Rachel M. "It was a nice surprise to see this place was nearby our hotel in Clackamas because I love Bob's Red Mill products. Even though the parking lot was full, the place had a lot of people, but it wasn't overwhelming. The store is a great spot for any home cook, and I would go here regularly if I lived in the area. The store is neatly organized with different aisles for gluten free options, baking, and bulk items. It also includes a restaurant that appears to get pretty busy with dining tables on both levels.I ordered the Whole Grain Biscuit Breakfast Sandwich (3.5 stars). The biscuit was a bit crumbly and soft, but it was not dry. I liked how the egg was cooked with a slice of Tillamook cheddar cheese and crispy bacon. Even though the biscuit isn't as good as Pine State Biscuits, the sandwich was simple yet satisfying. The side of fruit (4 stars) was good as every piece was ripe and refreshing. I also ordered a side of gravy (1 star), and it was so bland. The Homestyle Potatoes (4 stars) were delicious. My husband had the Vegan Pancakes (3.5 stars), which you can also request to be wheat free too. The texture was fluffy, which isn't easy to achieve. After I placed my order, I was told it would take 20 minutes. They handed out a pager so you can browse the store without missing your order. Even though I didn't buy anything from the store, I saw various Bob's Red Mill products that are not usually in my local grocery store. Overall, it's a cool spot with 4 star service, and I'm glad I found it through Yelp."

Matthew U. "Needing a bite to eat, we stopped out front of this place to take a quick look at the menu. After skimming it over I found something that I knew I would like and we decided this would be a good place to grab a quick dinner. When we entered we were greeted and asked where we wanted to sit. We didn't really care and let the host show us to a seat. It kind of felt like we were purposefully taken on a long walkthrough of the whole restaurant before shown our seat. Our drink order was taken immediately upon us sitting down and at that point of the day all I wanted was water. It was odd that the host served us our drinks, but it also felt like we were disrupting his day. Honestly, that was the only low point.Once we had time to look over the menu we were greeted by our server and our order was placed. After placing the order we were able to appreciate the seat we were sat at. Maybe that walkthrough was done to make the appreciation so much more. Where we were seated we had a wide view of the street outside without the noise and possibility of weather change. This is a great place to people watch as well. After a bit our food finally showed up and we started to dig in. I went with the Tillamook Cheeseburger. I know, why come to an oyster bar and not partake in the oysters. Well, short answer is I think they are gross and I'm allergic, so no thank you. However, that cheeseburger is a must in my opinion. You get three patties seared on the grill and then they are smothered with Tillamook cheese. The bun is toasted and it is topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, and thousand island dressing. Think Big Mac with an extra patty, a ton more cheese and so much more flavor than you would expect. With this you get the choice of fries, coleslaw, or salad. Of course I went with fries. This was a behemoth to eat, but I managed by cutting it in half and taking my time. It was a filling meal and definitely something I would get again. After we paid and were heading to the door we were stopped once more. I assume that the gentleman that stopped us was the owner or manager of the place. He was pleasant and asked us how our meal was. He also made it a point to encourage us to come back."

The food was pretty tasty but was shocked at the pricing which was comparable to SF food pricing. We got some bread and butter to start and was ok. The salad we got was really refreshing and dynamic as was the crawfish rice. Really unimpressed by the chicken--not super flavorful or juicy but at least it was a good texture. The fries that came with the chicken were quite soggy from being doused in sauce. Would not recommend. Overall, a decent hidden food spot in a suburban neighborhood with beautiful skyline views but I wouldn't go out of my way to come back if I'm visiting again."

I have ordered delivery several times and always found the food to be fresh and full of flavor. My favorite items to order are the yellow curry and the Thai basil fried rice. Although every dish I've tried has been tasty and good enough to reorder. I like that they advertise that they are vegetarian friendly. They use no MSG and all dishes are free of Trans fat. Good things to know. Someday I will venture inside the restaurant to dine. Whether you dine in or order food to go, you'll enjoy your meal."

The first time I thought the juice had a little too much ginger so I asked for a little less the second time. Both were great though. How I contained myself not to eat the sandwich until the plane was questionable. I got the chicken salad with grapes and walnuts on a baguette. It was incredible. I would order it again. Next time I would request they cut it in half. Love this place. Will eat here again if I return to Portland."

I asked which was better and the lady said corned beef today because it is a fattier cut today. Well, that's darn good advice. The bread was really good but it was too soft for the sandwich. Perhaps toasted or grilled? But delicious rye bread. The meat was very tender and flavorful. Lots of it too. I've been looking for a sandwich like this for a while. Very friendly service. Matt B. "Absolutely incredible Burmese food, amongst the best I've ever had. My highest recommendation. I stopped in for lunch with a friend, and we shared three dishes. Ordering is done at the counter, and staff bring the food out shortly thereafter. We ordered:-Lahpet Thoke ($14; prepared vegan by omitting the fish sauce) -- this is the classic Burmese fermented tea leaf salad. Their execution of it was top-notch, with fantastic textures from the deep fried fava beans, pulses, crunchy cabbage, crushed peanuts, fried onions, tomato, and of course the tea leaves, and dressed with a nicely acidic dressing. Phenomenal stuff.-Shan Tofu ($11) -- this is the classic Burmese chickpea tofu dish, though this particular version of the dish was quite different: very creative and impeccably prepared. You get thin slices of chickpea tofu, topped with crushed peanuts, shredded cabbage, and other stuff, accompanied by a somewhat rich, tangy, oily, somewhat sweet dressing. This was incredible.-Tofu Nway ($16) -- this was the most unusual dish we ordered. The dish is centred around rice noodles and cooked with a chickpea tofu sauce -- I had never seen tofu used this way. Coming with it is mustard greens, a couple dal fritters, and various garnishes. Brilliant combination of flavours and textures once again.Friendly, quick service, reasonably priced, very generous portions. I can't praise the food enough. Don't miss this when in PDX."

I think it's called Express or something similar. It's too big for me to finish while I'm inside. I get a To Go box. Schmoopie ordered Chicken Mole. It has rice (with tomato sauce) and refried beans. Schmoopie said the salsa wasn't spicy. It was. I ate a lot of chips with the bean dip before my order was brought to the table. Schmoopie and I sat in the middle of the dining area. There was a game on the television. Schmoopie also got a To Go box. Schmoopie requested flour tortillas. I gave Schmoopie some of the guacamole that was on my burrito to put on his rice. Schmoopie likes La Isla Bonita. Schmoopie also likes that there are lots of parking spots. I didn't order any alcohol. I ordered a glass of apple juice. I practiced my Spanish with the server. Schmoopie ordered something that he likes. He said his food was tasty. My Express burrito was tasty as well. I recommend the Express burrito."

Walk up and order, get your number and some indoor seating and a lot of protected patio seating. So first very helpful owner Leticia helped me figure out the best margarita and offered me the happy hour prices with 2 minutes to spare. We ordered the chips but I wanted the Guava margarita and it wasn't on the happy hour. It didn't matter I loved the margarita, could taste the alcohol but it was smooth and the guava flavor was excellent. As I mentioned I got the fajitas and they were very flavorful with just a hint of heat which was perfect for me. Comes with four corn tortillas which held together well and were good quality. I did order a side of white cheese and it was more than I needed so I may ask for less next time as $2.50 was a bit more than I was expecting but $18 for fajitas is reasonable and I was stuffed!Husband got a burrito on a whole wheat tortilla and held the rice so nice they have those options. He loved it and also said very flavorful. It was the one with green sauce and cheese but would have liked a bit more guacamole and sour cream as guac was so good. Also hard to find burritos in Portland. Leticia also came over to check on us and introduce herself and she is from Mexico City. Super friendly and helpful. I got a chance to try their combos and to my surprise it was good and with no MSG. Kung Pao Chicken has a great amount of chicken, vegetables, peanuts and spice! The combo was a good portion, came with 5 pieces of fried shrimp, 4 crab puffs, good amount of fried rice and almond chicken-chow mein. I was able to substitute egg roll for fried rice! The almond chicken had a nice flavor with the mixture of vegetables. The crab puff and shrimp was crispy and not oily. This is a great family-owned business, they really care about the customers and the food they serve. They are open for pick up, just order via phone & delivery through door dash. Nyla M. "What a pleasant discovery! This little gem opened quietly and has been turning out solid, dependable, fresh food ever since. The lunch combination box is a strong reason for giving Shaku a try. You pick two of the entrees, which include such gems as fresh tuna and salmon sashimi, salmon or beef yakisoba, spicy chicken (which is), barbecued spare ribs, and other well prepared tastes. It comes with a crispy salad, miso soup, two chicken dumplings, and a California roll-which they cheerfully customized for me to exclude that fake krab. Both my friend and I were more than filled by the sashimi and sides, taking home our respective second entrees and rice for a later meal. The sashimi was fresh, moist, flavorful-nice cuts of fish. The salads, while simple, were crisp and provided a nice counterpoint to the tender fish. The miso was basic yet tasty. Those dumplings are well prepared but I could only eat one. My companion happily finished my second in addition to hers. I ordered the spicy chicken. The chicken was tender; breast and thigh strips marinated in a sauce with a surprising kick on your tongue after a few seconds. My friend had beef teriyaki, which she pronounced tender and rich in flavor. A chatty neurosurgeon at a table behind us said she's come three times to work her way down the menu. She was taking two orders to go for her surgical team to enjoy. They've redone this former sushi train joint (which had grown pretty shabby), creating a bright, light filled, cheery space. The decor reflects pride and loving attention. Our server, Claire, was attentive without being cloying, helpful, prompt. The chefs turned our meals out quite quickly. I have no idea why more people haven't discovered this little spot unless it's because it doesn't reek of self conscious hip and trendy. But it deserves to be supported. The prices are quite fair, the ambiance is welcoming, service is excellent, and the food was prepared with attention to detail. I'll be back. With others."

I was happy she clued me in on the slushies and we both tried them both. Lime and coconut were the two and they were both made with coconut milk, having that creaminess. Delicious! I was getting brain freeze though - it was pretty hot out and I just cannot do super cold when I am super hot. Delicious as they were I had to just get a Mexican coke with a big old cup of ice. My friend grabbed a slushie and added a shot to it which you can do!The food was great - I tried her Kahlua pork which was great. I got the teriyaki chicken and the chicken katsu - both were very good though the BBQ sauce served with the katsu was a lot more liquid and vinegar forward that I like so I used their teriyaki sauce. Their mac salad is a lot more sweet than previous experiences at other places and my friend said that they use a lot more pineapple. It is very creamy and I did like it. What I was not a fan of was the butter mochi cake but I am not a fan of that texture which I think is correct. Robert H. "Today Portland has a shortage of restaurant workers; front of house and back of house.Stone Soup is a cafe training up homeless individuals for the restaurant industry. It's a 4 week program followed by an internship at local restaurants and groceries. They have attracted collaborators from some of Portland's top restaurants. The menu, lunch now, and a few days open for happy hour, is simple, and the quality is high: soups, salads, sandwiches, and dessert.I had the gazpacho and the Greek salad. The gazpacho was blendered to smooth, lightly spiced and accompanied good quality Grand Central toasted bread. The Greek salad had peak Summer tomatoes, arugula, crunchy cucumbers and chunk feta. The restaurant is counter service, and diners collect their own utensils and iced lemon water. Stone Soup is in the old Gilt space, which was dark and home to the famous Portlandia Colin the Chicken. Now it's light, with natural fir floors, maple tabletops, a bar, windows all around, and WiFi. They can do private dinners and cater too. Did I say that the food is very reasonably priced, and that the entire project is a nonprofit?Stone Soup is a beautiful classic story found in many cultures. And it's a restaurant with a cause."
