"One of our favorite Indian restaurants in PDX. Eclectic decor. Tasty food prepared with care.Portions are generous. I recommend Bollywood Theater's Thali plates for the full dining experience.Service was fast, friendly and efficient!"
"How I heard of this place: We were visiting local friends just up the road and requested their recommendation for a place for dinner.Type of cuisine: Simple and very Americanized Indian food (slightly lacklustre in flavor, and muted spice-levels to match the weaker American standards).Ambiance: Soft and warm, with decor to match the food - random artwork of the Eiffel Tower, Marilyn Monroe set amid colorful fabrics and matching table-chair sets. What I ordered: We started with the Lollipop Chicken ($12) - chicken drummettes marinated in spices and deep fried. Following, was an order for Yogurt ($3), Garlic Naan ($5) -bread baked in the tandoor & topped with fresh garlic & cilantro as sides to accompany our Vegetable Korma ($17) - a medley of fresh vegetables simmered in a creamy northern korma, and Butter Chicken ($18) - boneless white Meat chicken cooked in tomato creamy sauce. We washed it all down with Mango Lassis ($5 each) - traditional Indian drink made with homemade yogurt, milk and rosewater and flavored with mango. What I loved: The Mango Lassi. Why I loved it: Simple food that was warm and comforting. The kids loved the lack of spice, so it helped make it a family friendly choice. Cost: Average ($15-$22 per meal)"

"A total delight! We have a friend who avoids meat, so Indian restaurants have become the most reliable places for everyone to be happy. Maruti's atmosphere and service topped off the experience, making for a delightful lunch. The Tikka Masala with paneer was every bit as good as I had been led to believe. Naan, Daal Tadka and a Biryani rounded out our family style feast.Iced Chais and a Mango Lassi made excellent accompaniments to the food.Maruti is located on a stretch of Hawthorne where street parking is easier than it is in the 30's, yet another reason to look forward to returning here."
"I ordered from Namaste over UberEats and it was delicious! Before I start though, I have read some other reviews that they *might* have different quality between ordering the food delivered versus when you go in person. So, in my experience of getting it delivered, it was delicious.Over the app, Namaste offers so many deals and discounts. My partner and I ordered and were able to get practically 6 entrees for the price of 3 (lots of BOGO) and a couple free appetizers! The portions were generous and everything looked so good. We got the chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, paneer naan, chicken biryani, mango chicken, and some samosas (lots of food, but they just had so many deals haha). Everything came piping hot and was delicious. It may not be the best Indian food in Portland, but I don't think you can get a better deal for some good Indian food than here!"
"After having lived in Portland for such a long time, I'm just amazed how I have never visited this place or maybe I do know --because it's not as authentic as I prefer my Indian food to be. The restaurant is located at a very good location and many years ago even used to be one of the popular Indian restaurants in the city, I believe that's not the case anymore. We made reservations 30 minutes before we arrived, but the place was almost 70% occupied and the bar area was totally empty but the staff had made it seem like the place was overflowing with people and pushed us really hard to reserve stating that they are jampacked that evening . Its worse since they were closing soon as well and they failed to mention that when we were reserving . The establishment is huge, but the decor is very dated. It feels like you're suddenly 20 years back in time with the dull walls and old school restaurant music. We were seated at one of those bigger nice booths and the seating was comfortable. Our drinks and appetizers arrived quickly, but we were informed that the restaurant closes at 10 PM, leaving us with less time to enjoy our meal. The food was a mix of highs and lows: the Malai Tikka was delicious, but the potato curry was below mediocre. The portions were generous, and most items on the menu are shareable, which is a plus for trying different dishes. The staff was alright, but I didn't personally like the fact that they kept pushing us to order soon. I believe they could have let us know when we made a reservation that they were closing early and there wouldn't be enough time to sit and eat properly. This would have made us either arrive sooner or we would have probably chosen a different place especially since we were meeting friends and would have preferred to spend some more time . Parking is hard specially with the downtown situation and break-ins . I didn't particularly feel safe parking my car nearby but had very less choices."
"The Paneer Tikka Masala is FIRE. Reminds me of how it is in India, very authentic and the paneer itself is big and has a smokey flavor to it which completes the gravy really wellThe Saag paneer is not bad but it didn't stand out like the Tikka Masala. Both dishes were ordered Medium and it matched the spice well. The Saag could've been spicier The Gobi Manchurian was also really good, with the perfect level of spice and flavor. The Paneer Pakoras was too breaded and had a very small amount of paneer in them, also was more bland compared to the other options so definitely worth skipping We did takeout and even the next day the paneer tikka masala leftover was as good as it was when we ordered it so I definitely recommend getting that and the Gobi Manchurian for sure"
"Came on the weekend with my wife and her family and everything was honesty great. We got the thali platters with garlic naan and everything was so good especially the butter chicken. It's fair price and plentiful food with a lot of variety. The waiter Lefitto was able to accommodate our strange requests to have mimosas by providing mango purée and the bubbly. The experienced was mostly enhanced by Lefitto. His energy, friendliness, and genuine personality made interactions very seamless and he was very accommodating to our needs.Great food, great ambiance, and great service. We'll defiantly make Swagat our staple Indian food destination for cravings."
"Good place! We had a pretty good spread of food, and the drink options were fun (got to try a beer I'd never had, which is nice). Not the BEST Indian food I've ever had, but really solid. They're still really hard core with the covid protocols, but I wouldn't say that detracted from the experience much, just a little more DIY in terms of silverware and table amenities. Beyond that, the service was very pleasant. There weren't many other people in the place, so it was a nice place to grab a relaxing bite. All in all solid. I'd go back."

Really enjoyed this fancier version of Indian street food. We came on a Sunday around 7 and the line was to the door. They moved decently fast and the food came out quickly for how many people were there. We got the kati roll with paneer, the pork vindaloo and a vada pav. I liked that they have an area you can load up on chiles and sauces as well. Beware that the chiles pack some heat! But I really enjoyed them because otherwise the dishes don't come with any.The pork vindaloo was great! The flavor of the sauce was so rich, even though there wasn't any cream. Meat was tender and well seasoned. The vada pav is essentially a chickpea patty on a bun with a couple different chutneys. The patty was a little mushy for me but the flavor was wonderful. The kati roll was just ok for me. Good texture on everything but the whole wrap was lukewarm. I feel like they just put the paneer in a precooked wrap. Good flavors again, but just not as enjoyable execution.Overall, would definitely recommend. The space is large and they have both indoor and outdoor seating so it can accommodate all different groups sizes.

Absolutely delicious Indian food.Though we like everything we've tried on the menu, our favorites include the famous tikki masala, which we order with all three ingredients -- paneer, potatoes, and mushrooms. One of our friends claims one of the most satisfying meals in Portland is a bowl of Maruti's tikka masala and an order of naan. We also like the mushroom biryani with raita, as well as the daal tadkaa and the palak paneer. Perfectly prepared naan. Gluten-free naan is also an option. The menu is small enough for the orders to come our reasonably fast, and the service is always prompt and cordial. Delightful ambiance. Get there early, especially on the weekends, because the tables fill up fast.

This place is the bomb. We like an Indian buffet in Spokane, and that one can't hold a candle to this place. 8p and all the trays are at least full, with lots of steaming hot and delicious food. Clean for a buffet! Plus coconut and mango soft serve. If we lived here, I swear we'd make it here on a weekly basis.

So my partner is Celiac and cannot tolerate gluten in any way, shape, or form. So Indian food works really well for her, as most Indian dishes can be prepared gluten free. After an afternoon watching the Portland Thorns play the Kansas City Current (Thorns won, 3-0, go Thorns!), we made a side trip to the East India Company restaurant before heading home. The entry is one long bar, and is very elegant. We approached the hostess, who asked if we had reservations. We did not, but she said she could make something work if we were willing to wait. We were and she was wonderful about letting us know what was going on.When we got to the main dining area, the ambiance was fantastic. A gorgeous sculpture hangs overhead and the tables are dark and romantic. The smell is of wonderful curry and there is a sense that every table is separate from every other table, giving you a sense of privacy, even if someone is sitting next to you.My partner is in love with the Machli Ka Tikka, a salmon curry that she just dies for. Our server suggested to her that it would be four pieces of fish, so she might want to go for another dish. That being said, she also went with a Murg Tikka, a chicken in yogurt and saffron. I don't like fish, but I love chicken, and I found it to be amazing. I would also note that the pieces of salmon that were served to us were HUGE! Huge enough that, along with some bits of the Murg Tikka and my own dish, my partner basically took most of the chicken home.I was going to go for the chicken vindaloo, myself, but that's not able to be prepared gluten free at East India Co. As part of us going out on date night and making events of the evenings we get to ourselves, I try my best to eat gluten free myself so that we can share dishes. Therefore, I went with the chicken Makhani, basically butter chicken. For spice, I asked for it to be as spicy as possible. Not "I say I like spicy but I think ketchup is spicy," but "spicy like I like it hot" spicy. The waitress said she absolutely understood. The sauce, chicken, and rice under it were wonderful. Rich and thick, and hot, though not debilitatingly hot. The butter and cream in the sauce are going to tone down a lot of those spices, so it was middling hot to both our pallets, at best. Still, it was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening, along with some nice glasses of wine, and pleasant conversation and company. Next time we get out to a Thorns game, we'll definitely make reservations, but this is one of our go-to restaurants now.

"I usually don't start a restaurant review with service and vibe/aesthetics but in this case, i'm gonna. If you wanted to know what it's like to eat dinner at the DMV, this might be your jam. The lighting is awful and will shorten your stay for sure, but maybe that's their point? Service was the bare minimum but awkwardly staring at our table the whole time. The food was hit and miss for me, where as the malai chicken tikka was tender and flavorful, the tandoori chicken was on the dry side and not all that pleasing. I also tried lamb biryani, it was flat and after one bite, I was kind of ready to move on. All & all, not sure if I would return as it was not horrible, but again, it was not memorable."
"This is my favorite local spot for Indian food and I have had them 5-6 times! So consistent and always so good. The naan is larger than other places as well. The only downside is there do not seat people inside currently but, for a takeout spot, easily the best one."
"I tried to offer my gf an Indian cuisine experience in Eugene OR and it paled in comparison to what I have experienced having lived in San Diego as well as Namaste several years ago (pre-pandemic. We drove up from Eugene and arrived for dinner and were seated close to the buffet line as I am dealing with a knee injury. The exterior is non-descript which I found to a wonderful juxtaposition from the plethora of amazing aromatic notes we encountered as soon as we opened the doors to this restaurant. My GF thought the ginger chicken was the best chicken dish she'd ever had and I was very fond of the Palak Paneer (sentimental dish for me that was perfectly executed here) but the Mango Chili chicken had me going back up for several repeat visits to that entree. That was spot-on culinary perfection - just enough heat to makes its presence known but not overpowering against the mango flavor both played very well against moist chicken. Their chicken Tikka Masala is also seriously legit. The Jasmine rice lended itself to be a great bed for the different entrees and a means to sop up the different delightful sauces and further enjoyed with fresh nan which came out fresh constantly (LOVED THAT!!!).I have upped my home cooking skills during the pandemic and have become very adept at homemade raviolis. various pastas, smoked meats/bbq and numerous other ethnic cuisines. These dishes I am perfectly ok leaving to the pros and will gladly take the drive up north to experience again. To the Owner and chefs @ Namaste - thank you for an exquisite meal that allowed me to show my GF what proper Indian Cuisine is like. She's enamored with your food as am I."
"Omg this place is so good. I love Indian food, as I'm a vegetarian, and I usually stick to Chana masala whenever I go to an Indian restaurant. This time, I decided to try the vegetable korma and it's ridiculous how tasty it is. The rice is perfectly cooked, the garlic naan is huge and delicious (could use even more garlic IMO because I can eat a bulb's worth), and the chutneys are SOOO good and flavorful. My husband had the butter chicken and he really enjoyed it. We did pick up through DoorDash and I think prices were a little higher on the app but it was worth it for the ease of ordering and pickup. Don't miss this place if you're at Cartlandia -- it's kind of hidden in the southwest corner and he closes a bit early (7pm when I posted this review)."
"Wow! I was so lucky to be in this neighborhood today and find Namaste Bazaar. From reading previous Yelp reviews I knew they had groceries but I had no idea what a fun experience this was going to be. They had an entire section of Indian suits, jewelry and slippers. The store space is shared 50/50 with a company selling beautiful clothing and foods from Tonga. It is very clean, open, and spacious. I met a few owners and employees who were so friendly and welcoming. But the absolute highlight was to see the cooking/dining area. I ordered my lunch and sat down to eat. I was in heaven! There is nothing like authentic, homemade food from women who share a kitchen space together :) I hope no one was looking while I was eating because my face was ridiculous, it said it all, lol! Thank you Namaste Bazaar!"
"My first time here was at Reverend Nat's Night Market. They were the only cart without anyone in line, but food took about 30 minutes so maybe people walked away after ordering. The wait was kinda painful, the one order at a time process during a street fair doesn't work.Another customer indicated that this is the best spot for Indian in Portland. I agree that it was good, but the bar for Indian food in Portland is low.Matar Paneer, my favorite Indian dish, was up to par. The Basmati rice nice and fluffy. Moreover, the togo dishes were still blistering hot when I got home. The guy in the window (owner?) was nice."
"This is my favorite indian spot in Hillsboro. Ive tried their Chicken Tiki Masala, Chicken Curry and their naan bread. Everything tastes homemade and the sauces they use are rich with spices and flavor. The rice that the curries come with is fluffy and fragrant. Will definitely be revisiting to try the rest of the menu out"

"This is definitely my favorite Indian food in town. It's close to my house, so we call in often. The menu is limited, but everything is good, and can be made with protein of choice."
"Delicious food and good service in a diner ambience that in no way matches the food served here. The bright American style diner interior is not an indicator of the layered, nuanced Indian food served here. It doesn't matter really because the food, the service and the dinner conversation ultimately matter more to me and my dining partners. Our food was outstanding--I can't wait to return to try something more daring than medium heat curry. Don't get me wrong--that curry was great. I just suspect there's a whole menu of great waiting to be discovered. There's no alcohol available at this early point of their St. John's location, but it's coming. I'll be here when it arrives."
"If you want good Indian cuisine at street food prices here you go. Dhaba is the place for you. They have all your favorite dishes. They have any heat level you desire. The taste is fabulous. Party I'm your mouth. Check them out!!!!!"
"This place is solid! So far I've ordered butter marasala, goat biryani, sagwala, and the punjabi goat masala, and tandori chicken. They were all really tasty. I like that the goat is a little chewy, although you should be careful because there are bones in it, however the bones adds cartiliage which makes the meat tasty. The tandori chicken is tender and not dry.The naan is really huge, so I think one is enough for 2 people, unless you're really hungry. However, it is perfect for the dishes to soak up the sauce. They just opened so if you go at peak eating times, it will be busy. Ordered take out and that worked out well. They have an extensive menu, so I'm excited to try more things there."
"We really liked Hollywood Bites, the restaurant that used to be in this space. I even got an ROTD for my review. Butter chicken is one of our comfort foods so we thought we would try Charminar House and order delivery. It was expensive. $83+ total. We ordered: Butter chicken- 4 pieces of dry sliced chicken breast in creamy tomato curry. Tasty. Mutter paneer- peas and small cheese cubes in creamy, less tomatoey curry. Kid loves this. I like sag/spinach paneeer better. Next time. Naan- rectangular, really thin, with holes like swiss cheese but nicely brown. 2 pieces for $3ish dollars. We got four, because leftovers.Chicken lollipops - smaller than anticipated but tasty. Kid was pleasantly surprised. raita - really good.Fresh and bright and tart.samosas x2- flaky pastry with yummy potato filling. They came with a spicy green chutney. A mango lassi- small but my kid loved it.rice- two small cartons. Not enough rice. I ordered everything mild, because me and my post cancer life means minimal heat. Tragic. The butter chicken was good, it was a little skimpy on the chicken and a little spicier than anticipated. But it and naan are our Indian food litmus test.We wil order again. I think we will go in person. P.S. I saw on IG an Indian person was outta rice and the chicken was gone so they mixed their leftover butter chicken sauce with pasta as a food hack- they're right, it is BOMB.We mixed ours with linguine. Yum! Do try it."
"I've gotten take away and delivery numerous times from Indian Flame. The food has always been good. It tastes like homemade, authentic Indian cuisine. The lady who usually waits on me at the counter has always been pleasant and welcoming. The atmosphere of the dining area is very casual. There are booths and table seating but no patio or outside dining. The market next door is accessible from inside the restaurant. The menu is extensive, offering everything from dosa to Indo-chinese dishes to chaat to tasty subjis and biryanis. I've enjoyed several dosas from here. I really like the way they package the crepe separately from the filling, allowing you to spread it when ready to eat. The subjis are accompanied by fluffy basmati. The restaurant also has a sweets case that is hard to resist. Indian Flame is located in Tanasbourne close to Target. There is plenty of parking available along with a nearby charging area. Bus 52 stops nearby too. If you like Indian food, give them a try."
"I'm hungry. Why? Because the forgot a dish. Samosa where u at?Because the paalak paneer came in a wee 1/2 pint and had 5 pieces of cheese. Very good but wee.Because the spicy and delicious Chicken tikka came in a wee 1/2 pint with less than 1/2 a chicken breast.Lamb kebab was ok sized but did all the dishes that come with naan need to have 1/2 a small naan only? Sauces and curries all delicious but when it's. 95% sauce...not cool.Very expensive for what showed up.50/50 chance Grubhub driver is snacking on my samosas. Restaurants don't forget food as consistently as food disappears when GH delivers."
