Jando S. "They don't make places like this anymore.Sayler's has been around for the better part of the last century (#1) and has been one of the city's go-to steak destinations from the local community. They are also home to one of the largest steak challenges with a 72oz monstrosity. Gimmicks aside, this is one of my favorite places to get a no frills steak and I sincerely hope they manage to stick around for a long time. The vibe is undoubtedly old school and the ambiance has a tinge of vintage, complemented by the scores of older clientele on any given day. It's no small place either, as there is plenty of seating, tables, and even parking spaces. Bathrooms are also clean and the place is generally very inviting.Their selection of meats / steaks is some of the best in Portland. From filet mignon to fatty ribeye to top sirloin and porterhouses. I have really enjoyed ribeyes and prime rib the most, I think most of their steaks deserve a little shine. The steak challenge is with their top sirloin and at 72oz, it's a lot of steak. I attempted it during my birthday meal years ago and it reminded me of a head or a bowling ball just made of beef. While I finished the next size down at 40oz relatively easily, I failed miserably with this one. The rules state that once the steak is served, one can finish the plate within 60 minutes. This also includes the sides, such as the vegetables, fries or baked potato. Once I'm done with the meat sweats and am a little hungry, I'll make it a point to come back. They don't just excel in steak, seafood is absolutely within their forté. The sea scallops and lobster tails are lovely and when paired with steak makes for the perfect kind of surf and turf. What's interesting is that no matter what one orders, every meal comes with a "relish tray" that includes salad, bread, entree, side dishes, and ice cream. Their homemade sour cream is stupidly addicting and should be bottled up.I really enjoy the service here. They've always been extra accommodating to my guests and I and they've been super efficient each time. I appreciate the how collectively friendly they are and they play a big part in my wanting to come back every year. I'm already looking forward to my next visit and my next large plate of steak.__________(#1) Nearly 80 years. That's so impressive."

Brett J. "What a view... not the one in the picture though... the one out the window!Had a business dinner here and I have to say the venue sits atop an outstanding location. You go up a pretty steep entrance and when you get to the parking lot you are rewarded with a view off a postcard! Pure beauty. The location it's self is nice... big, airy, and well maintained. We had 6 of us for dinner and we were seated in the upstairs loft area which had an over view of the bar and kitchen areas as well as the dinning area. The food was ok. Nothing really stood out as exceptional. There was a lot of it at high prices... and it was all flavored well, cooked well, and served well. Just in my opinion it did not live up to the location. It was not exceptional. This is one of those places that when you arrive you expect greatness! It did not live up to that... Would I come back? Yeah I would."

Connie C. "Came here as a last minute thought but has been on our list for a while. The salad was delicious, tried the butter lettuce and the Ceasar salad, 5 for the salads. Got the duck fat fries, not enough seasonings. 3 out of 5. The entrées were mixed, the gnocchi and lamb daily special was phenomenal, 5 out of 5. The husband got the rib eye, it was over cooked and rubbery tough, 3 out of 5. For the price point, the gnocchi won. There was no bread service, which was weird. The service was fantastic, the woman helping us was kind and attentive. The ambiance was weird, there was a super strong hint of smoke I think due to the cigar bar on premises. The dining room was pretty space but on the plus it was quiet and casual. Overall, a good solid restaurant and we're glad we went!"

Jen M. "Had a wonderful time on Saturday afternoon, lounging on the StockPot's outdoor patio that overlooks the luscious green golf course, as I took full advantage of one of the last few days of Portland sunshine, while enjoying entertaining conversation with good friends, leisurely sipping on Iced Spanish Coffees and being waiting on by the lovely Miss Lexi. Good food, tasty drinks, quick seating and fantastic service on a gorgeous weekend... what more could you possibly ask for?I highly recommend this hidden Portland gem."

Terry K. "Bill's Steakhouse has been serving Portlander and visitor alike since 1940. While the past 5 years brought new decor to the establishment, the service, menu and pricing remains circa 1950.Where can you go for steak under $20? (And it's good cuts of meat)Where can you go for a glass of wine for $3 a glass (And it's a decent Pacific Northwest pour)Where can you go for french fries for $3 (and it's the small size in a large basket; I'd hate to see what the large $8 looks like)Where can you go to kick back, have a beverage and snack up to midnight in the Parkrose PDX Airport Area?Where can you go to play a game of pool, throw some darts, and watch sports on Big screen TV?Give up? Go to Bill's Steakhouse on Sandy; close to the 205 on ramp north to the airport and south to Clakamas.39/100 Yelp Review Challenge Los Angeles"

Joan F. "It's open for business! Reader, beware that I am biased for this location, and I'm so happy to have a wonderful, casual neighborhood restaurant back in Kenton (I know Kenton has restaurants, but the former Swift and Union building is special to me).Today's lunch: wedge salad with added chicken. Delicious!Partner: fried chicken sandwich with brioche bun (not his favorite type of "too bready" bun. Very good.No drinks this time, but I have my eye on the North Old Fashioned. Service was gracious and well-paced. Atmosphere is one of my favorite restaurant vibes for casual, great dining: it exudes warmth and charm. The space is designed with minimalistic decor, emphasizing comfort and a welcoming atmosphere. The interior features large windows facing south and east, allowing natural light to flood the room during the day.The walls are painted dark blue and grey, creating a serene backdrop that complements the simple yet elegant furnishings. Wooden tables and chairs are strategically placed to provide ample space for diners, adding a touch of coziness without overwhelming the minimalist aesthetic. The overall vibe is one of understated elegance, where the focus is on providing a comfortable and inviting environment for guests to enjoy their meals. The large windows not only enhance the sense of space but also connect the indoor dining area with the natural beauty of Kenton (I love the tree-lined streets of Kenton).Stay tuned as I investigate further. I suspect that a fifth star is coming. I promise to post photos for future visits (I was too hungry today)."

Ryan M. "Best steak in the city of Portland. The service is very old school almost literal "Servant" style accommodations... They pull out chairs and even escort you to the restroom... The food is as perfect as you'd expect for the money the establishment is beautiful... The ultra professional service isn't exactly my style but they are executing exactly what they are attempting to perfectly. I feel like if I tossed my wine glass at the wall one of the servers would have caught it mid air, polished it up with one of the towels they carry, refilled it with something on the house, and apologized to me for wine glasses behavior... If that is your thing you might really love this place. The food was perfect, I am a grill guy, the steak was cooked to perfection, just tasted like the highest quality meat money can buy. Everything tasted great, I don't know what else to say. Yes absolutely go to ringside. Why wouldn't you?"

Katrina V. "My sister and I had dinner reservations at Urban Farmer on a Saturday at 6pm. We found the restaurant on the 8th floor atrium of The Nines hotel. For being a modern steakhouse, the vibe of Urban Farmer was of sophistication but also simplicity. There were guests dressed casually and others were dressed to the Nines. Pun intended. It didn't feel snooty at all, so the experience was what you make it. The menu looked very impressive. I appreciated how they thanked the local farms where their ingredients were sourced. We split a few things on the menu including the Tender Greens Salad, NY Steak Tasting Trio, side of Charred Heirloom Carrots, and side of Cultivated & Wild Mushrooms. Before we received our first order, we were served their house cornbread muffin. It was fantastic! The muffin was warm and crumbly, and it had such a nice balance of sweetness and saltiness. I liked how you could distinctly taste the salt crystals. The food just kept getting better. The Tender Greens salad was amazing! It was made of carrot shavings, a mix of spring greens, and thinly sliced apples that topped the salad. I enjoyed the bites with the crispy quinoa, and the whole salad was lightly covered in a honey vinaigrette. It was a no frills salad, but each bite was packed with freshness and flavor. The quality of the ingredients spoke for itself. I enjoyed the NY Steak Tasting Trio. Each piece was 6oz, but we had the dish split evenly between me and my sister. My favorite piece was the the prime corn-fed. We ordered the truffle blue cheese butter and au poivre, which complimented the steaks well. Loved the sides we ordered. The mushroom side was particularly noteworthy. The wild mushrooms that were foraged were my favorite since they were so unique and meaty. The pearl onions absorbed the flavor of red wine, so they added pops of bold flavor in a bite of mushrooms. I was surprised by the texture of the heirloom carrots. They were almost as starchy as cassava. The main reason for docking down a point was the service. Our reservation was at 6pm, which we arrived on time for. We were pretty decisive and ordered our food no more than 5 minutes after we sat down. While the salad came out pretty quickly after ordering, the steaks and sides took forever to arrive. I remember looking at my phone around 7pm, and we still hadn't received our main course."
