"Unassuming pub-like spot with whimsical swinging chairs and a solid brunch. The Crawfish Cake Eggs Benedict ($17) was superb - perfectly poached eggs and crispy cakes. The hollandaise was light and flawless. The biscuits and beer bread were also all delightfully delicious.Polite staff :)"

"Came here a few months ago and liked the place but didn't LOVE it. Last time I said the pizza crust was too thick. I don't know if it is too thick or just not a "next level" amazing crust. Not sure if the dough is hand made and fresh. Toppings are really good though. I ordered The tiramisu for dessert and they make one of the best tiramisu's I have ever had! Staff here is impressive. Very friendly and proactive, which is nice to see. Pizza came out piping hot and right to my table. They waited to bring me the dessert and brought it over as I was eating my last pizza slice! I didn't have to ask or go to the counter, they kept an eye on me and brought it at the right time! Good food and a staff that has attention to detail! If only the could get that pizza crust right, they would have had 5 stars!!!"
"Still #1 for fried chicken in a town that does it well. And service has gotten much friendlier compared to years past."
"I really DO recommend the Tabor tavern!Literally down the street from an airbnb I frequent in PDX. The first time I was there, I passed by multiple times, observing locals enjoying their meals outside and inside, but never stopped in.This past trip, when hungry and looking for something easy, we walked right over and were seated immediately. We got there at 5:40, JUST missing their happy hour, which looks pretty excellent. On the other hand, I ordered the kale caesar and my husband got the burger and we both enjoyed our meals tremendously. Fresh ingredients and skilled execution coming out of the kitchen. The other thing I REALLY like about the Tabor Tavern, something I wish were true where I live on the East Coast is that this is a true neighborhood spot. On the East coast, an establishment may be described as a "neighborhood" spot in the vibe they are trying to grow with their customers. The Tabor Tavern is actually embedded in a neighborhood, with not much else around. The realness of that is appreciated!"
"A time honored place that feels fresh and contemporary but trusted and true. We were able to make a reservation online about an hour before we wanted to eat. As soon as we arrived we were greeted and seated. Service was excellent, noise level perfect, it was comfortable and approachable. Everything we ordered was delicious! We had:Cioppino - plentiful and flavorful. Slightly spicy. Monkfish - really delicious, perfectly prepared. Mussels - slightly indulgent with all those fries and chorizo. Gorgeous broth. Generous portion. Even got a complimentary scoop of ice cream for my mom's birthday. Very nice!"
"This would be a one star... but the two stars is for the folks at Clarklewis who tried to help us and spent time trying things to accommodate us but this was a truly horrible time for me and a friend who had never been here before. At least, in the end, her food was good. Over the last year I have been attending a lot of events with a friend new to Portland and she is a vegan. I saw a few things about Veganuary where a few spots in Portland were offering vegan items where their menu might not normally have these options. I would never normally take a vegan here and was so delighted that they had a prix menu 3 course meal offered for a great price. It sounded delicious. I made a reservation through Yelp. I am not a vegan but I love food and I do cook quite a few plant based options myself and I eat a lot of plant based food. The difference is that I am not restricted. We went to our event and were early for our reservation. The restaurant seems a bit darker since my last visit - I appreciate low lighting but this is very near pitch. We were given menus and that was when the awkwardness started. The waiter said he was being shadowed by another person and it was her first day. Totally fine...the weird was that the new person seemed way more to know things than the waiter did who immediately seemed to not be paying attention to us at all. My friend asked if they had a separate menu for the vegan options they had for January. He seemed confused and say yes but said he needed to go ask. He eventually came back, was extremely dismissive saying that was no longer available, started mumbling something and we were confused trying to explain that was GENUINELY the reason we were there. VERY long story short and after a lot of back and forth where he would leave, go somewhere and come back basically telling my friend a bunch of vegetables...we were not understanding because he was just saying they would make 'something'... so we just get charged something for something? Finally his, manager? came over saying similar but it was well, we make pasta but that has egg so we can give you the dried gluten free, add veggies... I honestly checked out just figuring I would order off the regular menu since a Caesar salad sounded good but the entrees... nothing was really jumping out so I just went with the chicken. I was delighted with my glass of Malbec which was great since I was mortified I had talked up this restaurant to my friend. We were told by multiple people that the executive chef took time off and apparently is the only person who could cook the vegan menu. Questions about other items were similar - there was a lot of talk about things being pre made which I found just weird since it was like the whole regular menu was almost described like a TV dinner yet the vegan 3 course was this complex thing that only the executive chef could make. All i know is that there were two things I found delicious - the Malbec and my Caesar which I am glad was filling. My friend ordered a drink described by the staff and the menu a sweet. She was confused and had me taste it... I sent it back for her because it literally tasted like vinegar. She was embarrassed thinking that they would feel like she was just nonstop complaints which is when I sent the drink back. The waiter took it and stormed off while the person ho just started was so kind, coming back saying the bartender wanted to try to make her a drink - he did and she loved it. Luckily she also very much enjoyed her whole meal. I did not want to spoil anything for her and I expected the waiter to make a comment at the fact that I barely touched my entrée. When you are planning to assault a dish with that much fennel, I would expect a heads up or I would not have bothered. I then thought I would correct it and was happy to order a simple orange sorbet. It was served as a soup, it was so melted. The tiny amount that was not melted had a very stringy and awkward texture. It has been a really long time since I have been given this bad of a meal. When I got the sorbet I seriously was laughing wondering if that was a joke. We were just exhausted seriously - my poor friend was having a anxiety attack an I was just glad that her meal was good since I am the one who has all the options normally... well, I will chose another option in the future to not come here. The true perfect ending was that I had parked near the door as I am ADA. Some lovely human in a white Tesla parked crooked over the line blocking my door to get in. The best part was that the spot next to them on their drivers side was empty!"
"Cozy neighborhood restaurants and bars are a dying breed. Higgins has remained a loyal and local spot for Portlanders for now what must be close to 30 years. A James Beard award winner as Best Chef Northwest, you will not find better nor more interesting dishes than my favorite restaurant in Portland. Exceptional food and service. Farm to table, everything is fresh. My go to here is always Halibut when it's on the menu. Add the garden salad with blue cheese crumbles and that takes care of a perfect evening. This particular dish tonight was spicy but delicious. A must try if you are in the downtown area."
"While I was visiting Portland, Interurban was a bar/restaurant I visited to get a late dinner after I arrived in the city. The place wasn't too crowded even though I came on a Friday night, and I was able to get a seat at the bar within 5 minutes or so (although there may be more of a wait for larger groups). The bartenders and servers were welcoming, and they were pretty friendly to chat with. I decided to try out the Smoked Trout BLT since that sounded pretty unique and also some of the PNW Oysters on the Half Shell. While the items are on the pricier side, I was pleasantly surprised by how well the Smoked Trout went with the rest of the sandwich. I typically haven't eaten smoked fish often, but the flavors in this were great and it was definitely a combination that I hadn't had before. The oysters were fresh and I also enjoyed them quite a bit, but the main star was definitely the BLT.If you want a quick bite to eat in Portland, Interurban is a good one to try out!"
"This is one of my favorite restaurants for delicious desserts! They make everything in-house and have been a Sellwood staple since 1978. I even purchased my wedding cake from them.We stopped in to grab a variety of desserts for a gathering we were having at our home. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They were having issues with their credit card machine but were very apologetic. We ended up ordering a piece of the lemon chiffon cake, German chocolate cake, raspberry gateau, lemon curd tart, and marionberry cheesecake. They were all absolutely delicious!I would highly recommend this establishment for desserts. They have a nice variety. You won't be disappointed!"
"Stopped here for lunch while in town visiting a friend. It had a sports bar vibe. Full nice big bar. There were tables and booths for families. I had my baby with me so that's where we sat. The bartender/ server maybe it was the owner I'm not sure but he was efficient, friendly and didn't bother us too much yet didn't neglect us.We got the candy salmon, French fries and mac & cheese. All the food was great, came in big portions and was very reasonably priced. I would definitely come back here when I'm back in town or if I lived around here."
"Wait time was none! And service so friendly. Great selection of food items that are not regular items like ground beef on a bread with salad and sunny side eggs on top. Delicious. Or the crispy pork belly on toast. Easily a spot to get back to. Service very friendly and fast. They make some special lemonades (like black current lemonade) as well. Yumm."

On our way back to our hotel, we decided to pick up some dinner so we wouldn't have to leave the hotel again. Based on yelp reviews, we decided to try Bistro 23. To be honest, when I found it, I judged this book by its cover. I probably would not have stopped if it hadn't been for the reviews. It looks more like a store front than it does a restaurant. Inside, there were some customers spread out in a large and spacious but somewhat sterile looking dining room. But she went inside to order, while I walked around with the dog outside. Pig in the Woods Pizza - 5 - Probably one of the best "Personal-size" pizzas I've ever had. The crust was tasty and not too thick. Ham was good, as were the mushrooms. The arugula on top was a bit wilted after a short drive. I'm not sure if that was intentional or not but it did not hurt the quality of the pie. Caesar Salad - 5 - She was very pleased with her salad. Dressing was on the side so the lettuce didn't get soggy.Grilled Cheese Sandwich and Tomato Basil Soup Combo - 5 - She ate 1/2 hot and the other half cold, the next morning. Tiramisu - 5 - Light and fluffy! The menu is small, but they do it quite well. We would not hesitate to return for another go!

Tabor Tavern is a hidden gem in Portland food culture. A great neighborhood eatery with some incredible options of appetizers and entree's.They also have a full bar with some tasty options for beer and cocktails. The staff is great. Very attentive, welcoming, and provide amazing service. Some of the best go-to's are burgers on the menu, the fish & chips, and more. Great place for a friendly lunch, spot to watch game, or simply enjoy a good meal. Will definitely be returning.

For our last meal in Oregon, Mrs and the youngest daughter wanted to eat at Cabezon due to good Yelp reviews. Oldest daughter and I decided to finish leftover from all our previous meals instead. We decided to get food to go so that we all could eat together at our hotel. Mrs ordered cioppino and the youngest daughter ordered pork chop. There was a decent amount of seafood in the cioppino and the broth was good. But over all, not as good as the California version. Also, Mrs only got three skinny one inch toasts for dipping, insufficient. The youngest daughter was disappointed with the mesquite grilled pork chop. She said the pork chop was tender but lacking in favor. The mesquite smoke taste was too faint. The corn cake and zucchini were good tasting. The one-piece pork chop dish at $32 was overpriced. She was still hungry after her meal. Oldest daughter and I were glad that we didn't order any food.

A friend and I had a reservation, but it wasn't necessary. There was a ton of seating available for an early dinner. Parking can be a bit of a pickle, so give yourself time, but no worse than your average downtown Portland parking difficulties with no dedicated lot/garage.Our server was an absolute doll. He gave us great recommendations and discussed allergy concerns very respectfully. Our drinks were well made; I enjoyed a classic, and my friend tried one of the custom cocktails; both were excellent. I appreciated that the menu was creative and took some risks. If you like to explore flavors, this is a great place to go. The menu changes seasonally, so I'm looking forward to returning in the fall. Portions are very small but beautifully plated. We didn't give ourselves long enough to enjoy dessert as we had to get to our next destination, but I can't wait to go back for a long, leisurely dinner and try the wine menu.

Best burger!About an inch thick beef patty, chargrilled crunchy outside, juicy mouthwatering delicious inside, grass fed beef, between two buns with onion, pickles, cheddar cheese and applewood bacon - you will need both hands to handle and big jaw stretch to tackle a bite. Bite by bite delish! Soup of the day spaghetti squash with some Mexican spicy pepper was amazing.I walked by the open kitchen and gave the chefs thumbs up! Higgins hits another home run. We've been eating here for 20 years - it is always a treat, convivial time and culinary delight. Servers know the menus and are "jolly ho-ho-ho" near Xmas and always ready to chit-chat at that. Casual dining room in the bar or with a twist of white linen on dining room tables.Always seasonal stuff coming on the menu - creative entrées, salads and desserts!

"Though the interior is a bit simple and very reminiscent of old diners, the staff were kind, the service was prompt, and the food was really tasty. I ended up ordering a chocolate milk and the Campfire Burrito which came loaded with all of the fixings and was topped with an absolutely delicious pasilla pepper crema. The burrito was of a good size (though I personally wish it was a bit larger) and was really tasty. I will say though the presentation was a bit weird. I was expecting to be able to pick it up and eat it but it had the crema on the outside of it so you had to eat it with a knife and fork which causes a lot of the ingredients to fall out making it a bit difficult to get a bite with everything in it. Not a deal breaker of course, but something to think about. Overall, a great breakfast was had here."
"Our first and only brunch was at The Slide Inn. It's a German spot run by a husband and wife combo. They have an extensive list of dishes that can be made gluten free.We dropped in on a surprisingly slow Saturday (around 12:30pm). There was only one other table that was dining in. The inside is funky with a fireplace (right at the front), an electic range of clock decor and a plethora of Keane paintings adorning the walls. Service was excellent and friendly. The breakfast menu consists of eggs, pfannkuchen and mehr, waffles, house made smoked sausages, burgers and pastas. Dishes are $10.00 USD to $18.00 USD. - Sausage scramble-house made turkey sausage, sautéed peppers with potato rosti and toast ($14.00 USD) - opted for the pumpernickel, which was nicely toasted, yet still soft. Everything on the dish was tasty. Turkey sausage was delicious and the potato rosti silky. Eggs were nicely done and had a good amount of red peppers mixed in.- Apfelschmarrn ($14.00 USD) - Austrian pancake (cut into small pieces) oven baked with an apple cinnamon compote. Smelled like apple pie. Warm, comforting and not too sweet.Cozy, comfort food at TSI."
"It's been a while since I visited this place. I liked that they have a great outdoor seating area that's covered. I had the French Dip and a side of fries. I enjoyed the beef from the sandwich, and the dip made the meat better. The fries were off good size to share with another person. Overall, it was a good place to go to, and i would go back for happy hour."
"Tasty lunch on 23rd in Portland with family that were in town visiting from the East Coast. This is a cute, cozy spot and we had never tried it before. We decided to take a chance, I'm not gonna lie I was a bit nervous because they do not have a huge menu but they do everything right! We ordered Mac n cheese, crab cakes and a pretzel with cheese & grainy mustard to share. I enjoyed the French dip sando and hubby ordered the pork belly sando. Both were freaking delish! Everyone was happy with what they ordered and we will definitely be back."
"We went to coquine's market to order a la carte and eat at which probably took away from a more legit dining experience. The food was pretty tasty but was shocked at the pricing which was comparable to SF food pricing. We got some bread and butter to start and was ok. The salad we got was really refreshing and dynamic as was the crawfish rice. Really unimpressed by the chicken--not super flavorful or juicy but at least it was a good texture. The fries that came with the chicken were quite soggy from being doused in sauce. Would not recommend. Overall, a decent hidden food spot in a suburban neighborhood with beautiful skyline views but I wouldn't go out of my way to come back if I'm visiting again."
"We love visiting Ranees as it is usually one of the only decent and consistent bites in Oregon city! Their French toast is to die for and we got the insider information that they get their apple bread from market of choice!Be aware that the weekends bring crowds and a wait. Make sure everyone in your party has a valid ID as they only allow adults, no minors! We sat in the bar, service was decent. They were slammed and had a wait to place our order, however our diet cokes never ran dry."
"What a view... not the one in the picture though... the one out the window!Had a business dinner here and I have to say the venue sits atop an outstanding location. You go up a pretty steep entrance and when you get to the parking lot you are rewarded with a view off a postcard! Pure beauty. The location it's self is nice... big, airy, and well maintained. We had 6 of us for dinner and we were seated in the upstairs loft area which had an over view of the bar and kitchen areas as well as the dinning area. The food was ok. Nothing really stood out as exceptional. There was a lot of it at high prices... and it was all flavored well, cooked well, and served well. Just in my opinion it did not live up to the location. It was not exceptional. This is one of those places that when you arrive you expect greatness! It did not live up to that... Would I come back? Yeah I would."
"This is such a great spot to come in, sit under the beautiful foliage and trees, all while having a nice cold beer and a stiff shot of liquor at one of the coolest neighborhood bars we could find in PDX. This is such a cool little spot that I could not get enough of and made sure to have enough cash to be able to keep the beers flowing and even partake in some of their tasty snacks and food they have on the menu at the bar. We ended up having a couple of great and filling hotdogs along with some good mac and cheese for some late night eats after exploring Portland during the day. All the nooks and crannies of spots to hang out in this bar is what charmed me to keep wanting to come back! Although parking can be difficult (street and neighborhood parking) it was all worth it when we walked in and we couldn't get our eyes off of the knick knacks and decor around the bar. Bartenders and server was super friendly and attentive. I love the whole idea of having cash only bar in the neighborhood. It allows me to keep a low profile of my late night eats and drinks from my debit/credit card account. HEHE!This spot is worth brining all of your friends, ordering some cool cocktails, and enjoying the Portland weather under some cool and unique and eclectic decor at one of the most unique bars I have ever seen."
"The church bar is always fun to be since you cannot miss their theme. Ok well I'll have to confess not on a Sunday since that karaoke night haha. But that's a totally different topic isn't it. I love the church as well for their food when you crave a small snack or an impossible burger. But also cause they always have some changing ice teas - so bring your sober friends have your beer or drink and then you can enjoy their alcohol free items. The barkeeper are always friendly and will find something you like. I had the upside down pineapple burger a special burger on the menu let's dive into a slice of pineapple fried in pancake batter, jalapeño's, pickles, cheddar Cheese, fried shoe string onions, bacon, beef patty with a raspberry chipotle BBQ Sauce on a toast brioche bun.Told you they are creative with drinks as with the burger Let's get this out of the way. Yes you can argue if pineapples belong on a pizza (yes they do) or not. But the church bar makes one thing clear there is no question a pineapple belongs on a juicy burger. This one has a spicy kick to it from the sweet raspberry chili jam the slice of the exotic fruit is making the whole burger a juicy experience and the crispy onions are giving extra crisps for texture and tastes. All in all a burger to enjoy. So perfectly made to bad it's only a special bit a very delicious one."
"Have been to Jo Bar many times, typically for Happy Hour. They have discounted cocktails with fun names and inventive twists. The HH red or white wine for $8 is always a safe bet. HH snacks are varied. Burrata & crostini, wedge salad, hamburger sliders, pork tacos, Cubano sliders, to name a few. Prices $8-9. Get a few to share. The tacos have a delicious avocado cream sauce, but the teeny, tiny chunks or pork were few; all you can taste is the avocado and onions. Add more pork! The wedge salad was tasty but needed more dressing.Servers are friendly and check in frequently. Lots of seats at the bar and a mix of high tops and regular tables. Seating outside on sidewalk for those who prefer people watching. Many nights they have music starting at 7ish."
"I had to come back and get the grilled cheese sandwich here. It's nice to know that the kitchen is being run by The Grilled Cheese Grill. I had the After School Snack - a grilled cheese sandwich with a cup of tomato soup. This was the perfect snack for me to accompany my beverage. The food is just as great as I remembered it."
"Took way way too long to try this spot but so glad we finally did!!! Don't believe the hype....!!! This spot exceeds all expectations and probably one of my top 5 chicken spots here in Oregon!! Clean perfect portioned, sized and prepared with a healthy amount of seasoning finished off on there open wood fire grill!! Served with an out standing variety of great sauces to choose from but seriously not even necessary but great options!! All sides sounded great but we went with the Cornbread....Highly recommended and definitely ask for extra butter!! Grill cabbage was ridunkulously good! Grilled prawns were good but sauce was highlight of dish for me? Pleasantly surprised how many none chicken items on menu but most definitely recommend the pork chop!!! Perfect cook inside and great char on outside!! Grilled Radicchio was a perfect matched side and really made the plating look amazing!! Only my first time so definitely will be back to try everything we missed and highly recommend y'all to try too!! Pease go check this spot out and support a local chef and owner who really pours his passion and love into his food!! Ambiance, vibes staff are all great too!! Nice selection of cocktails and wine!!!"
"I am a huge fan of the kimchee mac, I think it's the best dish on the menu. It's unbelievably flavorful. The place has very good vibes and people, and we love it every time we go."
"Solid somewhat unassuming breakfast/brunch spot that I randomly dropped by with a friend to try! This place is great for a mix of meat and vegetarian options and had a handful of vegan options sprinkled in as well.We went on a random weekday around brunch so didn't need to contend with a crowd, woohoo! Also upside is that they have a little parking lot for their business so that was a great perk. It is a lil petite though so probably fills up during busier hours. We were both feeling pretty savory so my friend got The Nest (potato cake topped with all the goods) and I went with the Cowboy Dan (corn chips topped with soyrizo instead of chicken -- aka I had nachos for lunch but it was delicious. We also split a soyrizo breakfast dumpling. Food wise everything was good minus the dumpling which I honestly did not enjoy too much? Something about the taste was just a taaad bit off so I wasn't the biggest fan. We both enjoyed our food and were curious about drinks but opted to grab some other treats after so skipped those. Overall, the interior is quirky, service was friendly, and the food was solid. Swing by if you're having a hankering for breakfast/brunch goods and have a mixed group of dietary needs."
"Updating as a lot has changed here in the last few years. They're in a new larger spot now which is a nice place, and more comfortable size. Prices have increased like everywhere else but we felt the increase more steeply here and it was more noticeable due to what we ordered. In the past, we got fish entrees that came with sides or pasta that was full of multiple ingredients so it felt like a complete meal. This time we got beef Wellington and lobster bouillabaisse- I didn't realize that for the price neither came with a side. Strangely, there are no sides listed on the menu at all so it seems those entrees are intended to be eaten alone. I'd suggest ordering one of the appetizer salads as a side or to start. The special drinks and desserts are not on printed menus and we didn't see prices listed anywhere- for reference, cocktail specials were $14-$16 and our cake dessert was $16."
"It is a cool place that has both backyard patio and seating in front outside seating options. The interior is spacious, and they have added some more games inside since I last came here. The burger here is ok, but their spirits selection is excellent. The bartender is also super nice and helpful."
"Ordered:-Buffalo Cauliflower-Onion Rings-Buffalo Wings with Marionberry sauce-Gochu Peno BurgerPro:-Onion rings were flaky and crisp!-Buffalo cauliflower was the group's favorite & the buffalo sauce was a good balance of tangy and spicy.-The wings had a slight amount of batter on them which made them crunchy to eat. The Marionberry sauce was sweet and good! We'd like to try the spicier sauces next time.-Employees were really friendly and there are happy hour prices starting when they open at 2pm!Con:-The cauliflower would be easier to eat if it were cut into bite sized portions! -Burger was great with grilled veggies in it, but would have been enhanced with fresh vegetables as well! We found it a bit greasy and heavy otherwise."
"I've been wanting to try Greeley for a while now because there's always a crowd of cars and people whenever I passed by. Little did I know they actually do weekly trivia on Wednesdays so what a great reason to finally check them out. Trivia here is SO FUN and is run by a great host. Definitely come by on Wednesdays to enjoy a night of fun. It wasn't too busy during the night so they were able to come to our table to grab out order. They did mention when it's busier though you will need to order at the bar. I just have to say that they fry their items to perfection! The french fries, onion rings, and tots - YUM! The burgers here are solid entrees too and were quite large so I was able to share one with the portion size of the sides. Overall, awesome local dive bar. They have parking but it fills up quickly but luckily there's free parking around."
