Yuli L. "Yuzu is one of beaverton institutions, a hidden gem. In fact, it could be challenging to find their shop as it simply marked "YUZU" on their entrance. It's been a while since I was there, so I was pleasantly surprised nothing really has changed. Knowing there were limited seatings , we called ahead to make a reservation and we were glad we did. Many drop in customers had to wait for 30 minutes or turned away, which could be a bummer. The food here is Japanese beer house style. You'll find some rice balls, grilled meat, and other common Japanese dishes such as Katsu and ramen here. We ordered some sake, grilled shishito peppers, the house ramen and katsu curry rice, and liked all of what we ordered. The ramen was rich and savory, with fall apart pork belly chunks. My boyfriend really enjoyed the smooth curry and crunchy pork katsu as well.It was fun to see what the chef was doing thru the open kitchen, and our servers were very friendly and attentive, which made our dining experience very enjoyable. Overall, we like this little gem in beaverton and will come back again."

John K. "I haven't been the big ramen fan in my family, but that situation may not last. Our family paid a visit, knowing that I would be thrilled with the katsu chicken on their menu. Everyone else at the table had different ramen varieties, and the samples I tried of my wife's choice had me thinking about a return visit to try their signature dishes.Baku Umai is a casual space in a relatively new building, so the ambiance here is laid back, with splashes of local basketball and landmarks as decoration. Patrons order at the counter, and tables are well stocked with all the spoons, chopsticks, napkins, and anything else you're likely to need."

Scott H. "Not really a big fan. At first I was kind of taken aback by the prices. It's possible I just haven't been out to sushi in a while but they seemed a little high. The stuff is definitely attractive. I give them points for presentation. Pretty good rice to filling ratio. Seasoning on rice was ok. Little light but better too light than too heavy. I guess my main complaint was some of the crab salad rolls tasted fishy. I'm not sure what constitutes real crab but it didn't not live up to expectations either. The tempura roll was my favorite. I enjoyed the Japanese lasagna too. Not too sure I'd come back on my own accord."

Sarah C. "I had a gift card to Tokyo-Ya. Located in the Eastport Plaza mall, it's not the most desirable destination. Easy parking in the lot. For a little under $50, we got two ramen bowls, edamame, sesame balls, green tea, and mochi ice cream. Everything was fine - decent noodles and broth, wish my spicy bowl had a more kick to it, good portion size. Staff was attentive. Service was quick. Decor was nice and the place was clean. In a city full of great ramen, this place would need to offer either a lower price point or a more outstanding taste to get me to become a regular."

Chad C. "I came here specifically because I saw that dipping noodles was on the menu. I haven't seen this anywhere since I was in Japan as part of an exchange program in high school, so I had to come!First off, this place is kind of unassuming, but what I've found is that unassuming places usually have the best food at the best prices. It's in a strip mall/shopping complex, with parking out front and a bunch of different restaurants in the complex. The restaurant is narrow, but really deep. You actually sit at booths that line the kitchen, and you can hear the chefs cooking.I'll admit, I was a bit nervous about the recipe that they were going to use for the dipping noodles. I've never heard of "bonito dashi" and had to look it up. (And yeah, I know that trip to Japan really served my Japanese skills well.) I'll admit I'm not a super big fan of seafood or fish, so I told the server if it was possible to avoid the bonito in my order. The server was beyond polite and accommodating, and after a quick conversation, we decided I'd probably like the broth from the black garlic tonkatsu. She went the extra mile and served the black garlic sauce on the side as a just in case. After a quick taste test, I dumped all that black garlic into my broth! And the noodles were unbelievable - it definitely wasn't the same dish that I had in Japan, where the noodles were served cold and with a tiny dish of dipping sauce. This was a full-sized bowl of noodles with a full-sized bowl of broth. You took noodles from one bowl, dipped them fully in the broth, and ate them. My friend got the Umami bowl. The chicken karaage in it looked delicious!Hands down, I will be coming here again when I'm next in the area!"

John L. "Very quaint pace tucked in the neighborhood of St. John's. Friendly service and very clean. The ramen is too notch with a heavy creamy broth and chewy noodles that soaks up the broth as you slurp. Reminds me of Japan. The fried rice with spicy tuna is innovative but not too my taste however. A great place to get a hot bowl of ramen for sure."

Mia H. "I would always pass by this ramen shop and be intrigued by the "ramen, poke, and whiskey" written in large letters on the window. Although it seems small and not very busy, I was fairly surprised dining in. Walking in, just before dinner rush, it was quiet, small, and had few people. However, within 30 minutes to an hour, the place became packed and there was no seating (it was a surprise there was no line for a wait). The inside was intimate and dim lighting, but had plenty of seating. Service here was fairly quick and so kind.My friend and I both had curry dishes, taro chips, and pork belly. Although all of the dishes came in HUGE portions and were delicious, my favorite was the taro chips and poke. I've never eaten poke in such a way and the use of taro chips was amazing. There was so much flavor and the poke was so fresh. I would love to come back here another time just for the chips and poke. Definitely recommend."

Stephen C. "I could not believe the level of quality ramen that Tao is serving out his food cart. I stumbled across Cartlandia cause I was down the street at Best Buy. Decided to grab some lunch and out of all the carts. I choose Miss. Ordered the classic Miso with some mushrooms. After a few minutes, I got my food. First I was surprised of how big the bowl was. This was a huge bowl of ramen. The pork and broth quality of this ramen definitely compares and even surpasses quality some restaurants have. Overall: This place is worth a try for sure."

My husband and I ordered the spicy ramen and hibachi yakisoba for my toddler. They said their high chairs were broken but they had booster seats that attach to their chairs. They also had toddler chopsticks and bowls so that was nice. The ramen was really delicious and not too salty. Unfortunately they forgot the yakisoba until we were almost done eating so my toddler had to wait for them to make it once we bought it to their attention. They did apologize. The yakisoba was okay. But I think their ramen was on another level and I can see myself ordering that again"

Lisa D. "Never been to Japan, Tomo Ramen felt like what I imagine the ramen shops are like there. Not recommended for parties larger than 3, this space is very cozy and efficient. The tonkotsu ramen is massive and comes with ginger, garlic and chili to adjust flavor to your liking. The quail eggs and the pork with perfectly seared lines were the highlights. I was happy to have leftovers. And the karaage chicken was so dang delicious, too!The playlist while dining was early 90s top 100; which made this unique dining experience feel pretty relaxed."

Ploy N. "Been seeing amazing reviews for this spot and was very excited to drop by. Can confirm, their ramens are very good! The shop is super homey, staffs were all very friendly and hard-working.Their menu is sufficient with a few varieties of ramen broth and meat options you can choose from. We went with the Creamy Tomato Ramen and the Tonkotsu Black Garlic Ramen. Both were very flavorful and delicious. The broth of the creamy tomato was so unique. There were parmesan cheese and pesto that went very well with the well-balanced tomato broth; I loved this one more than I thought I would. You also get thicker noodles in this one -- amazing. The corn and chicken toppings were fresh. The tonkotsu ramen was also well-executed. Rich broth from pork bone and the garlic oil added a layer of depth to it. What I like was how tender their chashu pork was, without being overly fatty like most ramen places. The Chicken Karaage was also 10/10. Very tender chicken and fried to the perfect crispiness. So glad to have another solid ramen spot in town!"

Jason V. "I was honestly a little overwhelmed by the variety of choices available here at the Happy Valley Station, which my wife and I stumbled upon by accident. However, as soon as I saw the words "Spicy Beef Bulgogi" out of the corner of my eye, all doubt was cleared from my mind. This was it. This was what I wanted. I sauntered up to the window and placed my order, informing the owner to make it as spicy as possible. He chuckled, and after my order was handed to me, humbly requested I return to let him know what I thought of it, and "how it went".It went so, so very well!My order came to me in about 5 minutes, positively loaded with chili peppers and spicy goodness, a thick savory sauce, plenty of onions (I *love* green onions) and just the right amount of beef, I was in absolute heaven! It seemed a bit sacrilegious to order Korean from a Japanese(-named) food cart, even more so when ordering rice instead of noodles from a "noodle house" but whatever the ethnicity or choice of carb, these guys know what they're doing!A return to the Happy Valley Station food carts is a foregone conclusion, but to be honest, I may be spoilt for other choices. I'm pretty adventurous and enjoy quite a bit of variety in my dining options, but Sakura Noodle House might as well take over the entire food cart pod, because I'll be blind to everything else, like a frenzied bull charging a matador, I'll be seeing red (chili peppers) and won't stop for anything else!"

Deb F. "Ramen Ippo recently relocated to the Nob Hill Food Carts pod, which isn't as convenient for me, but hopefully he'll get more business at this location. Still the same delicious ramen! I prefer the Ippo Ramen, which is a chicken paitan broth. Husband got the spicy Tantan ramen, which comes with ground pork and peanut butter miso. Both are excellent! I've driven up there twice during the Covid-19 lockdown to get dinner to take home. The owner packaged the broth separate from the noodles so they wouldn't turn to mush on the 25 min drive home. I also tried the karaage meal box, which was delicious! Lots of crisp fried chicken on a bed of rice with a green salad on the side. I asked for the sauce on the side, to keep it from getting soggy during travel. Ramen Ippo also participated in Wisky+Ramen event in 2019, and they earned one of my votes for their ramen. They were up against of the best in P-town, and did very well. Definitely on my top 5 ramen spots in Portland!"

We got it a couple months back and I had been dreaming about it ever since! While I was a little disappointed (but not too much, it was a special after all!) I didn't want to leave empty handed. Their special last night was a cheese corn dog! I had never had one before and the wonderful woman working said it's a super popular item. So I got one to try and wow... I wish they would put it on the menu! It was seriously so good. Crunchy, cheesy, and had the best spicy mayo on top. Ploy N. "A cool izakaya with an open kitchen, serving both their well-known ramens and smaller plates. The vibe is certainly more upscale than their other locations. We got seated at the bar by the kitchen which was very fun to observe the chefs doing their things. We got a number of small plates to share between the two of us and honestly five plates filled us up decently. The Ochazuke was interesting but I wouldn't go back for it, weirdly sour for some reasons. The Uni Sesame Tofu was fun. Texture was kinda slimey because of the okra so do be aware but the flavors were good and refreshing. Their Wagyu Tartare was our favorite of the night. Amazing flavors. Paired super well with the crispy wontons. 10/10 here. We finished off with the Futomaki and Hotatemaki. The Futomaki was the better of the two but the Hotatemaki was more novel. Both were very fresh and tasty though.Overall, a fun spot perfect for a date night!"
