"I was NOT expecting this place to be as good as it was, but as I sit here in my post-meal food coma, I'm happy I stopped by for a late lunch.I had their Khao Soi and it was delicious! The broth was so full of flavor, and then the bowl was overflowing with fresh ingredients, from the chunks of white chicken meat to the egg noodles and veggies.Bonus points for providing such a massive serving, I couldn't make it more than 2/3 of the way through my meal, and I was STARVING when I arrived.Great spot if you're hungry for quick, but still top notch Thai food at a decent price."
"After driving my daughter the days after her surgery around town, we really wanted to wind down on a Friday night and enjoy a seafood dinner at Jacqueline in Portland's Clinton area. But, we didn't have a res., it was a 45 min. and, we were hungry. Without walking too far, we noticed Yama. No res, 10 min wait, seated. Bam! After you walk past all the folded napkins by the waiting area, Yama Sushi & Izakaya opens up to a dining area with neutral color walls, dark woods, some black touches and paper lanterns. My daughter started with 'Salmon Butter' that had 2 salmon chunks, asparagus, sautéed enoki and the tastiest spinach. The plate was delicate from start to finish. My Miso Cod was another highlight with the most tender fish and wish I had another piece. My kid had a Lobster-topped roll that was feast on the eyes. She enjoyed it, but I would've gone for the no-mayo on it. My Rainbow Roll with real crab was every bit satisfying. The succulent, velvety fish was a nice contrast with the crunchy cucumber, the creamy avocado and that real chunky crab. The rice is seasoned nicely with the right touch of sweetness and acid. Except, the rolls here have a lot of rice. Don't let that stop you- there are other selling points in the menu."

"Living up to the hype as a former Eater PDX editor's favorite, Urdaneta delivered an exceptional dining experience. The service was impeccable from start to finish, with a friendly and attentive staff. The food was truly outstanding. Every dish was a flavor-packed delight, showcasing both Spanish or Basque cuisine and inventive PDX twists. The complimentary marinated olives were a welcome appetizer, and I highly recommend trusting your server's recommendations.Don't miss out on the Basque cheesecake for a perfect ending to your meal. While the menu is seasonally driven, the consistent quality of the food and service makes Urdaneta a must-visit for any food lover visiting Portland."
"Tasty lunch on 23rd in Portland with family that were in town visiting from the East Coast. This is a cute, cozy spot and we had never tried it before. We decided to take a chance, I'm not gonna lie I was a bit nervous because they do not have a huge menu but they do everything right! We ordered Mac n cheese, crab cakes and a pretzel with cheese & grainy mustard to share. I enjoyed the French dip sando and hubby ordered the pork belly sando. Both were freaking delish! Everyone was happy with what they ordered and we will definitely be back."

This place was delicious! Came here on a Friday evening, wasn't too busy yet although there were a bunch of people hanging around outside on the tables. Our server was very friendly. Had a pad se ew with tofu, definitely one of the best I've had yet in Portland (albeit I am somewhat new to Thai food). It's also in a great location located next to 10 barrel and the hip coffee shop/lounge next door.

My parents were visiting and requested sushi. My friend helped me set up a private table upstairs for our large group. I requested a set menu based on chef recommendation and nothing disappointed! There are more dishes/ pics to add but Yelp limited it to 10. Everything was delicious, tasted fresh, & came out quickly. My parents said it was some of the best sushi, especially with presentation. Thank you Jay & team for a memorable dinner, especially with my parents.

Brace yourself, this is going to be a long post because this was a special meal. True to the nature of tapas, we tried SO many things on their menu and they're all unique and delicious, representing the cuisine in the Basque region. Really opened up our palate and culinary worldview.Open kitchen, cozy space, and lively energy. The ambience at Urdaneta made for a fun dining experience. We started off with some delicious and refreshing house Sangria. We were also given some complimentary marinated olives which were BOMB. And, I'm not even an olive person. These had great a texture and well-balanced flavors. Next came the assortment of pinxtos: Mejillones En Escabeche, Bikini, and Morcilla. These were small biters that were somewhat shareable but we totally wished we just got one each of everything...The Escabache had a crispy paella base topped with slightly brined mussel, playing with the contrast in textures. The Bikini was a twist on the classic ham and cheese sandwich with super crisy toasty and the gooeiest cheese. The saltiness from the jamon serrano paired amazingly with the touch of truffle honey. So good! Last but not least of the pinxtos, the Morcilla was some of the best, if not the best, blood sausage served on a tasty toast. Now we might make this sounds average but it's so tasty we wished they sold the blood sausage in bulk. The primeros were equally impressive. We tried the Pan with whipped olive oil topped with sherry brown butter. Need I say more. Loved the airy texture of the olive oil, didn't know that this is a thing! The Nuestra Ensaladilla Rusa was an albacore paradise with the fish prepared in multiple ways on the dish. It sorta reminds me of tuna salad but with more umami. The thin and crispy waffle potato chips were a great company to the dish. Then there's the Croquetas De Jamon which were the croquetas to beat all corquetas. The outside crispy and thin while the inside was soooo creamy. I don't know how they do it but it's amazing.Hope you're still with us cause we got segundos. The Piquillos Rellenos were wild boar stuffed peppers stewed in a rich yet bright sauce. The gaminess of the board worked surprisingly well. Not to mention it's very tender and juicy. Meanwhile the lamb loin in the Cordero was equally delicious and so preciously presented we didn't want to touch it. But we did and it's great. After all of these delectable dishes, we're satisfied but, you know what they say, go big or go home so we got not one but two desserts and a decaf espresso to round of our food adventure. We got the Arroz con Leche with bruleéd top which to our surprise was served cold but it worked! The rice was very creamy and not too sweet. The crunchy sugar top added a nice contrasting texture and it's fun to break into. The lavender was present but in the most perfect way, not at all overwhelming. The star of the desserts though was the Tarte de Queso or Burnt Basque Cheesecake. So creamy and smooth and the membrillo was so damn good. This was a spendy meal but we couldn't be happier with it. The restaurant and the team put in thoughts and efforts to create such a unique experience. They regularly travel to Spain to refine their menu and techniques so you can be sure to have a great time whenever you go.

We came for happy hour, we stayed long past for the drinks and...mac and cheese. Happy hour is a good deal, and you can find plenty of snacks. I say snacks, but I mean "food that will fill you up so there's no reason to think about dinner".And mac and cheese. Comes in this adorable little crock, and was hot as LAVA (beware), and was a really good portion, not tiny like *some other happy hour places where they cut the portion in half (or a third) and cut $2 off the price.Service was super friendly, even as we imbibed way more than we should - cocktails were EXCELLENT btw.

"Very large space with multiple seating options. Booths along the parameter, tables of various sizes in the interior, a great bar set up with comfy chairs and a foot rest, so important, and a cozy seating nook in front of a fireplace - grab this if you can!Menu is quite large, a variety of tapas meant for sharing. What sets Irving Street Tapas apart is the multi international offerings. Not just small plates from Spain, which is the usual, but offerings from India, Africa, Argentina, Japan, Italy and more. The common denominator seems to be spice, very spicy! Be aware when ordering. We shared the spicy edamame, a very interesting take on a dish that typically comes just salted. I'd definitely get these again! Next came the spicy paneer, Indian cheese cubed and stir fried with sweet red peppers and other veggies, served along side jasmine rice. This dish as super spicy! We were two fisting our water and wine!To give our palette a break, we then ordered the Argentine steak with chimichurri and a plate of the patatas brava (potatoes.) The steak was a little tough, wish it had been marinated longer to give it more flavor. The potatoes were cooked perfectly, crisp on the outside and fluffy inside. The sauce was surprisingly light in flavor, especially compared to the first two tapas we ordered. We couldn't decide on dessert but knew we wanted something sweet to end the meal. We decided to get both the tiramisu, which was excellent, and cannoli that took a unique spin on the ricotta filling by adding a hint of cardamom. Very nice. We took our time with our meal, enjoying cocktails and wine. We were never rushed and the various waitstaff that took and brought our orders, were all delightful. The owner even stopped by our table to say hello and check on us to see if we were enjoying the food. It was a cold Wednesday evening and it was also very chilly inside the restaurant. The space is huge so probably expensive to heat, and on a week eight where there were a lot of people, but far from a full house, it was cold. We kept our coats on for the first hour. Irving Street Tapas would be an excellent choice for 4 or more people so you can share a large variety of plates. It was good for two, but 4 dishes were plenty. Parking can be a challenge in this part of downtown especially on a weekend."
"For dinner, I had the Quinoa Burger with vegan cheese and aioli. The beer menu includes two pre-selected flights of six different beers. For $2 more, I handpicked a flight of six beers. I concluded with a serving of Black Butte XXXVI, their anniversary imperial porter, which is out of this world. Next on my list is the Barrel-Aged Black Butte Whiskey Manhattan.I like the variety of indoor and outdoor seating, including bar and family dining sections. The vibe is pleasant. Service is friendly and attentive. The store is well-stocked with beer to go. I was unimpressed with the selection of shirts."
