"I can't say enough good things about pho hung, they're the original pho restaurant in Portland. They been opened since 1990 and I'm sure every Asian kid who has grew up in Portland knows this is a staple/OG.We love coming here on rainy days and so glad they were open this Christmas Day! The pho comes out piping hot and QUICK! Everything is so fresh and once you take that first sip it hits the soul. They definitely don't skimp on the meat like other pho restaurants do and the prices are very reasonable. If your adventurous, try the Super Bowl it's a little bit of everything and if your like my husband you can't go wrong with pho tai. Happy pho eating y'all!"
"Sheldon only eats Thai on Monday's, but I'll take Thai anytime, anywhere and especially if its so close to home . Red Onion has a huge fan following in the area and for good measures . The food is delicious , the service is fast and there are almost always lots of leftovers .We used to come to Red Onion even before they renovated . The fresh look is definitely more appealing and inviting but the prices are as good as before .Parking is always a pain in the area and worse on the weekends."
"A friend recommended this place to me since I was craving bun Bo HueThis place is so good for bun Bo hue, it has the right amount of spiciness, very flavorful and the noodles were good! I highly recommend it!We also ordered the banh cuon, but they forgot to make it, guess have to go back to get it next time!"
"Wow! This place is AMAZING!I headed in hungry at around three in the afternoon and to be honest, it took me a bit to figure out what I wanted to order.I ordered the #7 dry with broth on the side. It came with noodles, greens perfectly prepared pork and four dumplings. It was SO perfect ordering it this way as I could add a little broth, drink a little broth on it's own or leave the broth along entirely.Everything was so delicious, I got stuffed pretty quickly and started to tear up because I couldn't eat anymore."
"I wish we had one of these noodle places in Denver with this much variety all in one place. This place had so many amazing options from multiple Asian regions so we got Taiwanese, Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese noodles. I don't remember the dish, but the Vietnamese bowl of noodles was better than pho and had the best broth. I would definitely go back for just that noodle dish."
"Service was mid. You order at the kiosk for dining out. You can grab a seat and scan the QR code if you're dining in. Service was fast. Food looked authentic. I ordered the jianbing with beef and was disappointed that there was barely any beef... I paid extra for this. Overall size of the jianbing is generous but they skimp out on the beef! Credit card accepted."
"We were in the Beaverton area and had a taste for Thai for so we found this place. There are two ways to get to the restaurant, one is from the backside through the indoor mall that feels like a ghost town or the frontside from the street. Either way you arrive you'll be greeted by the hostess who will promptly seat you. The restaurant wasn't crowded and had the familiar decor as many Thai restaurants, a little on the busy side covered in Halloween type stuff. We ordered chicken pad Thai, pineapple fried rice and the yummy noodles with chicken, I can't remember the name. Oh and some curry pies that were absolutely delicious, full of potatoes and flavorful seasoning. Overall a good meal with good service."

I used to be a regular at this place many years ago when I used to live in Hillsboro. I still remember the small place that Vivi's was and the amazing smell as soon as we enter the restaurant. I recently happened to visit Hillsboro and both times I ended up going to Vivi's for lunch. I tried their Tofu rice plate recently and it was delicious, no change, nostalgic!

I always come to HK Café with my parents when I visit home. It is definitely one of the most affordable and authentic dim sum options in the area. The dishes are pretty reliably hot and fresh, and I always love dim sum when it comes from a push cart. The restaurant is huge so it is able to accommodate big parties!

Heard of this place for years but never walked in to try until today. This is one of the very few Thai restaurants I think have great food, taste, service is very kind and helpful. I recommend ordering anything really, because the main dishes are huge for the price you pay which isn't common, so yeah... I ordered the friend chicken bits and Kao Soi. Such a huge bowel. I wasn't expecting a big portion, but was pleased. The curry in the Soi is perfect with every bite. That chicken was tender and flavorful.

This place has some really good Bun Bo Hue. The store seems very unassuming from the outside, but the inside is clean and simple. I got the regular sized bowl, and I still felt like the portions were great. If you're extra hungry, you can opt to get a large size bowl. For the size of the bowl, I'd say the price is pretty fair. There is a discount if you use cash. I really love the flavor of the soup and the mix of all the ingredients in the bowl like the meat and vegetables. They do offer various other Vietnamese dishes, but I'd say you should definitely check this spot out if you're craving Bun Bo Hue.

"Wow, this might be the nicest restaurant I've ever eaten at. Not as in upscale and spend a lot of money nice, but as in an oasis of greenery with friendly staff, that fur serves impeccable and delicious food for a reasonable priceI lucked out because I just looked for something close and didn't even read the reviews. The parking lot was packed with cars, always a good sign, and the abundant and well cared for landscaping and building gave a welcoming and delightful vibe .Inside is a cavern environment, full of incredible plants so it feels like you are eating in a greenhouse .And yes, the food is the bomb. And it's quite reasonably priced. And the bathrooms are also lovely and the staff are very friendly. It was Sunday and they were slammed so it took a while for someone to take my order and for food to come, but other than that, I was very pleased with the experience. I'll be back. Frequently."
"The food was amazing! So delicious and fresh! We had dumplings, beef noodles, bok choy, shrimp noodles and cocktails. The service was amazing, our server was great with providing authentic recommendations to us since it was our first time there. We sat at the bar which was a lot of fun. Small but quaint inside and a great vibe. Definitely enjoyed our time here!"
"We were hungry. We needed comfort foods. This place came to the rescue.Broth was rich, noodles cooked just right, presentation excellent. Meats? Some on the dry side and others OK.I appreciated them for providing what I needed."
"I'm embarrassed to say it took several visits to Thailand to try Tom Yum soup, or anything Tom Yum-related. But when I finally did a few weeks ago, I fell in love.I tried several places in Portland to try a hot and spicy soup like you do in TH. Most places were very tomato soup-like. I was hesitant to try here, but I was really craving a good bowl. My husband picked it up on the way home. It did not disappoint!! He ordered it 4-star spicy, and it was actually spicy! I usually order mine as spicy as you can get it, and it's usually super mild. This was perfect! Make-your-nose-run spicy. It had a ton of chicken and seafood too. It did not lack. My husband ordered Massaman curry and it was excellent. Nice spice for him at 3 stars. And plenty of meat and veggies. We also got sticky rice and peanut sauce. Yum!"
"Food here is always fresh, flavorful and delicious! The layers of sweet, spice, sour and sweet are a party in your mouth! My favorite is Pad Kee Mao, which is Drunken Noodles on their menu. It's my go to dish when I'm craving Thai because I love the wide rice noodles and flavor components. Their version is light on the heat so I ask for chili oil and add heat to please my palette. They are also light on the protein so I ask for extra chicken for $3 more. One order is then enough for dinner and lunch the next day. Big open space with plenty of booths and tables. They have a full bar. Service is friendly. They also do a lot of takeout. Have their own parking lot making it super convenient. I'm always going from Portland to Hood River and back, and Thai Carnation is often where I stop for dinner to eat there or takeout to enjoy at home."
"The Pineapple Mojito cocktail was tasty.Enjoyed the Crispy Catfish Banh Mi, I wish it was offered as a rice dish. And the crispy egg rolls were a cut above the norm in size and taste. Price points are higher as the menu is a bit elevated as is the area. Friendly and quick service."
"Our first time here but definitely not the last. The people are lovely. The food terrific and the portions generous. My companion had the Yakisoba with chicken and gave it a 7 out of 10, would definitely have again if there weren't so many other things to try.I had the mango curry and it may be my goto. I doing have a lot of heat tolerance and it was perfect for me. The flavor is wonderful and I am looking forward to tomorrow's lunch.Highly recommend. We'll be back."
"Super five star place! Great food and great service!!!It's a regular stop for me. Spicy noodles in a laid back atmosphere!"
"I haven't been the big ramen fan in my family, but that situation may not last. Our family paid a visit, knowing that I would be thrilled with the katsu chicken on their menu. Everyone else at the table had different ramen varieties, and the samples I tried of my wife's choice had me thinking about a return visit to try their signature dishes.Baku Umai is a casual space in a relatively new building, so the ambiance here is laid back, with splashes of local basketball and landmarks as decoration. Patrons order at the counter, and tables are well stocked with all the spoons, chopsticks, napkins, and anything else you're likely to need."
"Very good food was somewhat empty once I got here but picked up after a while, service was cool, and the atmosphere was very basic. They ficus more on the quality of food verses decoration and all the other hype.It reminds me of Chin's Garden back in Detroit, MI, off 6 mile and Southfield Freeway service drive.Food there is similar, straight to the point, no frills, just good.If you haven't been here, I suggest that you stop by and try them out."
"No menu as they only offer three items, simple. The Bun Bo Hue was the star of the show, but the chicken pho was right up there with the best in town. Love the type of ice tea they serve.Pleasant service and overall atmosphere. And real Sriracha at every table."
"We love Frank's Noodle House & it's a must try when you're in town! We have ate at the Portland location and our first time at the Beaverton location. Service was friendly, food came out fresh & fast! Compared to the Portland location, Beaverton is larger, cleaner, more modern, plenty of parking versus street parking. We ordered the chicken fried rice, hand pulled noodles with shrimp, garlic bok choy and the pork dumplings. Every single dish was delicious and makes you want to eat more! Some of the best fried rice I have ever had. The taste level of the food is same as Portland. You cant go wrong with either location. We will come back again when we are in town next time!"
"There's just something about Pho that makes me very happy. I ordered my first bowl 25 years ago, and it's been a favorite treat ever since. I've eaten at many of the Vietnamese restaurants in Portland and I have my favorites, but honestly, sometimes convenience is all it takes for me to choose one over another. Pho Gia rates highly for a number of reasons. The restaurant is very centrally located on NE Sandy in between Hollywood and downtown, so it's never very far from the areas I frequent. Pho Gia has a pleasant vibe, is clean, and the waitstaff are generally pleasant. The food is always served very quickly, and I've never been disappointed with my meal. In fact, they have some of the best fresh herbs and garnishes I've ever been served in a Vietnamese restaurant before. Their hot chili oil with fermented soybeans is ridiculously good. I'm not sure if they make it in-house, but I always use it generously when I dine here.Parking can be a bit of a pain. There is a small parking lot around the corner that has 15 spots that are shared with other local businesses, and there are several spots in front of the restaurant on the street. There aren't many Vietnamese restaurants with outdoor seating in Portland, so I really appreciate the picnic tables on the sidewalk. It's a nice convenience when I want to take my dog out to dine with me. Pho Gia sits solidly amongst my Top 10 favorite Vietnamese restaurants in Portland. Though I've not sampled many of the other dishes they offer, my friends and family have always provided positive feedback."
"WOW one of the best pho in town. Its a must go if you're craving for some pho FOODWe got an assortment of dishes. The typical "#1 large", pork and chicken Banh Mi. The pho is absolutely fantastic. The soup tasted genuine and they gave a huge portion of meat as well. The only downside is the large looked about the same size as the regular one. The BanhMi is absolutely insane. It came out in a crunchy yet soft baguette and the fillings are grilled to perfection with ample amount of meat as well. SERVICEYou know the food is gonna be fantastic when the service is not the best and everyone seems to be in a rush. THIS PLACE IS THAT. Service is nothing to rave about compared to other restaurants but they get it done!!!ALL IN ALL, fantastic pho spot, highly recommend and it's our favorite place in Portland so far"
"What an improvement! I used to live in the neighborhood and wasn't that impressed so I used to drive miles to get good Thai food. Tried them again recently and I'm so impressed! They have completely upped their game! After getting my hair done a few doors down, I decided to pick up dinner so that I didn't have to cook in this heat. The Pad Kee Mao was fabulous! It's one of my favorite dishes and I can't believe that I've been searching and driving all over Portland to find a version of this very common dish that's better than I make, and it's right here on NE Broadway! The wide rice noodles are stir fried with onion, peppers, fresh basil and egg. A symphony of flavors plus some heat. After that, I had to come back and try some other dishes. They even have Pad Woon Sen, which not many Thai restaurants have in the menu. It's a stir fry noodle dish made with thin mung bean noodles along with carrots, green onions, cabbage, bell peppers and tomatoes. Another winner! The perfect balance and harmony of textures and flavors. The thin noodles are a refreshing change andthey are gluten free. Their Penang curry (with green beans and some heat) and Mussaman curry (with ground peanuts) are both fabulous. I'm so glad I decided to give Thai Pod another try. Definitely some of the best, most flavorful Thai food in Portland. Casual ambiance inside, bright colorful chairs and tables outside. Fun and festive vibe. Friendly service. Even though I don't live in Grant Park anymore, I'm over there most every day since I still go to the gym and run errands in this neighborhood. After 17 years, old habits hard to break! This is now on my weekly or biweekly rotation for when I don't feel like cooking and want a delicious and satisfying dinner. With leftovers for the next day!"
"I am always looking for that next Great place to eat. So when a friend asked me to meet her here for dinner, I was totally in.Upon entering... This place is really cute. There are parasol's hanging from the ceiling in all different colors. There's a TV screen that shows videos of people making art out of fruits and vegetables. Very clean and orderly. My understanding this is a family run business and I love that. We were provided nice new, clean menus they were laminated to start with and provided with waters. I ordered the pad Thai and the fresh shrimp rolls. The food came really fast. It was presented beautifully, and the peanut sauce with the shrimp rolls was perfect and not overly sweet. The pad Thai was garnished, beautifully and delicious with lots of fresh bean sprouts and chicken breast was used instead of chicken thigh. All in all, it was very close to perfect, and I will be coming here again! :-)"
"Food here was probably the best chinese I have had!5 star for food for sure but location and ambiance was meh. It's in a strip mall on 82nd in Happy Valley so if I hadn't read a review in Portland Monthly I would NEVER have known ot given this place a chance. I wanted to knock down a star for that, but I would rather have amazing food at a good price than a fancy location and be charged twice as much.Portions were huge and defintely family sharing friendly. We came here with friends and ordered a few different dishes and I highly encourage you to try things that you wouldn't normally order. As the name suggests, this is Sichuan style food and different than your regular chinese american over sauced cheap chinese. Somethings we ordered were standard because I have a child who wanted chow mein and I myself wanted to try the dry cooked string beans, which can be found at other places but this version was not overly saucy or greasy and def had a kick to them, so I was a fan.We had the Cumin Lamb and it did not taste gamey at all but was thinly sliced tender lamb seasoned with cumin and and chili seasoning that was spicy and full of flavor but not burning hot. It was so good and I highly recommend it!! My friend also ordered a kung pao chicken which is kinda a standard dish but she said it was the best she had ever had.My daughter also ordered the Golden egg yolk tofu, thinking it was firmer and was not happy with the texture as the egg sauce had a bit of graininess to it. HOWEVER, I had some for breakfast and it was so yummy, the silky tofu and egg was a wonderful substitute for eggs with toast this morning!I also love eggplant and had really wanted to try out the mashed eggplant with century egg and green pepper that I had read about but the menu had it listed as something weird like mashed pepper egg or something to that effect. I loved it and have never had anything like it at an asian restaurant. The flavor was really tasty and (beware) there are chunks of green century eggs in there that I really enjoyed but my friend was a lil scared of. Lol.They also seem to be popular for their fish soups and soups in general and if I could get everyone else to share with me I woulda tried it out, but I didn't want to order a $40 huge vat for me to try a cup. But maybe I can find a friend who is more adventurous to go with me!I almost forgot to take some photos so the one I did snap were of the food left after dinner and there was a lot! Such a great bargain for the quality and portion sizes. I can't wait to go back again!!"
"Not sure why my review was removed - so here it goes again. I stopped in one day after shopping at Trader Joe's. Nver even realiszed this Thai restaurant was here because it's tucked away in an alley that connects the front and back of this strip mall. They offer several lunch options at prices that are a dollar less than other hours. Whenever I check out a new Thai restaurant, I order Pad Kee Mao (drunken Noodles.) it's my favorite dish because I prefer wide rice noodles, and I like the kick from the spice. Their version as good, not great. Lots of crisp red and green peppers (next time I'll ask them to leave out the green one), broccoli (not the traditional Chinese broccoli) and onion were stir fried along with the protein. I chose chicken, and rather than large pieces of white meat, it was a combo of minced chicken and pieces. I'd prefer just the pieces. The service was friendly. Prices were typical. Interior feels dated but gets the job done."
"Jajang was great here. Ate with my cousin. It was amazingHowever 5 months later menu and servers changed and no more jajang and I looked like a crazy person for trying to order itDolsot bibimbop was great. So were the sides ( ban Chan). Bring back the jaja"
"I came here specifically because I saw that dipping noodles was on the menu. I haven't seen this anywhere since I was in Japan as part of an exchange program in high school, so I had to come!First off, this place is kind of unassuming, but what I've found is that unassuming places usually have the best food at the best prices. It's in a strip mall/shopping complex, with parking out front and a bunch of different restaurants in the complex. The restaurant is narrow, but really deep. You actually sit at booths that line the kitchen, and you can hear the chefs cooking.I'll admit, I was a bit nervous about the recipe that they were going to use for the dipping noodles. I've never heard of "bonito dashi" and had to look it up. (And yeah, I know that trip to Japan really served my Japanese skills well.) I'll admit I'm not a super big fan of seafood or fish, so I told the server if it was possible to avoid the bonito in my order. The server was beyond polite and accommodating, and after a quick conversation, we decided I'd probably like the broth from the black garlic tonkatsu. She went the extra mile and served the black garlic sauce on the side as a just in case. After a quick taste test, I dumped all that black garlic into my broth! And the noodles were unbelievable - it definitely wasn't the same dish that I had in Japan, where the noodles were served cold and with a tiny dish of dipping sauce. This was a full-sized bowl of noodles with a full-sized bowl of broth. You took noodles from one bowl, dipped them fully in the broth, and ate them. My friend got the Umami bowl. The chicken karaage in it looked delicious!Hands down, I will be coming here again when I'm next in the area!"
