and I would love to explore it some more!"
"You won't find a more knowledgeable guy or a better selection in Portland. Many many Oregon wines, and a comfy space to try them."
"Very cool spot. Went to see a family member's band here this week, and it was wonderful. The space is small, but, so charming, and don't think the word is out yet, so a great time to go. Everything and I mean everything is intentional. From the drinks, food and glassware to the incredible custom wood bar top, and even the restroom that has an almost hidden wood door, flush to the wall. Staff is great here, friendly and even placed our bottle back into the cooler to keep cold. And, I would totally go with a bottle here is in a group or just alone, as you can take it with you. And, a fantastic Rose for $30?! Amazing! Oh, absolutely one more thing, the large trees out front perfectly shade the outdoor space, so on a 80 degree or more day, it's cool and shady. Didn't get to try the pizza or flatbread, it looked so good, as they ran out, but next time!"
"It's been a little bit over a decade of excellence for Ox, which has ascended into one of Portland's top dining destinations. In addition to numerous local accolades that include The Oregonian's Restaurant of the Year, husband and wife chef duo Greg Denton and Gabrielle Quiñonez are also winners of the prestigious James Beard award, which has cemented Ox into legendary status while catapulting their name onto the national stage. For Portland standards, they are a perpetual date night and special occasion dining destination. Their contemporary and minimalist decor makes for an ideal ambiance and the open kitchen with all the intoxicating aromas of their Argentine inspired grilled meats make it a sensory pleasure from the start. While the main draw is their meats, the rest of the menu skews into a more eclectic European feel, presented largely in tapas form. So many things stand out that it's hard to narrow down anything completely. So I'll break down the various items that I have enjoyed:Asado Argentino for 2 ($125): This is the stuff meat dreams were made of. This plate includes a protein packed collection of house chorizo and morcilla sausages, grilled short rib, skirt steak, sweetbreads, fried potatoes, and a salad. This dish was 100% my highlight and I would have happily ordered this for myself.Beef Ribeye Steak ($70): Order it medium rare to rare, and it's pink to the touch and perfection on a plate. The fat-to-meat marbling is sensational and the quality of the meat is evident with every bite. The only cruel part? It's only 16 oz.Cowboy Ribeye Steak ($170): As the priciest meat cut in the house, it's also the juiciest and most impressive of all the steaks. The 42oz of meat is bone-in, and takes a minimum of 45 minutes to prepare. I would say this is a steak that's a bit more shareable and in terms of taste, just simply outstanding.Fresh Clam Chowder w/Smoked Bone Marrow ($23): It feels like a bit of a gimmick with the bone marrow and all, but the clam chowder is dynamite. The bone marrow, if generous, is also a nice palate pleaser with its rich and indulgent texture and the jalapeño gives the soup a nice added kick.Maple Glazed Heirloom Carrots ($16): One of the most impressive things about Ox is their selection of vegan / vegetable dishes and my favorite is far and away this simple side of carrots. It's sweet, it's addicting, and it's downright beautiful. Order all the meat, but don't forget this dish.I can't sing the praises of the staff enough. They're professional, super knowledgeable about the history of the establishment and the makeup of the food. When plotting my dining options for Portland feasting, Ox will always be on the list of places to consider. My photos: https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/ox-portland?userid=ysCBsXWPB-LAiewVS3jZfQ"

We have been satisfied customers since 2018 and have dined in and COVID take away more than a dozen times. Jon and his crew has never disappointed. Yes there have been highs and lows with the lows never derailing. This small classic French Bistro accommodates 22 per seating on a packed night. Reservations are a must. Tonight there three parties who were repeat customers think they can show up on a Friday at 7pm and expect there are open seats. We were fortunate to benefit from a new menu that consistently plays on classic French bistro faire based on fresh and seasonal ingredient's. Love to find the comforts of a classic baguette, pate, fresh greens and flavorful entree offerings. The wine list changes weekly and I would recommend allowing John to pair your wines with your order. We settled on Baguette, Fresh Greens, Scallops, salmon and friendly banter with staff. Once again not a disappointing night out.

Or visit to Café Nell was fortuitous, as the nearby restaurant we'd planned on checking out was unceremoniously closed during their posted operating hours (both online and terrestrial), for some unknown reason. We looked for something similar in the neighborhood, and this classy little bistro jumped out at us, having both an intriguing brunch menu and an adorable aesthetic.Upon arrival, and lacking a reservation, we were informed that the only available tables were inside (awesome!), and were seated immediately. Pleasantly surprised to see a variant of one of my favorite cocktails (the Rusty Nail) on the drink menu, I ordered the Kentucky Nail to go with my chicken paillard, while my wife ordered the French 75, a sort of sparkling lemon gimlet, along with the shrimp and grits; I'm still flabbergasted that she didn't order the Dungeness crab mac & cheese! In both cases, the entrées were incredible; the shrimp and grits, an elevated home-cookin' comfort classic, hit all the right notes. Meanwhile, the chicken paillard was a complex amalgam of savory, sweet and sour, unified by the acerbic mustard vinaigrette dressing drizzled over both greens and fowl, it's only weakness being there wasn't enough of it. This would be my only complaint about our dining experience here: without the presence of an included side dish, this otherwise exemplary dish seemed a little exorbitantly priced for the size of the portion, yet not enough to be a detraction. Still, those with larger appetites should plan, and order, accordingly. As gorgeous as the covered outdoor seating is, especially as it was on the warm Sunday morning in which we visited, the interior décor is no slouch, with its upscale-diner-meets-Parisian-boutique vibe. It's cute, cozy, and intimate, particularly after sunset, when the lighting manifests a moodier, duskier, more sultry ambiance. Perfect for a date night!Portioning and pricing taken into consideration, a meal at Café Nell is still a worthwhile experience. They do things differently enough to stand out among their competitors, offering some truly incredible dishes, uncommonly great (and uncommonly encountered) cocktails, and stellar service, all packaged together in a charming little corner space that wouldn't seem out of place in any of the 20 Parisian arrondissements...which is saying something, because this is ostensibly an American café. When you can stand toe-to-toe with the culinary colossus that is French cuisine and culture, you're doing something VERY right.

Got some good cocktails and small bites from this bar in Burnside. It has a classy yet casual feel. Noble Rot is known for the bar upstairs. Has pretty okay prices for the location. The upstairs has pretty good views. Cocktails are the best things to get. It's also got a food menu. There's mostly the usual fried stuff. A lot of it is meaty. Seriously few good things for vegans and vegetarians. It's about $10 for the cheapest cocktails. The best we had was Sex With A View. Also it's the name of the cocktail we got. This is made with apricot, cranberry, lavender, lime, Monopolowa vodka, and pineapple. It's about $10 for appetizers. The only good one they had was the Onion Rings. Has a pretty cool atmosphere. It's located on East Burnside Street at 11th. This is closed on Sundays.

We came in on a Friday at 5:30 and it was a beautiful day in April so everyone was out and about. The restaurant was 30% full when we arrived and we did have a reservation so it was easy.Food delicious. Favorites are the Trio de Ceviche and the Beef Taquitos! I could eat those all night :)Our server was fine but actually everyone else we interacted with either serving the dishes or drinks were genuinely warm and welcoming. It started to get very busy but they didn't miss a beat!Love the ambiance. Very light and bright and makes you want to get a drink! My favorite cocktail is the Passionfruit and my husband enjoyed the Hibiscus. The Mango cocktail was good but felt too sweet after having the Passionfruit one. Oh! If you make it in from 4-6pm for happy hour, house cocktails are $10 instead of the normal $14

"What a cute little spot ! We stopped to have a glass of wine and were thoroughly impressed by the food and service. We sat outside at the patio which is where I saw all the other customers seated as well. They also had plenty of seating inside as well . One of the drawbacks of sitting outside was the constant yelling by some of the unhoused who were hanging out right next to us and at times directly yelled to our faces .I wouldn't say it was particularly unsafe but the proximity did make me be on edge for the entirety of my visit. I got a glass of Bordeaux and the hubby got a pinot noir. We got the two cheese n two meet combo which they let you guide them on your preference . We also had burrata with tomatoes and squash which was just divine . Everything was fresh and delectable and the wine just right for the food.Service was attentive without being too overbearing ."
"How is it possible I forgot the guy's name that made my wine tasting so enjoyable??!?!We stumbled upon this place after having oysters across the street and couldn't help the weird sign they had outside. Weird things attract me.... & Plus, how could you NOT go in to "Portland's Weirdest Wine Shop & Bar." You come in and you're surrounded by weird/cool things with of course bottles of wine on shelves. I went in for wine tasting and this was MORE fun than going to wineries. I guess not quite, because there's the lack of view, but the variety and experience is cool. I did about 5 tastings which are catered to YOUR likes. He asks a series of questions to get to know your taste buds and see which pairs well with your taste and food. The fact that this is a wine shop/bar, he's able to let you try many of the wines they have so you're not stuck with the same wine. Besides the weird sign outside, I was actually trying to find a bottle of wine that paired well with my salmon and alfredo pasta dinner. And yes, I did end up leaving with a bottle. ****Look out for some wine collaborations they do. In the past they've had Wonder Woman, Game of Thrones, and Buffy the Vampire."
"Fullerton Wines is such a gem! It's a family-owned business, and you really get a sense of that when you visit! The wines are delicious, and the food has a really refreshing Scandinavian spin to it. But the real highlight are the trivia nights on Thursdays! My partner and I always have a blast and can't wait to return."
"Superior dining experience thanks to our delightful and attentive server Benji. Really felt like he went above and beyond for us.Recommend the ravioli, bruschetta, and the cacio e pepe pasta is delicious with prawns added. Ambience is nice and waters were always filled. Best service in West Linn. Highly recommend."
"Fuoco!! Deliciousness in every bite! Conveniently booked on Open Table. We got there a bit early, before they opened. So we got a drink across the street at Crush. Fantastic experience from start to finish. We sat on the wine bar side - at the bar top. I highly recommend sitting on this side - especially on a date. They had Happy Hour items to choose from as well. We got the Focaccia & ciabatta Nostrana - Yum! The Insalata Nostrana - I could have had this as my meal. Fresh flavors and crispy croutons to compliment. We both split the Paglia e fieno + the Radiatori al ragù. The Radiatori al ragù had the most amazing cheese grated on top. It complimented the beef and pork. I couldn't put my fork down - it was perfection in each bite. The Paglia e fieno was light and airy despite being a fettitune style noodle. The scallop and lemon pairing was delicious and the plate came together harmoniously. Exceptional flavors and quality - packed with attentive service, beautiful ambiance and decor. Come check them out!"
"Bar Salut Cherie is a new Arbor Lodge neighborhood gem! My husband and I decided to check this French wine bar out for the first time tonight. Everything about this place it great! Customer service is more than on point. We had water filled to the brim the whole evening. The owner, Emid was fantastic to make recommendations of wine and food. He is clearly passionate about his business, the neighborhood, and the customers. I'm not the biggest fan of French wines historically, but I found some wines I was pretty fond of. I ordered the mussels.....SO GOOD!!!! I can't believe I have fine wine, and deviled eggs within walking distance to my house. Cheers!!"
"Stellar! Just stellar! From the ambiance, to the food and the wine selection - just outstanding. We loved every part of the experience and the food is such a delightful escape from the same options you get everywhere else in the city. Artful and flavors are on point and unexpected. I love the intimacy of the space and the service was spot on."
"This would be a one star... but the two stars is for the folks at Clarklewis who tried to help us and spent time trying things to accommodate us but this was a truly horrible time for me and a friend who had never been here before. At least, in the end, her food was good. Over the last year I have been attending a lot of events with a friend new to Portland and she is a vegan. I saw a few things about Veganuary where a few spots in Portland were offering vegan items where their menu might not normally have these options. I would never normally take a vegan here and was so delighted that they had a prix menu 3 course meal offered for a great price. It sounded delicious. I made a reservation through Yelp. I am not a vegan but I love food and I do cook quite a few plant based options myself and I eat a lot of plant based food. The difference is that I am not restricted. We went to our event and were early for our reservation. The restaurant seems a bit darker since my last visit - I appreciate low lighting but this is very near pitch. We were given menus and that was when the awkwardness started. The waiter said he was being shadowed by another person and it was her first day. Totally fine...the weird was that the new person seemed way more to know things than the waiter did who immediately seemed to not be paying attention to us at all. My friend asked if they had a separate menu for the vegan options they had for January. He seemed confused and say yes but said he needed to go ask. He eventually came back, was extremely dismissive saying that was no longer available, started mumbling something and we were confused trying to explain that was GENUINELY the reason we were there. VERY long story short and after a lot of back and forth where he would leave, go somewhere and come back basically telling my friend a bunch of vegetables...we were not understanding because he was just saying they would make 'something'... so we just get charged something for something? Finally his, manager? came over saying similar but it was well, we make pasta but that has egg so we can give you the dried gluten free, add veggies... I honestly checked out just figuring I would order off the regular menu since a Caesar salad sounded good but the entrees... nothing was really jumping out so I just went with the chicken. I was delighted with my glass of Malbec which was great since I was mortified I had talked up this restaurant to my friend. We were told by multiple people that the executive chef took time off and apparently is the only person who could cook the vegan menu. Questions about other items were similar - there was a lot of talk about things being pre made which I found just weird since it was like the whole regular menu was almost described like a TV dinner yet the vegan 3 course was this complex thing that only the executive chef could make. All i know is that there were two things I found delicious - the Malbec and my Caesar which I am glad was filling. My friend ordered a drink described by the staff and the menu a sweet. She was confused and had me taste it... I sent it back for her because it literally tasted like vinegar. She was embarrassed thinking that they would feel like she was just nonstop complaints which is when I sent the drink back. The waiter took it and stormed off while the person ho just started was so kind, coming back saying the bartender wanted to try to make her a drink - he did and she loved it. Luckily she also very much enjoyed her whole meal. I did not want to spoil anything for her and I expected the waiter to make a comment at the fact that I barely touched my entrée. When you are planning to assault a dish with that much fennel, I would expect a heads up or I would not have bothered. I then thought I would correct it and was happy to order a simple orange sorbet. It was served as a soup, it was so melted. The tiny amount that was not melted had a very stringy and awkward texture. It has been a really long time since I have been given this bad of a meal. When I got the sorbet I seriously was laughing wondering if that was a joke. We were just exhausted seriously - my poor friend was having a anxiety attack an I was just glad that her meal was good since I am the one who has all the options normally... well, I will chose another option in the future to not come here. The true perfect ending was that I had parked near the door as I am ADA. Some lovely human in a white Tesla parked crooked over the line blocking my door to get in. The best part was that the spot next to them on their drivers side was empty!"
"Atmosphere: Sophisticated, upscale without being dressy.Food: Loved the ceviche, which was probably the highlight. Salad was a big miss. The Lomo Salgado was a good portion size and overall pretty good, but the meat was a bit overcooked and frankly, I've had equally delicious Lomo Saltado from food carts. The Pollo a La Parilla was pretty good, but not cheap for chicken.Price: Prices are high for what it is. Granted, it's an upscale restaurant that is popular so no surprise but expect to pay more for the name and experience than for the best Peruvian food in the area.Service: Service was good. We changed our reservation multiple times and they were always very accommodating.Parking: Street parking."
"I've wanted to try for a while but living in sw suburbs it's a bit of a trek. But I got my opportunity and didn't regret it. I started with the sliders, corn dogs and hush puppies. Catfish sliders were good. Just spicy enough to avoid that muddy flavor. Good size hunks of fish too. The pulled pork ones were good but I agree with fellow helpers that it needs a sauce. The corn dogs were really fun. Though they would be too salty but they were just right. The hush puppies were huge. They were on happy hour so what the heck. I found out mid meal that someone else was footing the bill so I wanted the jambalaya. The owner also owns roscoes so I asked the waiter if it was the same as Roscoes, he claimed it was better. It was not better. I can't put my finger on why. It was good but not better than Roscoes. I love the space. The outdoor area made of shipping containers and the little warmer things on the tables. So much fun. Service was a little inconsistent but I'll bet it's tricky to manage that outdoor space. Solid food, lots of good drinks and a fun space. I recommend."
"I didn't dine in but I love a place where I can buy some Son of Man cider along with some various tins of seafood. Well, this is precisely such a place so I did precisely such a thing. Pass on those beef sticks by the register though."
"Cute, cute, cute!Snuggled into a back alley corner, charming setting, perfect two and not more.Food most definitely on the pricey end but all delish.Service ~ excellent. Personable, attentive & sweet.Perfect spot for a few glasses of natural & sparkling wine."
"One thing about me and my hubby both is that we are a sucker for speakeasies and if we know one exists, you can bet your last dollar we are going there .Voysey is tucked away in the basement of loyal legion . As you enter you are greeted with red lights ,a neat mural and beaded curtains .There was live music going on . The space is small but I feel that the seating was ample or perhaps its just because they weren't very crowded at the moment . I got the Lucky Peach which was vodka based with Aperol. The jasmine lime and curry leaf gave such an unusual flavor combo and the peach made the whole drink very refreshing . The hubby on the other hand trusted the bartender to make something of their choice and they knocked it out of the park . I also ordered the miso butter and bread. In theory it was such a simple snack but the butter was so rich / full of umami and the bread very fresh . I was so intrigued and our kindest host sneaked me a quick recipe on a piece of paper . I love it when the staff makes you feel welcomed and at ease and the people at Voysey do that with a smile .We had other plans so weren't able to try more drinks but I am pretty sure we will return ."
"Highly recommend this place and reservations. Best Italian restaurant I have been to! Had 3 out of town folks wanting something local and it did not disappoint. Be ready for longer wait times in general but the staff communicates it upfront but makes up with hospitality! I recommend inside as the local heathans are in full effect due to lack of local government support."
"You need to come here. I am a club member at another urban winery in Oregon and I've been to a lot of wineries in Oregon. The wine here is outstanding. Come for the charcuterie vending machine and stay for the amazing wine. I was impressed by all of the pinot noirs, the skin contact pinot gris, and the cab sauv. Every wine tasted beautifully."
"5/5 would recommend. This place exceeded my expectations. Delicious Detroit style pizza, hefty portions, and perfect for sharing! Great price ($9.50 - price will vary depending on pizza type). Although I felt like their flavor options were verylimited. I ended up ordering the 2 quarter size Number Four (sausage, ricotta, chilies). The pizza was a soft focaccia like bread. Lots of toppings. Super cheesy and paired with the free house made ranch was absolutely delicious. I even had leftovers! Service was speedy quick! Staff were helpful and nice. Ambiance was inviting. I would def come back!"
"Prior to visiting Portland, I had done some research on spots that my partner and I needed to try. Street Disco had come up on social media, specifically for their brunch, so we decided to give it a try...and I am so glad that we did. For starters, the staff are amazing. We had made a reservation for 11, not really knowing when our day would lead us to wanting some food, but we ended up walking in at 10, and we asked the hostess if we could get seated earlier with the understanding that it might not be able to happen. She was incredibly kind and seated us right away at the bar with the open-concept kitchen, which was awesome to watch the chefs cook throughout brunch. Our server was also amazing and was consistently attentive, personable, and provided great recommendations. As far as the food for brunch, it's certainly elevated, but not out of scope for people. The options ranged from french omelette to bourbon infused chicken and waffles to oysters on the half shell! My partner and I decided to split the chicken and waffles and the breakfast biscuit...and you NEED to order the chicken and waffles. They bread the chicken to order, and the coating is light and crispy and the waffles and sweet and savory with the bourbon infusion. Get it, and I promise you will not regret it. They also have a great cocktail list for brunch. I started with the bloody mary, which was out of this world good, and then got the make your own mimosa which came with a glass of prosecco and a small glass or fresh squeezed orange juice, so you could manage your own juice to prosecco ratio. Genius!Overall, if you are in the Portland area and you are looking for brunch, you definitely need to try Street Disco. You will not be disappointed."
"This place is mostly a bar. I was tempted to come in cause I saw some delicious looking pics online, but the first time I came on a weekday they said they just had a limited menu of some basic bar snacks and their full menu was only available Th/F/Sat when the chef was working, so I came back Thurs evening and even called to make sure it was the full food menu. I was disappointed tho, the only additions were a burger and an omelette. We ordered a burger for $15, and it was so average. Barely better than a fast food party and untoasted grocery store buns w/ shredded iceberg lettuce. Guess the guy that made that tasty looking dish of mussels and bread must've quit. If you're just lookin for drinks tho this is a nice quieter spot. And the bartender is pretty cool. But no good food here."
