Jando S. "I'm all for a gimmick and as someone who has indulged often in the Bay Area style super burritos, I couldn't pass up the chance to enjoy something in the same realm as King Burrito. This place is exactly what I'm looking for in a no pretense eatery, fair prices, good service, and hearty, tasty food. Portland local dives don't get much better than this.Located in North Portland just outside of Arbor Lodge Park, King Burrito is a small eatery with handful of tables and chairs with the classic open kitchen with the above-counter wall menu (#1). A majority of the folks coming through are coming for takeout and unless it's bad timing, I've never really seen this place full. The fluorescent lighting and semi-shoddy bathrooms aren't major reasons to dine-in but the food most certainly is.As of right now, all burritos are in the $8-9 range. The famed king burrito is really a chile relleno with refried beans, steak picado in their in-house avocado sauce in an oversized flour tortilla. The carne asada and carnitas have been my go-tos but I think their cabeza (head) and lengua is an outstanding option. Their breakfast burritos should be considered, especially the chorizo con papas and the machaca. Every burrito is going to be littered with onions, so for folks who aren't all about the cebolla life, be sure to mention it ahead of time. Overall, the burrito is an absolute gut bomb and will trigger an immediate food coma post consumption.Anything in a burrito can also be done in taco form. Most of the tacos are in the $3-4 range at this point but similarly to the burritos, quite sizable and served with good portions. They also have non-taco options, such as hot dogs, burgers, taquitos, and quesadillas. The latter is the only thing I'd order, but to each his or her own.The service is quick and the staff is mainly Spanish speaking. There is usually a young man who is handling food orders in the front and on the phone. A majority of their parking is in the back and they're no longer open past 11pm on any day of the week.Lastly to management: I realize prices are fluctuating everywhere, but none of the prices from the outdated website (#2) or the counter menus (slightly outdated) match the wall menu prices (current). This will cause some confusion for new customers and maybe disappointment for many others. __________(#1) A common theme amongst many ethnic takeout eateries.(#2) Beware of their severely outdated website menu prices, which are at $5.50 a burrito and $1.50 a taco."

Jonathan S. "Fantastic anytime!Robo Taco is a staple in Portland for any late-night group of friends or midday lunch dates. The dive-bar-like interior is welcoming and curated, and it features large booths with cute bar seating. The restrooms are individual and quite clean and spacious. I really love it when bars like this one leave the user-added graffiti and messages up--such a vibe!Service is fast-casual, meaning you'll order with the main server at the bar and then take a number to whichever table you choose. In July, the team is participating in Slushie Month, so be sure to stop by and enjoy your favorite alcohol-based slushie. We added rum to ours. The menu is not too broad, so if you have challenges with large menus (as I do), you'll enjoy the selection here. The standout dish of our night was the cow tongue taco, a soft, flavorful, and unique creation that truly impressed us. It's not often you find a place in Portland that can pull off this classic dish with such finesse. We chose to sit outside on the spacious streetside patio. The tables are sturdy and covered, and the unique chairs added to the late night vibe. While it would be nice if the streetscape had more greenery, this is feedback for PBOT. The good news is, cycling lanes and bike sharing are close by, making it easy to enjoy the great food and good summer weather without the need to drive."

They have a full, separate vegan menu with tons to choose from. We ordered the vegan soyrizo enchiladas($12) to share one afternoon, which was ready in about 10-15 mins. You get a generous portion of enchiladas, with nicely spiced soyrizo, with sides of vegan sour cream, rice, refried beans, and a lame iceberg salad with a tomato on top. Usual street parking in one of the many Portland neighborhoods maybe 4 or 5 miles from the airport. Lots of Spanish speakers coming in for food which is very encouraging. I asked them for a bean and cheese burrito and two chicken burritos but they ended up handing me a bean and cheese burrito and two chicken tacos. My BF enjoyed them, but it would have been nice to try something new. The bean and cheese was excellent for only $6.75. It had a nice spicy kick to it to liven up the lack of ingredients. I will return just for that, but there's tons on the menu to push that visit to, say, today. Lol."

Nancy H. "What a great little place!Right on the edge of Chinatown, just a step beyond the Chinese gateway, lies the Hoxton Hotel. The area outside is a bit "sketch", as they say (similar to our Chinatown here in Vancouver, BC, sadly), but this hotel seems super cute, and the lobby is really cute. On the rooftop of this hotel is the Tope restaurant, and my kid and I dined here the evening of Cinco de Mayo (which was so fitting, as this is restaurant serves Mexican cuisine, in smaller plates, like a tapas style). I was really impressed by the outdoor patio and the view of the city. This patio is large and would be phenomenal to dine here on a summer evening! Lots of string lights and comfy seats, and a view that's fabulous! The interior of the restaurant is also pretty cool, with a large, square, central table with a fire pit in the middle (my kid and I sat at this table), as well as a casual counter along the wall along the whole restaurant perimeter, so you can sit and see the city skyline wherever you sit. There's a full bar and they serve amazing artisan cocktails. I forget what I ordered but it was beautiful and pink and delicious. My kid loved her cocktail as well. And the food! SO SO good. I was a little worried as I can't tolerate hot or spicy foods, but everything we had was so flavorful without being spicy. We ordered the ceviche with shrimp (our favorite dish! SO good), a chicken dish (I forget what it was, but it was delicious), the charred peppers (very tasty. My kid loved them and had had them before on a prior visit here), and our delicious cocktails. The plates were perfect for sharing and, if we hadn't been planning to go out for dessert afterwards, we probably would have ordered another dish or two. But our three dishes were the perfect amount for a light dinner, and we thoroughly enjoyed them. Our server was very helpful in advising us about the drinks and the dishes, knowing I can't do spiciness. And she was attentive and friendly, too. Bonus!Great spot for a lovely dinner! Oh, and it's just a block from Voodoo Donuts, too (FYI!)."

The taste and feel is "authentic": not-mainstream like Chipotle, not a #2 taco platter with amigo chips like something you'd find in Beaverton, and not up and coming chef, bus your own dishes Portland fusion. The torta bread comes from Woodburn, an area known for incredible Mexican food. Maybe from a Mexican bakery, the taste is difficult to replicate. An excellent sandwich, but somewhat difficult to eat clean. I opted for the veggie, I'm sure one of the meats provides even more flavor. The breakfast taco for $2.95 is ample and delicious.A SUGGESTION for the owner: the nice lady asked us about six questions when we ordered the taco: pinto or refried beans, mild, medium, or hot sauce, do you want lettuce, etc. Just sell it in the way you think it tastes best and the customer can opt out of certain ingredients. When she was about to go through the list of questions again for the torta I just said "the same as the taco." Fewer questions will reduce the wait time in line.I consider this place a little gem with decent parking and good outside (but no inside) seating."

They have a nice set up with several of the food items on display where you order and pay. and a separate covered and heated outdoor space if you want to eat there. the tacos are $4.50 which is pricy and typically what a restaurant would charge, not a food truck. That being said, their corn tortillas are larger and you would probably need just two, not three. I decided to get just one taco and a Chile rellenos ($6.) That was a smart move! The Chile rellenos was puffed and a bit crisp on the outside with lots of melted cheese inside and the sauce it came with was rich and flavorful. The carnitas tacos were topped the way I like, with chopped onion and cilantro, a wedge of lime. They also put salsas right on the taco, and it was very good., I've had them at farmers markets and New Season. You can buy containers of their carnitas for $11.99 a pound and buy their homemade corn tortillas, 5 for $1 and then make carnitas tacos at home. I'm going this route next time!"
