"Yes please! The sun, star and moon finally aligned for us t check out General Burnside's and what the heck were we waiting for?!! Is exactly what we asked ourselves after sinking or teeth into our first bite of his specialty fried chicken. What was that amazing blend of seasonings between the breading and the various dipping sauces? Each sauce when mixed with the chicken created an entirely different mouthful of amazing flavors with each bite. Sauces:The white dill sauce was really good and we're perfect with the chicken and a bite of the side pickle. The yellow sauce that at first glance looks like mustard had a curry tone to it that when mixed with the chicken was like a mini trip to the Taj. The red dipping sauce was yet another great compliment too the chicken. Chips:Next were the hand cut chips. These were delicious! I'm a sucker for potatoes but in the same breath am very picky and particular. These were fried but not drenched in oil; first plus. They were also just the right thickness so you weren't chewing for days to finish one chip. That also made them more on the crispy side which we both really like. The wife loved the ones that were thin and all crunch. They also weren't salty at all which we appreciate. After being served our dish I felt the pricing was spot on and really invited us to want to come back to try everything else (since we could definitely afford to). Last but not least the gent working the window, Tamore (spell chk), was a really nice and chill Kat. He played some great instrumental tunes that we really enjoyed while we ate and kicked it next to his pod. There is a cool little shaded area with a tree trunk, wall and chair for like 2-4 ppl. If you're in the area they're definitely worth a bite!"

"Came here a few months ago and liked the place but didn't LOVE it. Last time I said the pizza crust was too thick. I don't know if it is too thick or just not a "next level" amazing crust. Not sure if the dough is hand made and fresh. Toppings are really good though. I ordered The tiramisu for dessert and they make one of the best tiramisu's I have ever had! Staff here is impressive. Very friendly and proactive, which is nice to see. Pizza came out piping hot and right to my table. They waited to bring me the dessert and brought it over as I was eating my last pizza slice! I didn't have to ask or go to the counter, they kept an eye on me and brought it at the right time! Good food and a staff that has attention to detail! If only the could get that pizza crust right, they would have had 5 stars!!!"
"I haven't had a Dutch Crunch roll since I moved from the Bay Area 13 yrs ago so when I heard that there is exactly one place to get them in Portland, I took a day off work to try it out (among other things). Baker's Mark is an efficient little sandwich shop! Order at the kiosk or online ahead of time, and they'll get your sandwiches ready quickly. There was a steady stream of people coming in picking up an order. I tried the roast beef and pepper jack on Dutch Crunch roll and thought it was great! The bread was freshly baked and had that nicely crackled top that provides a crunchy texture when you bite into it. Since you can specify what you want on your sandwich, it'll come out the way you like it. They had hot and cold sandwiches and one salad. Pretty straightforward. Delicious bread and if you've never tried Dutch Crunch, you really need to."
"We love this place! My spouse has been eating here for over 40 years.Yes, its clearly been around for a long time, not a ton of seating and you have to wait until the tables are cleared before being allowed to sit but the food is always good, hot and quick. The service is always friendly and very quick. Its big red booths are very old school and you can tell it's been around for a long time."
"What's up: While I was planning for our trip, this place came up several times as a recommendation, so I had to add it to the list. Plus, it helps that we like eggs!Parking: Street parking. We parked on SE 36th Ave and had a short walk over. Environment: When entering, go towards the right and place your order at the counter. The menu is displayed on the right side of the wall. Once you ordered, take the number counter and pick a table to sit at; food will be brought to you when ready. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. The restroom is located to the left of the order counter. Condiments and water are located near the trash collection area on the left side of the building; not too far from the entrance. Staff members were friendly and super pleasant. What was ordered:- 'Rito Suave (yummy, love the aioli)- Egg Zeppelin (very flavorful)- Sriracha Mix-A-Lot (pretty good)- Hash Bite (comes with yummy dipping sauce...Magic Spud Sauce!)Yay/Nay/Meh: Yay. The food was delicious. Something simple made extra yummy with all the different flavors. I loved all the creative names they came up with for the menu. It was definitely worth a visit! Yummy :) Credit cards are accepted."
"Never got to try them before the pandemic but now they're back! A great spot to grab-and-go. Also very college student friendly prices.Split a Sweet Chicken Banh Mi and honestly half of one was more than enough for me. Fresh ingredients, great protein to bread ratio. What's not to like! Will definitely be checking them out again."
"We went to Bees Knees as a party of 3 at 10:00 AM on Saturday. We were able to be seated right away, and had a lot of fun checking out all of the Betty Boop decor! It was so clean and well organized. I ordered a Chicken Caesar wrap with a side of fries. This was so simple and good! Whatever they season their chicken with is wonderful. I ordered my wrap with no tomatoes. I would be happy to order this again. I love how unique this place is-did you know they have a fry of the month? Our waitress was lovely and she even did the Betty Boop makeup! This was such a fun way to start a day in Portland. We will absolutely be back!"
"The smoke pouring out of the giant smoker out front is intoxicating, even if you are driving by in a car. Having lived in the neighborhood for many years, I've been to Reo's a few times. When the ribs are moist and juicy, they are some of the best in Portland. But when they are over cooked and dry, they are like leather. It's this inconsistency that saddens me and makes me hesitant to go back. During these Covid times, I understand that restaurants have difficulty gauging demand and that could impact the quality. But customers who are supporting businesses, have to decide where to spend their limited funds. I feel especially bad for Reo's after having experienced a fire that destroyed their business, only to rebuild then be hit with the pandemic and the senseless violence and destruction in Portland. Their once beautiful building is now covered in graffiti and is surrounded by a fence in an attempt to protect the business and allow them to continue cooking for customers. I'll give them another chance, but when I have time to go in person and make sure my beef ribs are fresh off the smoker."
"A classic cruising spot for over 50+ years and still standing. Not as big as I remember them, but the spirit is still there. Gotta get a Coney Isoand dog definitely. The area isn't a place I frequent, but parking is there and they even offer drive-thru service. The music inside is, of course, the golden oldies! If you're craving messing and just down to goodness food, this is it. Don't let the location and look fool you either."

Hard to know when he is open and says he closes at 6 but was open later when I went. I like the naan wrapper for the fried chicken "sandwich". It was soft and moist not dried out. The chicken comes in small pieces fried with some good flavor. I can't comment on all the toppings as I go pretty plain. The chicken wasn't dry but since they are small pieces they also aren't juicy. I'm still in the hunt for a thick juicy fried chicken sandwich. Ping me if you have recommendations. The homemade chips were good when they were crispy but get soggy quickly if you take them to go. There are picnic tables around to sit and eat.

On our way back to our hotel, we decided to pick up some dinner so we wouldn't have to leave the hotel again. Based on yelp reviews, we decided to try Bistro 23. To be honest, when I found it, I judged this book by its cover. I probably would not have stopped if it hadn't been for the reviews. It looks more like a store front than it does a restaurant. Inside, there were some customers spread out in a large and spacious but somewhat sterile looking dining room. But she went inside to order, while I walked around with the dog outside. Pig in the Woods Pizza - 5 - Probably one of the best "Personal-size" pizzas I've ever had. The crust was tasty and not too thick. Ham was good, as were the mushrooms. The arugula on top was a bit wilted after a short drive. I'm not sure if that was intentional or not but it did not hurt the quality of the pie. Caesar Salad - 5 - She was very pleased with her salad. Dressing was on the side so the lettuce didn't get soggy.Grilled Cheese Sandwich and Tomato Basil Soup Combo - 5 - She ate 1/2 hot and the other half cold, the next morning. Tiramisu - 5 - Light and fluffy! The menu is small, but they do it quite well. We would not hesitate to return for another go!

That Dutch Crunch bread is a must! Quality meats and healthy portion sizes! I also appreciate the liberal serving size of lettuce because I love the added crunch and texture to my sammie's :) I always grab my order to go and walk across the street to APEX to enjoy with a crisp beer.

We stopped by to try an old classic. The place is falling apart. The burger is okay but I couldn't get past the ratty decor. The burger is big in circumstance but again the ratty decor had me distracted. The service was good but again the decor is a hot mess. They only had 1/2 of the dining room open the staff was sitting and eating on the other side. This place is well past its shelf life. The burger no matter how big is not worth sitting in a stinky old diner.

A warm egg sandwich and a cup of hot beverage is there a better way to start the day? Maybe add a crispy has brown patty with magic spud sauce! While visiting Portland, my friends and I were always trying to look for local eats and while the city had a variety of lunch and dinner choices, we didn't find a lot of breakfast spots outside of chain restaurants. We then stumbled upon Fried Egg I'm In Love and as you can guess, they specialized in fried eggs specially egg sandwiches paired with a variety of different ingredients and sauces. They do have three locations throughout Portland, but I don't really count that as a chain and the closest one to me was only a couple miles away in Sunnyside, and yes, I found the irony funny as well. They didn't have a dedicated parking lot, but at 8:30 in the morning it was easy to find parking on the street. Walking into the restaurant the decor reminds me of a fast-food joint, with a menu on the wall and someone taking orders behind a register, but don't let that fool you. The thing to keep in mind is that it gets busy quickly, and they make your meal when you order. There was a sign as we walked through the door that orders placed at that time will take approximately 20-30 mins. Good thing we weren't in a rush. Their menu included their breakfast sandwiches, burritos, and bowls, all with unique names. I chose the Egg Zeppelin since it came with "holy aioli" with eggs over easy, and of course I had to add on a Hash Bite since I needed to try their magic spud sauce. My friends ordered the Sriracha Mix-A-Lot (also with eggs over easy), and 'Rito Suave since my sister didn't like runny eggs. She's missing out, I know. A welcomed surprise after ordering is that the order took only 15 minutes to come in instead of the estimated 20. First thing I noticed before digging in is that the sandwich is huge with the egg and sausage patty drooping over the side of the sourdough bread. The eggs were cooked exactly as expected with a runny center and the sausage was juicy and not overly salty. If you order the sandwich with eggs other than scramble, make sure you get extra napkins since it will get messy. Was the Hash Bite worth it? Yep, the magic spud sauce gave it an extra kick of flavor so I would recommend trying it out. Overall, it was a great breakfast. If you love egg sandwiches, I highly recommend you giving it a try if you are in town. I know it's going back on the list the next time I pop by Portland. Oh, and for the Pokémon Go players out there, yes there is a gym in the area, so you'll be able to play as you wait for your food to arrive.

First Bahn Mi for me and it was pretty good and very reasonably priced. I got the #1 house special. No line when I went, so super quick and in and out in a couple of minutes. The bread is that super crispy crust that breaks when you bite into it with the nice fluffy inside. (A bit messy to eat with the crumbs). A nice taste and while I'd like a bit more meat, it was all balanced equally. For me personally, I'd skip the little bit of cilantro as it's not my favorite. Overall, definitely a place I'd go to again for a quick lunch.

"This place is tucked away into a strip mall and I'm glad I stumbled upon it when exploring the new area I live in. The woman working was so so so sweet and everything I ordered was really delicious. I'd like to come back and try her soups and dishes. The prices were reasonable and banh mi's aren't 12-15 dollars at the insane spots where they charge an arm and a leg.I'll def be back!"
"Stopped in for a juice. Came back my last day for another juice and a sandwich for the airplane ride home. The first time I thought the juice had a little too much ginger so I asked for a little less the second time. Both were great though. How I contained myself not to eat the sandwich until the plane was questionable. I got the chicken salad with grapes and walnuts on a baguette. It was incredible. I would order it again. Next time I would request they cut it in half. Love this place. Will eat here again if I return to Portland."
"4 and a half stars for the price, service, and location.Good quality food and decent portion for what you get in a fish place.Place looks pretty historic, 50s/60s looking decor and age all around.Lots of locals of various ages here.. mainly older as I believe a lot of them are neighborhood regulars since they were kids and have came here for years.Cioppino I got had a light tasting broth, but the fishes such as catch of the day salmon, scallops, shrimp were pretty fresh.. if only their scallops were biggerWife's Captain Platter type dish was perfectly executed with light batter of scallops, oysters, scallops, cod.. very addictive.. butThey have the best waffle fries.. tasted like something McDonald's would taste like"
"We stopped in on a Sunday morning. I thought It would be like most places in the city and jammed. It was not. We arrived shortly after opening and found it mostly empty. You place your order at the counter and they call your number when it's ready. The food was tasty and quick. It has a pub atmosphere so it might be fun in the evenings as there is a full bar. It may be good in the evening and the next day if you feel like a little Irish for your coffee.Bathrooms require a key and are outside and around the corner. All in all a good stop and I would definitely stop again."
"We went to The Portland Bottle Shop on one of our latest trips there. We wanted a bottle shop with a large can selection of local breweries and we definitely found that here and purchased quite a few cans to take home that nicely met those specifications. The great thing was not only did they have a good selection to take home in cans but they also served food and had beer on tap. We both got a beer, Steve and I to go along with our meal. For lunch I had a delicious Portobello Mushroom sandwich which was excellent! Very fresh ingredients and very, very flavorful. I haven't had this particular mushroom in a while and it was great to have it in this sandwich! Lots of other promising sandwich and lunch options as well!I'd love to come back because not only was the food great but this location is in a neighborhood I'm not familiar with at all and I would love to explore it some more!"
"Hi Yelpers,I Pray all is well. The sandwiches are good and fair. That's worth a taste. The beef stew was in a small, small togo container. I will have to take a picture of it. Idk whether I could spend anymore money when we have lots of other choices. Peace & Many Rich Blessings"
"I've driven by this Hawaiian-food restaurant at least a couple hundred times, yet I had never popped in to actually try it. They have strange hours; mainly late morning to about five pm, which is typically outside my schedule. They focus mainly on catering, but do have a small dining area in the front of the building. I decided to try it out, since there aren't any other Hawaiian food places that I know of in North Portland. I got the chicken rice plate with a double order of mac salad. The chicken was grilled with a nice layer of char, and lightly sweetened with a hint of spice. It was good quality chicken and they gave me quite a large portion, on top a bed of rice. The mac salad was nice and creamy, with large macaroni noodles. Again, huge portions and even with a single side I would have been satisfied. The price for this with a Diet Coke? 10.25. Yup, you read that right, only $10.25. Considering the portion size and the quality, I am very impressed and believe it's a good bargain. The service was very nice also, and my waitress was attentive and checked frequently on us. The dining area is minimal, they do not serve alcohol, and I don't believe they have wi-fi. It's definitely no-thrills, but if you want good food at a reasonable price it delivers. They also do to-go orders over the phone or online, and offer a deal where you get a free meal if you order ten times online. My only critique is their fairly limited hours, and wishing they could be a bit more flexible for the traditional crowd. But I also understand they focus more on catering rather than dine-in."
"Randomly looked for this place for a quick breakfast. And this turned out to be very nice. I only tried dishes with eggs (no ham, no bacon) - and breakfast items were very nice. Ambience is good too and service is quick."
"This is a great old fashion bar & grill. They have vintage indoor booth seating as well as pretty decent bar seating. Our go is outside at the tables watching the westmoreland wildlife go by with the pack while enjoying a classic smash burger."
"Ducked in from the rain for my wife to order a coffee; she ended up ordering a hot coconut milk tea with boba instead, and after one sip, I ordered something similar (a hot vanilla milk tea with boba) for myself! I generally avoid such drinks for calories' sake, but I couldn't help myself: they're just too good!Glancing over the rest of the menu, they're rocking all sorts of awesome teas, milk or otherwise, including Thai, iced and loose leaf varieties, tea lattes, Italian sodas and smoothies, plus a delectable array of Bahn Mis (one of my absolute favorites!) and breakfast sandwiches. It may have been bad weather and a happy accident that brought us in here, but we will return of our own volition in the future! What a great find!"
"I met up a friend here for lunch as it was a convenient spot for us. It's nice that they have both indoor and outdoor seating. The outside patio is nice. It is counter service, and once you order, you find a place to sit. I ordered the combo vermicelli bowl and also a roasted pork banh mi to share. I think I may have come here on an off day as the chicken and pork for my vermicelli bowl was a bit dry. The roasted pork was a bit dry, and the bread could be toasted a bit longer. I think having extra hot sauce would help, but they were all out and had whatever was left in the table. Again, maybe an off day, I'll have to come back again."
"Hands down one of the elite sandwich shops in PDX. Same level as Pasture, but definitely rocking their own style. I and a friend have a bi-weekly lunch meetup where we seek out great sandwiches. Generally I order whatever is closest to an Italian grinder as my benchmark. But these folks had not one, but two epic Italian sandwichesThe Dom - closer to your classic Italian but the cherry pepper relish, vinny levels, are all very on point. Elite execution.Mama Fratelli - at first I was skeptical of hot honey(sugar hacks), but it was just the right levels to make all the ingredients blend together in a unique way. The big slices of fresh mozzarella, and pesto aioli, along with all the high quality meats made for the perfect sandwich. This was probably favorite of the two.The sandwiches are also very ergonomic(this matters!). Easy to hold, everything stays in place as you eat, even though the filling portions are generous and saucy. All on Dos Hermanos bread that was soft, just thick enough to soak up all the juices without falling apart, and doesn't dominate the flavor of the sandwich. Amazing home made lemonades as well, served up by some friendly folks. They just changed locations but I predict long lines and wait times soon here. Get in!"
"And here we were again yesterday! This time we sat near the back, and I mixed it up by ordering a tasty (but not too filling) waffle. My Son enjoyed his Omelet dish and over a big glass of OJ. Down to Earth is just that."
"I visited Riverwalk Cafe several times during my stay in the south waterfront. It was a short, easy walk from the Residence Inn and had way better breakfast options. The Breakfast Burrito is packed with the goods and was so filling. The chicken apple sausage is great! I highly recommend! Also, the Chocolate Chip Pancakes are wonderful! Mine were generously loaded with chips. The prices are incredibly reasonable for the city! Wonderful location as well, the river is gorgeous to admire on a sunny day. Service was friendly every time. I totally recommend!"
"I ordered the chicken panini and a caramel latte. It was delicious! Highly recommended! Place is really nice and clean!"
