Smaly K. "My bf and I came here for lunch (it's been on my list for so long), and there were just too many things I wanted to try. I finally decided on the Trio Plate with Garlic Shrimp, Shrimp Katsu, and Krack Chicken. My bf got the Combo Plate with Garlic Shrimp and Ono Chicken. They were nice, big plates of food, and oh, so yummy. Everything on my dish was delicious. All so full of flavor. I had leftovers, and gladly ate it later in the hotel room. Having been wanting to come back since."

Mojdeh S. "How I heard of this place: Visiting friends in Portland's Laurelhurst neighborhood, this was among the recommendations for places we could walk to from their home. Come and experience the taste of Hawaii in Portland at Ate-Oh-Ate."What I ordered: My sister and I wanted to share, so I took her top two, Korean Chicken ($15.95) - grilled boneless thighs with sweet, spicy Korean chili sauce, served with kimchi; and Shoyu Chicken ($15.95) - boneless chicken thighs simmered in shoyu, brown sugar, ginger and star anise with a side of mac salad. I also indulged in a Frozen Limeade ($6). What I loved: The Korean Chicken was great, slightly spicy but still easy to swallow. The food overall lacked the punch of flavor that we are used to in Hawaiian cuisine, but the portions were plentiful and filled us up! Why I loved it: A cute space with character - concrete walls, chalkboard menus, wooden tables/chairs in the long space, exposed wood in the tall ceilings, and calming forest green walls with silhouetted tree paintings. Cost: Average"

Nooshi B. "Great little spot for some really good poke! A regular size is plenty for one person and you'll probably have some leftover. The ladies working there were super helpful with recommendation during my first visit. I got a base with half kale salad and half rice and went on to get both types of salmon for my base- which were amazing by the way. I proceeded to add all the toppings and created the yummiest bowl! Note: their chili oil packs a punch so tread lightly!"

They also have great sauce options. We ordered the Kalua Pig and the Shoyu Chicken entrees along with the Asian Slaw for a side. Everything tasted fresh and on point. Left feeling beyond full and satisfied. Whether you grab it to go or sit and eat in the cozy interior, 808 Grinds is IT."

Nico B. "I'm finally getting around to writing reviews for some of my favorite old-school places in Portland. There are few businesses in the Rose City that are as iconic as the Alibi Tiki Lounge. In fact, it's such an important fixture in the tableau of weird and wonderful Portland, I'd suggest visiting at least once... regardless of what you read or hear from others. The kitsch is off the charts before you even walk through the door. One of my favorite things about this area are the historic neon signs that line Interstate avenue. At one time, Interstate was the primary route between Portland and Seattle. So it makes sense this stretch of the road is dotted with old school diners, motels and service stations. Do me a favor and visit at night so you can see the fabulous neon at Alibi and surrounding businesses in all their glory! Once inside, be sure to wander around and explore all the nooks and crannies in the lounge. The building is designed to provide lots of private booths and seating areas. My favorite tables and booths are in the circular elevated area immediately to the right of the entrance. Whimsical lighting, mirrors galore, and red tufted leather booths help set the tone. There's limited seating at the bar itself, but you'll find an area reserved for karaoke in the back, as well as plenty of outdoor seating. The menu boasts an impressive array of classic and inventive tiki cocktails served in kitschy mugs and embellished with tropical fruit, orchids and umbrellas. There is a wide variety of drinks available, but be sure to try one of their shareable "bowl" drinks, often arriving at the table engulfed in flames. I've honestly not eaten much from the food menu, despite many visits over the years. Their burger is bland, the fries are salty, and the nachos taste like cafeteria nachos. I've heard good things about the Pu Pu Platter, but do we really come here for the food? Please defer to other reviewers for an accurate recommendation. Megan G, an Elite reviewer from Sammamish, WA recommends the wings. I'll try those next time! Alibi Tiki Lounge is a delightful escape from the ordinary. It's a must-see attraction for tiki enthusiasts, and lovers of Portland history. Remember to drink responsibly and share your review here so others can learn about this fun and quirky place."

Ingrid V. ""Hawai'i has often been called a melting pot, but I think of it more as a 'mixed plate'-a scoop of rice with gravy, a scoop of macaroni salad, a piece of mahi-mahi, and a side of kimchi."-- Alan Brennert, HonoluluDriving up to this little cart in a nondescript tiny lot next to a flower shop doesn't really give you the impression that you're in for something special... ...BUT YOU ARE. There is LOVE in these plate lunches. There is ALOHA in this food. A few bites of the PASTELE STEW will having you hollering ONO and MAHALO witih every bite. There's pork cubes in a mildly tangy tomato based sauce with some olives, and achiote (I think). My favorite thing on the menu. The Mac salad is the best I've ever tasted. Friends - there is potato in there. There is some hard boiled egg in there. There's the usual mac, mayo, and shredded onion in there. There's probably secret ingredients in there. And its all balanced perfectly. The GUAVA CHICKEN is 'gazmic. The KALUA PORK is delicious. The dude who owns the cart is a WHOLE VIBE. Seriously - Get the Pastele Stew. It is incredible. The closest thing I've ever tasted that might be similar is my mom's Filipino Cocido. Apparently it has Puerto Rican roots, and got filtered through a bunch of Hawaiian grandmas to become the delicious dish it is now. Effing magical."

The food is always on point. So ONO!!I been in Portland for a few years now and was craving good authentic Hawaiian Poke. The make your own bowl places are good and all, but I want that fresh fish, buttery texture and a salty finish. I get that here at 808.Last time I was here I got the Poke Sampler which was 2 of their Ahi Poke and their Salmon Poke. My goodness... It was enough for 2 meals. They said 10oz but it really felt like a whole pound! So much freshness and great texture. It's like they made it right next to the ocean in the islands. You get to even choose one of their special sauces, I always get the Sweet Wasabi. Man, I can eat anything with this stuff!! I dream about it and to put a ring on it. Its that good, trust me, thank me later!"

I just went Big Island last summer and think this place is better than a really popular place in Kona Go with the Death Row Plate for $27. Two types of fried chicken, poke, mac salad and rice. Jeff G. "Aloha Grill in Tualatin is more than just a fast food joint; it's a five-star Hawaiian culinary treasure. The flavors are absolutely spot-on. Whether it's the perfectly seasoned teriyaki or the delightfully crispy Katsu, every dish is a testament to the authentic Hawaiian cuisine. The grilled beef short-rib is remarkably tender and the way they serve the teriyaki on a bed of fresh cabbage, accompanied by two scoops of rice and a scoop of Hawaiian style Mac, is simply divine. But what truly sets Aloha Grill apart is their warm, friendly Hawaiian style service that makes you feel right at home. The restaurant's clean and inviting atmosphere adds to the overall delightful dining experience. If you're looking for a reputable Hawaiian restaurant, Aloha Grill is undeniably the place to go in Tualatin."

Chad C. "Had no clue there was a Hawaiian joint in this neighborhood, and this place is absolutely not what you'd expect from the outside, or even from the inside to be honest. Friend and I came in here on a Friday afternoon for a bite and a couple drinks, and ended up having a rendezvous of friends in the area that also wanted to enjoy an evening out. The weather was gorgeous, and they have a pretty big covered patio on the sidewalk, but unfortunately it seemed to be full of smokers when we arrived, so we took a table/makeshift "booth" in the back.(I say "booth" because they have tatami/plexiglas screens hanging from the ceiling to separate each freestanding table. This is a pretty cool idea and makes for some hilarious scenarios when the next table over is kinda drunk and runs into the screen, realizes they ran into it, turns and looks through the window and waves.)Up front, the specialty drinks were good, but nothing to really write home about - and that's ok, they do the job. What you are going to want to write home about is the food!First thing you're going to want to order is the Musubi - tofu or spam, they're both a brick of deliciousness. It's $5 for lego brick of rice and protein wrapped up in seaweed and you need to get at least one to put in your face.My friends and I all ordered different things - steak fries, regular basket of fries, pulled pork plate, the pork sandwich... but I'd been craving ramen for a few days and saw the hung ova soup just sitting there at the bottom of the menu. The Hung Ova Soup is...a lot more than you'd expect. It's huge! A kinda salty/savory broth that's full of bok choy, gyoza, your choice of meat (I got spam) and noodles. Yeah, the noodles are pretty obviously out of instant/top ramen packets, but I'm not knocking them for that. Those noodles are built to sop up the deliciousness of whatever they're put near, and when you put all this deliciousness in that bowl, it turns into something epic!"

Melyssa G. "I wanted to try a filipino restaurant and found this spot. Opens at 11, but they were a bit late unlocking the doors today. We waited in the car and saw people starting to walk in, so we headed on in. It's an old craftsman house which was renovated into a restaurant. It was nice and open upon walking in and we were directed to a numbered table. Right next to the window was a nice touch. There's lots to choose from, but the kare kare caught our eyes. It was big enough to share. I suggest getting another side order of rice if you plan on sharing a meal. We also got the fresh lumpia, as a starter. You may need to ask for a couple of plates and a serving spoon if you're sharing a meal or appetizer. The staff was very nice. My mom got to chatting with them. We want to come back and try the rest of the menu. As others have mentioned, the portions are definitely big enough to share. Bring your appetite."

Mikhail H. "So I just started a new job right by here and thought I might give this place a go since it smelled great and was so close. I have not has a decent bento bowl in a long time since I live in Beaverton and there really just are not decent bento places by me.Immediately I noticed how amazingly clean and neat this place is - especially for a little hole in the wall strip mall. So then I noticed how cheap the food is....and the speed, she takes those orders fast and accurate. It is pretty amazing indeed. She even remembers a lot of customers by name and is super friendly but not fake at all. I was impressed at how many regulars go there! Even with the sheer volume of people though they are still smokin fast and accurate. Before I even sat down my order was ready and was very good! I have never had any restaurant deliver that fast! The food for the price is pretty impressive and they do not even skimp on the sauce! Just wow... I also must say I loved the variety of their menu but for $6.20 you get the chicken bento which is a pile of rice, chicken teriyaki with lots of sauce, a small pile of veggies and three chicken gyoza which are fresh and perfectly crispy and fresh plus a drink! Great value!"

Mikhail H. "A friend brought me here for dinner. I really only got into Hawaiian food thanks to friends from the islands so I am not in the know for authentic. The very sweet guy at the counter was great as we were complex getting an order to go for her husband and me being completely clueless as to all the things. I was happy she clued me in on the slushies and we both tried them both. Lime and coconut were the two and they were both made with coconut milk, having that creaminess. Delicious! I was getting brain freeze though - it was pretty hot out and I just cannot do super cold when I am super hot. Delicious as they were I had to just get a Mexican coke with a big old cup of ice. My friend grabbed a slushie and added a shot to it which you can do!The food was great - I tried her Kahlua pork which was great. I got the teriyaki chicken and the chicken katsu - both were very good though the BBQ sauce served with the katsu was a lot more liquid and vinegar forward that I like so I used their teriyaki sauce. Their mac salad is a lot more sweet than previous experiences at other places and my friend said that they use a lot more pineapple. It is very creamy and I did like it. What I was not a fan of was the butter mochi cake but I am not a fan of that texture which I think is correct. I could see people liking it but I just find the sticky tacky texture to be unappealing so you might love it!"
