"After having lived in Portland for such a long time, I'm just amazed how I have never visited this place or maybe I do know --because it's not as authentic as I prefer my Indian food to be. The restaurant is located at a very good location and many years ago even used to be one of the popular Indian restaurants in the city, I believe that's not the case anymore. We made reservations 30 minutes before we arrived, but the place was almost 70% occupied and the bar area was totally empty but the staff had made it seem like the place was overflowing with people and pushed us really hard to reserve stating that they are jampacked that evening . Its worse since they were closing soon as well and they failed to mention that when we were reserving . The establishment is huge, but the decor is very dated. It feels like you're suddenly 20 years back in time with the dull walls and old school restaurant music. We were seated at one of those bigger nice booths and the seating was comfortable. Our drinks and appetizers arrived quickly, but we were informed that the restaurant closes at 10 PM, leaving us with less time to enjoy our meal. The food was a mix of highs and lows: the Malai Tikka was delicious, but the potato curry was below mediocre. The portions were generous, and most items on the menu are shareable, which is a plus for trying different dishes. The staff was alright, but I didn't personally like the fact that they kept pushing us to order soon. I believe they could have let us know when we made a reservation that they were closing early and there wouldn't be enough time to sit and eat properly. This would have made us either arrive sooner or we would have probably chosen a different place especially since we were meeting friends and would have preferred to spend some more time . Parking is hard specially with the downtown situation and break-ins . I didn't particularly feel safe parking my car nearby but had very less choices."
A timeless favorite which consists of a rich creamy tomato, onion, coriander gravy served with tandoori protein.

"Good place! We had a pretty good spread of food, and the drink options were fun (got to try a beer I'd never had, which is nice). Not the BEST Indian food I've ever had, but really solid. They're still really hard core with the covid protocols, but I wouldn't say that detracted from the experience much, just a little more DIY in terms of silverware and table amenities. Beyond that, the service was very pleasant. There weren't many other people in the place, so it was a nice place to grab a relaxing bite. All in all solid. I'd go back."
"The coconut pandan cocktail was delicious. Be be sure to save some for your meal as the smoothness offsets any food spiciness.Loved the crispy rice with lettuce leaf appetizer, will order as an entree next time. Pad See Ew is my Thai restaurant goto, but was luke-warm on it here. For one, the sauce (and salt) was too overpowering. For dessert, the mango was underripe, but the pandan rice and sauce were delicious.A pleasant surprise was the "house" blend hot tea, so good. The place is small so it was somewhat cluttered; the area behind the well-stocked bar was messy. Female bartender was very nice. Prices and portions were fair. Parking in this area just sucks."
"I decided to try this place just for the heck of it cuz it was right next to my bank. It was okay I feel it was a little high price for what you got but other than that the food wasn't that bad would I go again probably not."
"Really delicious burrito. I got the carnitas but I've heard very good things about the tuna as well. We ordered delivery but looking forward to ordering at the food truck and hanging out in the pod."
"What a lovely little gem in Gresham! We came on a Sunday for brunch and, well, as expected, we had to wait quite a long time for our table. However, service was excellent and friendly/warm. I had been in a few months prior and the waitress actually remembered me! Food was good, I had gotten one of the specials at the time, the blueberry ricotta pancakes. Very tasty and big portions so I was able to share. Otherwise, prices are a bit high. Glad to have a solid brunch place nearby though!"
"I was really excited to try this place out as they offered Vegan cheez. I ordered nachos with beef and guac. Let's start out with the base, the corn tortilla chips were too thin and could not support the toppings. Yes, they used vegan cheez, but there was barely anything on my nachos, didn't even cover 1/3 of the order. They used ground beef vs. carne asada (steak), it was okay. The guac was good. The person who took my order was extremely helpful and friendly. The prices are very reasonable. Street parking was easy to find."

So my partner is Celiac and cannot tolerate gluten in any way, shape, or form. So Indian food works really well for her, as most Indian dishes can be prepared gluten free. After an afternoon watching the Portland Thorns play the Kansas City Current (Thorns won, 3-0, go Thorns!), we made a side trip to the East India Company restaurant before heading home. The entry is one long bar, and is very elegant. We approached the hostess, who asked if we had reservations. We did not, but she said she could make something work if we were willing to wait. We were and she was wonderful about letting us know what was going on.When we got to the main dining area, the ambiance was fantastic. A gorgeous sculpture hangs overhead and the tables are dark and romantic. The smell is of wonderful curry and there is a sense that every table is separate from every other table, giving you a sense of privacy, even if someone is sitting next to you.My partner is in love with the Machli Ka Tikka, a salmon curry that she just dies for. Our server suggested to her that it would be four pieces of fish, so she might want to go for another dish. That being said, she also went with a Murg Tikka, a chicken in yogurt and saffron. I don't like fish, but I love chicken, and I found it to be amazing. I would also note that the pieces of salmon that were served to us were HUGE! Huge enough that, along with some bits of the Murg Tikka and my own dish, my partner basically took most of the chicken home.I was going to go for the chicken vindaloo, myself, but that's not able to be prepared gluten free at East India Co. As part of us going out on date night and making events of the evenings we get to ourselves, I try my best to eat gluten free myself so that we can share dishes. Therefore, I went with the chicken Makhani, basically butter chicken. For spice, I asked for it to be as spicy as possible. Not "I say I like spicy but I think ketchup is spicy," but "spicy like I like it hot" spicy. The waitress said she absolutely understood. The sauce, chicken, and rice under it were wonderful. Rich and thick, and hot, though not debilitatingly hot. The butter and cream in the sauce are going to tone down a lot of those spices, so it was middling hot to both our pallets, at best. Still, it was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening, along with some nice glasses of wine, and pleasant conversation and company. Next time we get out to a Thorns game, we'll definitely make reservations, but this is one of our go-to restaurants now.

Last reviewed in 2015 with a '5 Star' review, but the quality remains consistently outstanding. I regularly make the 35-minute drive from Fairview just to indulge in their delectable cuisine. My usual order consists of Onion Bhaji, Naan, rice, and their renowned Chicken Tikka Masala (medium spice), all packed to-go.The owners are exceptionally warm and welcoming, having witnessed our daughters grow from infancy to 6 and 10 years old. Each dish is prepared fresh to order, ensuring a delightful culinary experience.Despite having sampled Indian cuisine nationwide, no eatery in Portland or beyond rivals the exquisite flavors found at India Oven. I've even visited their family's restaurant on the Vegas strip, which, while good, pales in comparison. The restaurant maintains impeccable cleanliness and ambiance, further enhancing the dining experience. If I were to choose a final meal, it would undoubtedly be their famous Chicken Tikka Masala (medium spice).

The drunken noodles and curry puffs were seasoned to perfection, though slightly on the salty side. The Thai iced tea had a perfect balance with its subtle sweetness and just the right amount of coconut cream. The curry puffs were flaky and light. Great pickled cucumbers on the side. Excellent service and loved how cute the restaurant is!

I got the grilled pork with rice and the pork wasn't even fully cooked. Would not recommend eating here.

"Yuan Su serves all-vegetarian Chinese food. (Perhaps all vegan? Hard to tell, as they don't have a full website.) They're in a giant red building off Powell and 111th so it's not exactly a happening part of the city or a fun dinner destination. I ordered takeout for lunch recently. Service stood out as above and beyond, from helping me decide what to order on the phone, greeting me when I walked in, having the order ready in about 10 minutes, packaging the order in a box to go, helping me with a complicated payment. The restaurant was nearly empty when I went to pickup. It's a huge space, somewhat spartan in decor. Looks like the building used to be used for something else. I ordered beef and broccoli, kung pao chicken, mapo tofu, potstickers, and rice. It was all good but not necessarily amazing. Portions were large enough for leftovers. Main dish prices were about $14-18 so a little pricey depending on what you get. If I go back, I will keep working my way through their menu to see what dishes are my favorite and how they adapt them to be vegetarian/vegan."
"You know normally I am a creature of habit, but I often like to use deals and promotions to scratch my legs a little and try and find something new. I normally wouldn't wander into. I'm more of a taco stand verse Mexican restaurant person growing up where I grew up in Southern California. It's just what I was used to was quick and cheap food rather than the big warm plate Mexican restaurant style. Here was very much so stereotypical Mexican restaurant, huge portions, tons of cheese and a massively huge menu.We probably should've just gotten one item and split it, but we ended up bringing home an incredible amount of food even though I ate till I was stuffed. The super nachos were very good. We went with the Pastor store of course the best meat. Chips when they bring them to the table come out warm so we knew the nachos were gonna be good. We split the three item combo anytime I can try a Chile Relleno I do. Sometimes you regret it cause it's a little bit greasy and a little bit off, but this one was absolutely "perfectly with just the most insane amount of cheese in there as you can see by this 4 foot cheese pull in the photo. Of course I'm a huge green sauce fan so we went with an enchilada to go along with that with the chili Verde and have the chili Verde sauce poured all over everything. Our last item was a tostada because why not have all of your carbs deep-fried as well. I mean, if there was an option to deep fry the enchilada, we probably would've done as well.Service here was absolutely amazing. It's a really good spot and it rivals La Carreta which says a lot! In both portion and quality. Honestly, unless you want a ton of leftovers and a crazy amount of stuff, a three item combo will easily feed to normal people."
"I was looking for Chinese food to serve dinner to family while in town visiting. I obviously used Yelp to help and it did not steer me wrong. Lucky 7 was a great find. 1st, this is a take out restaurant only. It's a family restaurant and I met mom, dad, and daughter when I picked up my order. I love supporting good family restaurants. I ordered 6 items: potstickers, veggie Lo mein, salty pepper shrimp, sesame beef, orange chicken, and bbq pork fried rice. All dishes were tasty and prepared well. I liked the salty pepper shrimp and sesame beef the best. The shrimp had lots of jalapeños and onion. Well seasoned. The shrimp were lightly fried. The sesame beef was crispy with a fairly sweet brown sauce. I used a little soy sauce to balance the sweet with the salty. I highly recommend Lucky 7. Good food, reasonable value, and a great family restaurant to support."
"I came here while I was visiting family in Oregon. My cousin brought me here because she loves it. She said I'd love it too. And I did. Only downside is they didn't have their in house chips. But it's ok. I had the pork Banh mi. It almost looks like vegan meat lol it taste great. Not an authentic Banh mi. But still good. The bread was more of a ciabatta type. The pickled veggies made it a Banh mi. Service was good. Speedy and accurate for a party of 8. So shout out to the crew. That's it. Nothing much else to add. Keep up the good work"
"A total delight! We have a friend who avoids meat, so Indian restaurants have become the most reliable places for everyone to be happy. Maruti's atmosphere and service topped off the experience, making for a delightful lunch. The Tikka Masala with paneer was every bit as good as I had been led to believe. Naan, Daal Tadka and a Biryani rounded out our family style feast.Iced Chais and a Mango Lassi made excellent accompaniments to the food.Maruti is located on a stretch of Hawthorne where street parking is easier than it is in the 30's, yet another reason to look forward to returning here."
"This all-vegan restaurant started as a food cart in downtown Portland back in 2009. Now they have their own brick and mortar, and they make their own seitan in house! Yes, please!I ordered the reuben, and it was the biggest, most delicious sandwich you could ever ask for. It was seriously enough for 2 meals if you're not a huge eater! The staff was super friendly. There was no line. There's picnic tables out front where you can eat, but it's mostly a takeout spot. I recommend doing what I did and taking your food a couple blocks down to the park and sit under the shade of a giant tree."
"I found Harlow through Yelp and I am so glad I did! I needed a break from the usual food options like pizza and burgers. I was looking for veggie filled goodness and that's exactly what I found at Harlow. I ordered the pesto garden scramble. It had quinoa, farm fresh eggs scrambled with seasonal vegetables, roasted yams, potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, mushrooms, & kale with a walnut basil pesto. I opted out of the roasted walnuts on top. The serving size was a lot larger than I expected. It is a splittable dish. I enjoyed all of the different flavors and textures in this bowl. The pesto was a great sauce for all of the veggies and eggs. I loved this bowl! I also ordered the flamango smoothie. It came with strawberry, mango, banana and almond milk. It was refreshing. The interior of Harlow is really cute and inviting. It has lights, plants, and wooden tables. There is also bar style seating. Parking is street parking and we were lucky to park right in front. The employees did not greet us or say much to us except take our order. I loved the food at Harlow and would definitely return. It's a great option for vegan, gluten-free, and healthy food!"
"I absolutely love Vietnamese food. I enjoy learning about the subtle differences between regional dishes, and often find restauranteurs in Portland are open to sharing knowledge of their cuisine me. I was recently excited to learn that in relation to pho, soup from the north features a more refined, clear broth with minimal toppings. And soup from the south has a richer, sweeter broth with a wider variety of herbs and garnishes. The history of the dish is really fascinating, and most definitely warrants additional study. I've learned that pho originated in northern Vietnam, in Hanoi. And as families fled northern Vietnam in the 1950s, regional variations of the dish emerged based on availability of local ingredients and tastes. Armed with this knowledge, when I discovered Hanoi Kitchen is one of the few restaurants to feature Northern Vietnamese dishes in Portland, I jumped at the chance to check it out. Hanoi Kitchen has the appearance of being a family restaurant. It's a large, open space with lots of plants and the most gorgeous wood floors I've ever seen. It's a beautiful space filled with art, and has plenty of seating for lots and lots of people. A friendly woman named Kim runs the place, taking orders, making the food, and cleaning up! Her dedication to this restaurant and the community is impressive. And it's clear she's made an impact on the customers she serves. The wall behind the counter is plastered with postcards, letters, wedding invitations and funeral announcements from the friends and family she's served over the years. I love this sense of community as it show's Kim's heart is in both her work and the food she serves. Hanoi Kitchen claims they don't use MSG in the food they prepare, and all of the ingredients appear to be fresh and healthy - in fact, Kim even brings eggs to the restaurant from her own chickens! You can buy organic farm eggs for $5 a dozen! Everything about this restaurant indicates familial, homestyle cooking which is something I strive for these days. I love supporting restaurants and businesses who are invested in the communities they serve."
"We last visited Thai Pasta a few years ago. There is an over abundance of Thai restaurants in this area. So unless a restaurant is a favorite, it might be a while before it pops up in the rotation again. I remember liking the food here. Today the weather is approaching 90° so I decided to order delivery. The food was delayed several times. Maybe everyone else had the same idea. When the food finally arrived, the bag was missing one entree. The attached receipt showed our correct order. The bag was tied closed so it seems the restaurant shorted us one item. The food that we did receive was tasty. Our delivery service is great about correcting problems. But when you look forward to enjoying a meal that never materializes it makes you not wanna revisit a place.***After the restaurant owner reached out to us we found out that the restaurant did not make a mistake. The restaurant thinks the delivery driver may have taken our food. The restaurant viewed video of our bag being prepared with all three items. They feel that the driver opened our bag and took one item then tied the bag again. We received excellent communication and customer service from the restaurant so I have updated my review to reflect this. ***"
"Really solid, good value, no frills Mexican food with tons of vegan options. We used to come here all the time when visiting Apex next door. They have a full, separate vegan menu with tons to choose from. We ordered the vegan soyrizo enchiladas($12) to share one afternoon, which was ready in about 10-15 mins. You get a generous portion of enchiladas, with nicely spiced soyrizo, with sides of vegan sour cream, rice, refried beans, and a lame iceberg salad with a tomato on top. Tasty, filling and good value. Still a good spot for the kind of food it is."
"First time eating here even though I have heard a lot about them before.Came for dinner on a Friday evening and the place was empty .The restaurant has a very low key no fuss vibe and it felt a little awkward to be alone in a big space . Nobody came to take our order for at least 15 minutes but it looked like there was just one person working .We ordered the vegetarian platter for two and another chicken curry . The platter was ginormous to say the least. Even with four of us we struggled to finish it. The plate even though had ten veggie dishes a few did taste pretty similar .For me the chicken dish tasted way better because of all the dense spices and the tender meat. The injera was huge and they also provided a second serving of it. Prices are extremely reasonable. For me the experience lacked a bit in terms of how eerie quite it was and the service being too slow . I would probably do takeout from here personally next time instead of in-person dining."
"Simple healthy meal created quickly by nice people! What more do you need? Not sure what the sauce is (I could look it up I suppose) but it's delicious."
"This is my favorite local spot for Indian food and I have had them 5-6 times! So consistent and always so good. The naan is larger than other places as well. The only downside is there do not seat people inside currently but, for a takeout spot, easily the best one."
