Humam T. "We've been here so many times on our way to Al-Amir Bakery. Last time we came here the bakery was out of business. We decided to give them a shot since we watched the restaurant come together from the beginning. The place is immaculately clean. It feels like you're eating in someone's kitchen which for all practical purposes you are; since, it's a family business and the dough is made by the mother... Everything we've tried so exceeded expectations. We liked it so much that we came back two days later. We also wanted to support a growing business."

Frank J. "This is the place for you if you like comfort food. Definitely not the healthiest as the burger and fries were extremely greasy. But a very tasty, thick burger and not one of those frozen hockey pucks. Fries were ok and there was a mountain of them. But again, very greasy and since I've been eating a lot healthier the past decades or so, there was a major rebellion going on in my gut a few hours later. No complaints. It is what it is and they are clear that they serve comfort food. And comforting it was. Went there specifically for the clam chowder which they only serve on Fridays. It was meh. I'm from Boston so I know what really good clam chowder is supposed to taste like and this clearly wasn't it. Watery. Barely a clam fragment to be found. Really difficult to find good clam chowder here on teh left coast even at the coast. The best I've had so far was a yuppie scum la-dee-dah place up in Port Townsend that I hit for a b'day dinner a while back. If I'm back this way again I'll try the chili instead. They apparently sell a lot of pizza but to me, this is a beer and a burger joint. My companions had fried fish and fried shrimp. I guess it was ok. Heard no complaints (or praise). It was the first visit for the three of us.We hung around for three hours chatting over beers. No one tried to shoo us off wanting the table which is always appreciated. Are you listening Red Robin? The saloon is large with massive tables and booths. But it filled up fast for lunch and the breakfast crowd was just clearing out when I got there. There's not much out this way. A couple of small burbs and that's about it. I was surprised to see it so crowded.I gave this place five stars because it is true to what it claims to be. If they were boasting they served healthy food the review would have been different. But this is just a nice, friendly townie saloon that serves mounds of tasty food at decent prices. Wait staff was what you'd expect. Cheerful, friendly, efficient. Just off the main highway (244) and easy enough to find but can't be seen from the main drag. Huge paved parking lot.Waitress was doing triple duty and was VERY busy. Only two waitresses working this day. Hard working ladies and they were great! Considering the crowd I'm guessing the cook was working hard also."

Chase M. "Well first off this place is not in a great location for covid, looks like all the surrounding businesses have slowed, so I hope they keep alive through this because that had some amazing burgers...Now when I first rolled up to this place it looked like a dusty bar on a long road out of town... surrounded buy a business park haha... naturally these days burgers are 12 bucks, these come with a side... and right now they're doing a beeer and burger/side for 10 bucks.. missed that by calling in my order!Got a few burgers and a chicken sandwich. Chicken was very generic, but was still good... the burgers were amazing, maybe I was super hungry.. maybe not, I thought they were the best burgers I've had in a while, granted I haven't been eating out much. They do it right, and the sides were all amazing. Fried onion rings, tots, and jojos were all hot and fresh, rings and tots reigned king."

Not sure if the dough is hand made and fresh. Toppings are really good though. I ordered The tiramisu for dessert and they make one of the best tiramisu's I have ever had! Staff here is impressive. Very friendly and proactive, which is nice to see. Pizza came out piping hot and right to my table. They waited to bring me the dessert and brought it over as I was eating my last pizza slice! I didn't have to ask or go to the counter, they kept an eye on me and brought it at the right time! Good food and a staff that has attention to detail! If only the could get that pizza crust right, they would have had 5 stars!!!"

Adam Z. "Hoooo boy. This place is special. Maybe the best place I've been to in Portland. Maybe the best in my life.Walking in, it's got a great vibe. Empty cans of tomato sauce on the tables. Modern, but not pretentious. Nice bathroom. Window pane showing the kitchen in the back. Not one of those chaotic kitchens. Very clean, spacious and professional looking. My favorite part was probably that, behind the cash register, you can see the big pizza oven and the guy making the pizzas. So cool. They've also got a lady making salads and stuff in the open. The menu is small. Only a handful of items. Which I think is awesome. It points towards a focus on quality.Oh, and tips are included in the prices. When was the last time you saw that? I thought it was great. It's how things work in most of the world outside of America. More importantly in my opinion, is that it demonstrates a deep care for the customers experience, and a prioritization of it over (short term) profit. That sort of thing really gives off good vibes to me, which contributes to the whole experience.Anyway, let's get to the food.My girlfriend and I got a margherita pie, the daily special pie, and special ice cream sundae. It was all incredible. My favorite was the margherita pie. It was so good that I had to get a second one after we finished desert.- The dough was great. Pretty good crispy on the outside and softness on the inside. I would have preferred the crust to have been a little puffier though.- Nice amount of charring. It added a little pop, but only a hint. The right amount.- A little dusting of flour left on it, if that makes sense. I really liked it. Kinda gives a bit of a raw, organic vibe to it.- The non-crust dough had a nice bend to it. It's not one of those pies where you can hold a slice by the crust and it stays straight. Which is usually what you want, I think.- I really, really liked the sourdough flavor it had. Very fun and pleasant. Somehow it comes through mostly as an aftertaste, which is perfect. Like when you take a bite it doesn't distract from the sauce and cheese, but then as you're finishing chewing, those sourdough notes come through.- Moving on to the sauce. It was excellent. Very fresh tasting. Not one of those cooked-all-sunday, sweet, deep, red sauces. No. There's a lot of pizza places with sweeter sauces that I've really liked, but this was not one of them. I've also had spicier red sauces that I've loved, but this wasn't one of them either. It was just a very simple, fresh, high quality, tomato sauce. I don't know what a "fresh" taste actually means, but it doesn't matter: this still tasted fresh. Something with a little acidic pop to it, but not too much. It was good. It cuts through the dough, oil and cheese.- It was very slightly chunky. Tomatoes were probably hand crushed. Personally I prefer sauce to be completely smooth, but this was also fine. Probably added to the experience of freshness.- The cheese was nice. Not your traditional fresh mozzarella. It felt like it had a little bit of tang to it. Maybe mixed in some sort of cheddar? I dunno.- It also had some saltiness. Which was good. The pizza in general had enough salt to bring out all of the flavors, but not really to the point where it tastes salty, which is perfect. I feel like other pizzas tend to be undersalted.- The basil on top was perfectly crisped. Not burnt, not uncooked. The daily special pie was also insanely good. I forget exactly what it had. Something like: pesto, garlic, zucchini, red onions, hot honey, some sort of cheese. I dunno. What I do know is that it was a huge flavor bomb. It smacks you in the face with all of those flavors. The pesto, the roasted garlic comes through. Red onions are cooked but also have a little bit of bite and crunch left in them. The sweetness and heat from that hot honey. Mmm. The sourdough from the dough comes through at the end. I did think that it was a little too sweet overall, but still incredible. The ice cream sundae was awesome.- That burnt honey ice cream was awesome. Creamy, salty, a little sweet, maybe a little savoriness.- The whipped cream or whatever that was on the side was clearly high quality and freshly made. Delicious.- The bread crumbs felt like they were toasted with butter and a bit of salt. Very good. I think they were a little too broken down though. I would have preferred bigger chunks so that you get a little more crunch in the dish for that textural contrast.- The blueberries were pretty good. The warmth was a great contrast to the cold ice cream. However, they weren't excellent. A little mild in flavor. I would have preferred more tartness and sweetness.Prices were incredibly reasonable. I forget exactly, but pies are something like $15-20 including tip and feed one person. For this quality of food, it's 100% a total steal. I'd pay like $50-100 for one of these pies, no joke.Like I said, this place is special and possibly the best place I've ever been to."

I really love "the Harissa" it is an amazing combination of flavors, and there isn't any PIzza Creation like that in Portland, that I've found. It has butternut squash, rose harissa, kale, leeks and mozzarella. I have been a vegetarian since June 2001, and it is one of my pet peeves, when the vegetarian option is "Vegetarian pizza" with olives, tomatoes, green bell peppers etc. But, I opt for different ingredients and flavors, and this one is so good!My ultimate secret- favorite part of the ensemble is the crust! The outside, corner pieces have this cheese baked onto the crust. It is so satisfying! And again, I haven't found anything else similar to this in Portland, and it is "Detroit Style" pizza, so plan on eating with a fork and knife on a plate! It is still manageable with your bare hands though! All of the times I have been there, I have ordered online first for whole pizzas, and it has worked really well. I just walk up to the window and it is ready for me. And, all their staff are. really friendly and nice. I was born in the early '80's so I like their design and ambiance. It is a fun reminder of the good ol' days! But, as far as sitting in a parlour space, this is not really the place for you. It is located in a prime area of Alberta, and they do have a hallway/sitting area but no tables with pitchers and video games. But, the pizza take-away brings those memories to life! Definitely check this place out!"

I'd been going to the PSU Hot Lips when it was around, back when I was in college, a loooong time ago lol. The fact that it's continued to be so delicious after all these years, decades even, is pretty amazing. Even great places aren't always consistent. Alden C. "Recently had and enjoyed Living Häus Beer! I had the Harris West Coast IPA and enjoyed fairly well out of the two different ones we had. At this point I have had enough West Coast IPA's that typically I prefer the New England IPA's which are also popular with breweries generating this type right now. No complaints with the beer however just going off of preference really. Flavor highlights with this beer sweet, hoppy and citusy. Smooth and resinous in body. What beer I enjoyed more was the brewery's Castorini Italian Pilsner. I do love a good Italian Pilsner and my rating bumps the brewery to five stars since I liked it so much. Whenever I sit down to a good Italian Pilsner I also long for a nice, authentic plate of pasta with olive oil to match up the taste of the Pilsner. Of course I love pasta too so there is that and having a beer like this pilsner would make it all the more special. Sometimes I get what I long for with this situation. It's mainly the dry flavor aspect that matches up with a good olive oil. This pilsner as I mentioned has a nice dryness along with a clean snap to it on the tongue with biscuity and floral flavors. A nice, light beer to have on a hot, summery day but in my opinion would be good anytime."

"Love 'em too much to ever exclude them from some Yelp lovin'.Oh Sparky's... your pizza, and particularly, your GARLIC TWISTS really revved me up, sparking a love affair I had with you for the while it lasted...I get nostalgic seeing the photos of my "neighborhood" Sparky's. I am indelicate with that term, for unfortunately, this location had no neighborhood to speak of at all (busy, trucking route with industrial feel all over). Hence, i would recommend the one further south on MLK, closer to NE Fremont, and newer as well. Sparky's has some wonderful, magical dough spell cast upon it... in fact, I had the opportunity to meet the young 20 something entrepreneur who opened this branch a few years ago.. He told me of his dream to own his own business, and the solid, wise steps to make it come to fruition. Their service is good, they're friendly, and they serve up wonderful slices! (it's truly the twists that got me all twisted in a knot of giddiness)They sell by the slice and occasionally have deals with coupons. In contrast to MI PIzza Pub, theirs is a thicker, more chewy, soft kind of dough, and puffier. The latter serves it larger, bit more crispy (though neither approximate NY-style.. hello to my local Gioia!!!!), and with more of the 'gourmet' toppings.S came through for me in pinches, when, bleary-eyed and in a full state of malaise, I had to stuff something down my throat before another 12 hour shift at Emanuel raised its premature head."
