"Sushi is my love language and I will climb mountains to get it ..but too bad that's too far from where the fishes are . Well good for me that Yama however is located very conveniently in pearl and hence its an easy drive . We came in around 8 ish and were seated immediately. The Yelp page says they close at 10 but on weekdays its 9 so be aware of that .However for weekend I did see people come in as late as 9:30 pm .We ordered right away and got - LovejoyYama RollFlaming jack Flying fish roe and Hamachi Nigiri The food was delicious and arrived quickly . Apart from the Flaming Jack everything was bang on . We also got sake that our server recommended . Service is good and friendly and prices at par with other sushi places."

"Came here for lunch this past weekend. They were having a lunch happy hour which was 20% off rolls. Their prices are pretty steep so it ended up being the cost of normal sushi. Ordered the 1012 and the salmon tataki rolls along with an order of toro nigiri. Both the rolls were OK, one of them had a mustard like sauce that wasn't described on the menu, it was all over the roll and I think it took away from the flavors. For the price I thought there would be a decent amount of fish on each roll but the piece barley covered the top, didn't fold over the sides and was very thin. The toro was good, $18 for 2 pieces of nigiri which was a lot but I get that it's a sought after fish.. the presentation was great but unfortunately the fish we were served was borderline frozen. I felt the ice crunching in my mouth, the flavor was good once it warmed up but it was a letdown that it was icy."
"Sho turned out to be a delightful place to meet up with a friend for a refined, delightful lunch. I had the chicken katsu bento box, which was everything I hoped for, plus it came with something I've never run into before - a light potato salad that I really enjoyed.Access to the parking lot can be a bit tricky, depending on traffic. Fortunately, you can get into the lot on either the east or west side of the building - the west entrance is farther from the intersection, so there's less likelihood of being blocked by eastbound traffic waiting for the light. The other access issue that I encountered was that the restaurant's web site is blocked by my security software. Not sure why, but checking the menu before my visit was a challenge. The atmosphere at Sho was also just what I wanted - quiet and calming. I find that this really adds to my enjoyment of a meal."
"This was my first time experiencing a sushi conveyor belt. It was actually kind of fun and a scary quick way to pound a lot of food in a short period of time. Small portions of food and small color-coded plates move continuously on a thin conveyor belt. You grab what you want, when you want, and they add up all the plates at the end of your meal. Different color plates are valued differently from $1 or so up to about $4. You can still order more hot dishes to be served on request saving hot food from getting cold on the conveyor. The main thing to understand is the quality. It was decent...certainly nothing high quality. This is more of a slap on the feed bag place than quality sushi experience. Tables were left dirty leaving folks hanging out in the lobby looking famished. Beer and wine are served, the place is not gross and it's a cheap sushi meal. Meh...."
"Love their bento box combinations, and is my go-to bento box resto on this side of town. There's plenty to choose from and don't do what I did and order another side of sushi, it was too much food for me to finish, but hey I took the extras to work the next day. I got the salmon teriyaki and the sashimi, and everything was on point, and delicious. A bento box for dinner, and it only being $17, is a screaming deal, in my opinion. I ordered mine to go, sat down outside a few doors down at the Craft Pour House, and enjoyed my bento and a cold pint in the shade on a warm sunny day."
"This sushi spot is a real hidden gem! The quality of the sushi is amazing, with fresh, pieces that are simply so good. One of the highlights is that you can order by the piece, allowing you to try a variety of flavors without overcommitting. The handrolls are also great. While the calamari appetizer is on the smaller side, it's absolutely to die for it's crispy, tender, and flavorful. Overall, this place offers exceptional sushi that's well worth a visit."

Yama Sushi was really happening when we walked in on a Friday evening. We were lucky to get seated relatively quickly. We decided to order some uni nigiri, the wagyu with foie gras, the Kumamoto oysters, spider roll, California roll, Oregon roll, salmon avocado roll, and salmon scallop roll. The uni was fresh and sweet and was definitely a winner. The oysters were good also, but the dressing overpowered the oysters' natural sweetness. All the rolls were tasty and had a good ratio of rice to filling. Unfortunately the wagyu and foie gras nigiri was underwhelming. The beef put up a bit of a fight which i did not expect from wagyu. The most disappointing part was how the foie gras got lost in the flavor of the beef. I ended up eating the foie gras separately just so I can savor it.

Boo for terrible service on a takeout order. Pretty hard to mess up a takeout order for five people, right? Not for Sushi Mo. I arrived on time to pick up my prepaid order. The woman at the hostess stand asked me to wait. And then she ignored me for 5 minutes. Her head was bent down, looking over the menu, striking out orders with a grease pen. Weird.Another worker approached me to see what I needed. I told him. He brought the packages to me immediately. When I asked him about the weird wait and silent non-service, he told me she was busy but communicated to him with her eyes to help me.I won't be back. I can't stand passive aggressive behavior and awful service.

After being closed for the beginning of 2024 due to storm damage that led to a renovation, Sho is open again and while the restaurant looks refreshed and somewhat brighter, the food remains consistent and in a very good way! We enjoyed karaage, tan tan ramen, and the chef's choice of sushi. The sushi was so fresh and because they were full, we sat at the sushi bar. So happy we did! We conversed with the younger sushi chef who hailed from Hawaii like we did. He was very friendly and very skilled. All in all, the dinner was both entertaining and delicious! Oh, try the fruit parfait. It's new and surprisingly very good! Not too sweet and full of surprises! (Of note, the food and conversation was so good, I forgot to take photos)

"I have never been to a restaurant where I have wanted to order everything again. Here's our list: Hamachi crispy rice, Kobe beef negimaki, spicy garlic edamame, gyoza, chicken karaage, albacore & crispy onion, red eye and ninja rollEvery single thing was the best of that thing I have ever eaten. I could eat the hamachi crispy rice every day. The albacore & crispy onion was beyond. I don't think anything could go wrong on this menu."
"Fish & Rice is a quaint neighborhood sushi joint with fresh fish daily and specials highlighting said fish. They frequently feature decadent poke bowls that are truly a work of art. While they may not be the most affordable sushi in town, their quality is phenomenal. They have a few tables for indoor dining and sometimes outdoor seating if the weather allows. It is counter service with self-serve water and utensils, but the waiter was kind and friendly. When we went, he was bussing, delivering, and taking orders. We got the neskowin roll, toro roll, and salmon poke bowl. The fish was so fresh!! It just melted in my mouth, and you can taste the quality. Presentation was beautiful, and you can tell they treat sushi as art. Their dishes allow the fish to speak for itself; nothing is drenched in sauce or extra frills. Cozy and homey, Fish & Rice is a gem in NW Portland. Forgo the other chain sushi joints in Portland, and bid them a visit!"
"I frequent Ruby Spa at Edgefield, the next exit down I-84, so I initially came to Meeka out of convenience. However, I've returned time and time again because it's such a lovely experience and I'm always made to feel like family. It starts with a friendly "Irasshaimase," and continues with superb customer service and genuine interest in my well-being. I'm never disappointed with my dinner at Meeka. Most meals begin with their outstanding miso soup and their signature salad. Crisp Iceburg lettuce with slivered carrots, garnished by their show-stopping salad dressing. It's probably a simple mayo-based dressing with spices, but it's absolutely delicious and a refreshing way to start the meal. My favorite dishes at Meeka include:Spicy Scallop Hand Rolls: They are robust and filled with succulent scallops, a slice of avocado, and topped with ikura. YUMM! Honestly, I come here for this dish a miso alone sometimes and leave completely satisfied. Shrimp Tempura: I don't know how they do it, but their shrimp tempura are the best I've ever had. Crispy, juicy, and so big they are practically a meal by themselves. If you love tempura, definitely try the offerings at Meeka!I'm impressed with the kitchen's ability to pace dishes such that I never have everything arrive at once, or find myself waiting impatiently for the next course. The wait staff are very communicative and efficient. This may be a strip mall Japanese restaurant, but the impeccable service makes it feel like a high end establishment. I always leave feeling very appreciative."
"Quick place to grab some sushi and other dishes. The host is friendly and will sit you down quick. You can choose items from the conveyor belt or order some special items. I ordered the chicken hibachi and my friends picked some items out from the belt."
"Hit and miss. First, the Korean (?) Sushi chef with arm tats was very personable, very friendly. Conversely, a Caucasian 20-something employee needs to attend a customer service workshop. When clearing plates he kept demanding, "move your chopsticks", in a command-like tone.Good place for specials and uncommon menu items. Enjoyed the Lobster Karaage, albeit very pricy. Likewise, the Roasted Shishitou Peppers were wonderful. And something as simple as miso soup is a cut above here.Unfortunately, we did not care for the four different sushi dishes ordered. The "brown-white rice was the consensus negative. The California Roll (don't judge, I like it even as a sushi enthusiast) was one of my least favorite of all the elevated sushi houses in Portland. I suppose the Green Godzilla 2.0 rolls were the best of the bunch.Good ambiance. But it's one and one for us."
"I did take outs but recently I dined in for the first in awhile. We were one of the first to get seats but the ordering still took forever. With two servers who are also a little older plus maybe fewer people making food, our meal took 2 hours and we had to reach out to them and stop them in the middle of serving. I'm sorry we did that but the line was also incredibly long so we felt bad for waiting or staying longer. Aside from that, let's talk about the food!I got the tonkatsu lunch bento for $13. First of all, the price was very reasonable, other Japanese restaurants in the area would have the price start at $16 or so. Their fried things were very good in the past and they still ARE! Flaky, light, no oily feeling, it was fried wonderfully. The tempura shrimp did shrink a good amount but the shrimp and the veggies were fried wonderfully, too. The rice was lovely too, there is a difference! It also came with salad and miso soup and four california rolls and a little vinegar cucumber salad. We then ordered amae ebi (甘えエビ)sweet shrimp. They fry the head so it was very crunchy but sadly it was cold. The ebi was so sweet, juicy, and light. I loved it. If it wasn't almost $7, I would've ordered more servings haha. Anyways, I loved the meal though service was slow and because it was overwhelming for them, the service was not always nice."
"Good little Ramen house with a sushi menu. My wife liked the pho, I liked the sushi. The service was quick and friendly, the ambience was good, clean and well-maintained. Prices are typical for the area."
"This biz has apparently been around a long time! They've been open since 1985, I think. I've driven by many times and finally got the chance to stop in. There is a small parking lot out front, shared with the other business in this tiny strip mall which include a weed store and a bar so it's often busy. There's a gravel lot to the side for overflow. Inside Takahashi, there is much more seating than you expect, as they have a back area. As a solo diner, I was seated at the bar which was not ideal. I didn't have a great view of the chefs making the food. There was also a fan running behind me (to prevent the neighboring weed store's smell from infiltrating, somewhat unsuccessfully). Orders can be placed by sharpie on a laminated menu, which I love. Staff was friendly and kept an eye on my water.Portion sizes per price were generous - I got a lot of sushi! I don't know if it was the highest quality sushi I've had but it was tasty and filling. I'd come back, especially as it looks like they do some promos and specials at different hours on various nights of the week."
"I thoroughly enjoyed dining at this all vegan spot. They call themselves Japanese comfort food and I can agree. Especially on a chill, rainy day this warm food was all kinds of comforting. To start we ordered the Curried korokke which were crispy and bursting with flavors. I hadn't had anything like this before and I enjoyed the taste. I tasted some of the kenchinjiru which is like a vegetable stew. Again bursting with flavors and very comforting. For my entree I ordered the Tempura udon and it did not disappoint. They make their noodles in house and that was just a selling point. Again a very comforting dish when it's rainy. Service was good and very attentive. This place is very inclusive and had a nice, comforts vibe. When I ever visit PDX again I will return."
"Happy hour for this place is amazing! Huge menu with a variety of rolls, apps, all with huge portions. Definitely will be back for happy hour since it was such a great deal and so tasty!"
"Banya was on my "to try" list and was more or less in the area since I was in western Portland metro area. Sushi sounded good so I headed on over. The menu for different sushi rolls is fairly large so it took me a little bit of time to figure out what I wanted. I got ones that were favorites as it turned out and I was not disappointed at all. I got an Avocado Roll, a Spicy Tuna Roll and the California Crunch Roll. The sushi was fresh and memorable! I will definitely keep this place in mind for future reference. Prices are fairly reasonable also."
"Wow! Totally worth the drive from Beaverton... not easy during rush hour, but we made it. For the premium rolls it was $17-$19 for rolls but with large portions. Great flavor and fresh! We loved the Oh my God roll (tempura shrimp with spicy tuna and spicy crab and salmon) it has unagi (eel), too which may not be for everyone. Loved the super crunch roll with shrimp, avocado, cream cheese and crunchy sweet potato. Tried the sushi and sashimi platter served on a boat and had delicious fresh variety of salmon, tuna, shrimp, ect...Got the lion but didn't care for it. It was some sort of hot salmon roll. Overall, large portions, quality hand-made sushi and kind staff!"
"Sushi Hurray is great for what it is--fast, INEXPENSIVE, eat at the counter sushi on a conveyor belt. While the quality level isn't as high as the higher end or traditional sushi restaurants, this convenient place is worth a visit if you want sushi to-go or just a quick bite by yourself. Take a look at their menu to get an idea of the options. Overall, great value sushi."
"Party of three on a Saturday evening. No wait but it did start getting crowded towards the end of our dinner. Did AYCE sushi and you get what you pay for...but I mean that in a good way! Enough of a variety for AYCE sushi and they weren't stingy and service was pretty good. I did not feel like they were trying to rush us at all and were sometimes even joking about how little we ordered a time.In general, I try to avoid conveyor belt sushi when it is slow which was the case here. Overall I would be back for my quick sushi fix."
"WHEN: Fri @10:30amWhat a lovely restaurant! I can sit here all day. You order at the counter first, and when you sit down, they will bring your order out when it's ready. Here's what I had:CLASSIC KATSU SANDO - PORK - $13Pork Loin Katsu, Cabbage, Kewpie Mayo, Tanaka Katsu Sauce, Milk Bread.Since it's freshly made, it's pretty hot, and crispy. The bread is toasted, so it's hard to tell that it's milk bread. I would prefer soft in-toasted bread since you already have the crispy texture from the katsu. So I know the insides of my mouth will be very scraped up, haha. The sauce is good, with a bit of tangy. I wish there was more kewpie mayo because it tasted like there was none. Overall, decent sandwich.I rec sharing this sandwich since it's quite filling. The Pork Katsu is really thick.Oh and they have really nice merch. I considered buying their shirt ($25) and hoodie ($40)."
"Tada Sushi is a great addition to the Lake Oswego area! The owners were friendly and our server was outgoing and responsive to us. The ambiance is lively so it gave off the vibes of a great spot for celebrations or special occasions. We ordered quite a few items but the highlights were the Spicy Tuna Rice Cake, Hamachi Carpaccio, and Sashimi Platter Premium. All the fish was so fresh and great quality. I really liked the wasabi sauce that accompanied the sashimi platter, it elevated the flavors of the fish. Highly recommend for a delicious night out!"
"You can definitely become overwhelmed by this menu, they have everything from teriyaki to pad Thai to udon. Thankfully they have a ton of photos plastered all over the place so you can see what your food will look like. They used to offer egg drop soup complimentary for those who dined in but they've done away with that. The chicken yakisoba was a huge plate of with a side of rice. I enjoyed it a bit better once I added some hot sauce. General Tao and chicken teriyaki was also very good. Serviced with rice and a side salad. The service was really fast, but the place wasn't very busy when we were there for lunch."
"This is a pretty decent teriyaki place. It is conveniently located in the same plaza as Hmart! I came on a Monday morning for lunch and the restaurant was pretty empty. The food was decent. The woman who was our server and cashier was so friendly!"
"It's arguably the grungiest sushi spot in PDX. The locale is not ideal with trash dumpsters right next to the few picnic tables for outdoor seating. The neighboring grocery store attracts passerbys that are uncomfortable. Indoor is cramped and really cramped. Decor is a sort of mess mixed with supplies lacking storage. The kitchen is inches away and clamouring is the background music. Service ~ probably what they could afford is a single young person hustling all the tables. Dressed like a teen but serves like a pro. The mannerisms is high polite Japanese level. One of the few spots where tips are well deserved. They always say thank you as you leave.Sushi simple ~ fresh & thick cuts. No fancy sauces. Touch of mayo. And most importantly, perfect rice texture.Japanese street style, great price point, family owned authentic.Repeat customers."
