"Discover the Aloha Spirit at David's HI K Shoots Grill in Portland! We recently hit up David's HI K Shoots Grill in The Zed for a graduation party, and let me tell you, this place is a hidden gem! Growing up in Hawaii, our standards for local food are high, so I was skeptical. But K Shoots Grill blew us away! The garlic chicken with gochujang aioli sauce? Absolutely ono (delicious)! And the Kalua pig? It took me straight back to the islands. I'm usually not a fan of mac salad, but Dave's version is on another level - I devoured my serving and went back for seconds. If you find yourself hungry in Portland, do yourself a favor and stop by K Shoots Grill. Trust me, you won't regret it. I'll definitely be back to kau kau (eat) soon!"
"Decided to try this place for the first time. It is located at the Gresham food carts on Burnside. I went with the teriyaki chicken. It was $12 the man working was very nice and my food came in about 10 minutes. The order comes with teriyaki chicken, rice and Maccaroni salad. The serving size was ok. The chicken was good but needed more char it was missing that grilled flavor. The Maccaroni salad was good and seemed fresh. But the rice was not up to par, it was very dry and seemed old, not good at all. So thus the 3 stars not great not horrible."

"My bf and I came here for lunch (it's been on my list for so long), and there were just too many things I wanted to try. I finally decided on the Trio Plate with Garlic Shrimp, Shrimp Katsu, and Krack Chicken. My bf got the Combo Plate with Garlic Shrimp and Ono Chicken. They were nice, big plates of food, and oh, so yummy. Everything on my dish was delicious. All so full of flavor. I had leftovers, and gladly ate it later in the hotel room. Having been wanting to come back since."
"This is THE Hawaiian food place, not only does the food come out super quick, but the staff is always super nice and they load up your plate. Huge portions and terrific deals. They also have great sauce options. We ordered the Kalua Pig and the Shoyu Chicken entrees along with the Asian Slaw for a side. Everything tasted fresh and on point. Left feeling beyond full and satisfied. Whether you grab it to go or sit and eat in the cozy interior, 808 Grinds is IT."
"I wanted to try a filipino restaurant and found this spot. Opens at 11, but they were a bit late unlocking the doors today. We waited in the car and saw people starting to walk in, so we headed on in. It's an old craftsman house which was renovated into a restaurant. It was nice and open upon walking in and we were directed to a numbered table. Right next to the window was a nice touch. There's lots to choose from, but the kare kare caught our eyes. It was big enough to share. I suggest getting another side order of rice if you plan on sharing a meal. We also got the fresh lumpia, as a starter. You may need to ask for a couple of plates and a serving spoon if you're sharing a meal or appetizer. The staff was very nice. My mom got to chatting with them. We want to come back and try the rest of the menu. As others have mentioned, the portions are definitely big enough to share. Bring your appetite."
"The service is phenomenal he was super nice and helpful. We got almost everything on the menu, the Mahi taco was better than the one I had fresh off the boat in Hawaii!! My mind was blown... the chicken taco was my next favorite, the fried avocado taco was alright I wouldn't order it again, but it was interesting. This place will transport you to a beachy vibe every bite you take. My new favorite fish taco place for sure. Thanks for taking me to the islands one bite at a time ;)"
"After moving to Vancouver from Hawaii, we weren't sure how difficult it might be to find tasty Hawaiian/local food. Lucky for us, there are a number of great Hawaiian/local restaurants in the area. That being said, Kiawe Island Bistro ranks at the top! Visiting Kiawe Island Bistro makes you feel like you are back at home, popping into a local restaurant after a day at the beach. Everyone is friendly and welcoming, the music is great, and best of all, the food is "ono"! I had the Loco Moco and my husband had the Kalua Pig. The flavors are spot on and the portions were generous. We look forward to returning and having dessert next time, too!"
"A friend brought me here for dinner. I really only got into Hawaiian food thanks to friends from the islands so I am not in the know for authentic. The very sweet guy at the counter was great as we were complex getting an order to go for her husband and me being completely clueless as to all the things. I was happy she clued me in on the slushies and we both tried them both. Lime and coconut were the two and they were both made with coconut milk, having that creaminess. Delicious! I was getting brain freeze though - it was pretty hot out and I just cannot do super cold when I am super hot. Delicious as they were I had to just get a Mexican coke with a big old cup of ice. My friend grabbed a slushie and added a shot to it which you can do!The food was great - I tried her Kahlua pork which was great. I got the teriyaki chicken and the chicken katsu - both were very good though the BBQ sauce served with the katsu was a lot more liquid and vinegar forward that I like so I used their teriyaki sauce. Their mac salad is a lot more sweet than previous experiences at other places and my friend said that they use a lot more pineapple. It is very creamy and I did like it. What I was not a fan of was the butter mochi cake but I am not a fan of that texture which I think is correct. I could see people liking it but I just find the sticky tacky texture to be unappealing so you might love it!"
"Had no clue there was a Hawaiian joint in this neighborhood, and this place is absolutely not what you'd expect from the outside, or even from the inside to be honest. Friend and I came in here on a Friday afternoon for a bite and a couple drinks, and ended up having a rendezvous of friends in the area that also wanted to enjoy an evening out. The weather was gorgeous, and they have a pretty big covered patio on the sidewalk, but unfortunately it seemed to be full of smokers when we arrived, so we took a table/makeshift "booth" in the back.(I say "booth" because they have tatami/plexiglas screens hanging from the ceiling to separate each freestanding table. This is a pretty cool idea and makes for some hilarious scenarios when the next table over is kinda drunk and runs into the screen, realizes they ran into it, turns and looks through the window and waves.)Up front, the specialty drinks were good, but nothing to really write home about - and that's ok, they do the job. What you are going to want to write home about is the food!First thing you're going to want to order is the Musubi - tofu or spam, they're both a brick of deliciousness. It's $5 for lego brick of rice and protein wrapped up in seaweed and you need to get at least one to put in your face.My friends and I all ordered different things - steak fries, regular basket of fries, pulled pork plate, the pork sandwich... but I'd been craving ramen for a few days and saw the hung ova soup just sitting there at the bottom of the menu. The Hung Ova Soup is...a lot more than you'd expect. It's huge! A kinda salty/savory broth that's full of bok choy, gyoza, your choice of meat (I got spam) and noodles. Yeah, the noodles are pretty obviously out of instant/top ramen packets, but I'm not knocking them for that. Those noodles are built to sop up the deliciousness of whatever they're put near, and when you put all this deliciousness in that bowl, it turns into something epic!"
"hit this place up on our bicycle food tour.we were pretty stuffed already;however, we really enjoyed the food even still.they have a few food carts here to choose, but if you're in the mood for some legit bulgogi, well, then, stop on by and get some.asian/hawaiian fusion is on point.loved this place!"

First time and will be back. Portions are generous and friendly customer service. Bbq chicken is amazing...if you love tender, sweet/salty charred chicken, this is some of the best I've had. Amazing! Garlic chicken was good, would want a little more crunch, maybe another minute or so in the fryer. Garlic flavor was pleasant. Rice was cooked very well. Mac salad was good, missing a little seasoning. I like Roxy's Mac salad as a reference. I'll be back to try other items too...$19.50 for the plate, so a little higher, but quality is there and supporting a local business costs more and I'll do that!

At first, I thought I was at the wrong location based on the previous photos in Yelp, but I realized they had moved. It was a hot day and I was hoping that the indoor dining was air conditioned, but that was not the case. They did have the fans running, but not enough to keep us cool in this heat. However, we heard so many great things about them and we came hungry so we were looking forward to getting our grub on. And they did not disappoint with the generous portions which we ended up with leftovers for later.5/5 - Ono Chicken - A must try! The star out of all the things we ordered. Bomb!4.5/5 - Spicy Ahi Poke - Sauce was a tad bit too much, but still delicious.5/5 - Walnut Shrimp - Huge prawns and cooked perfectly.3/5 - Shrimp Katsu - Overcooked and dry, but with the sauce, it had flavor.3.5/5 - Kalua Pork - Lacked the smoky flavor and was under seasoned, but very tender.3/5 - Mac Salad - A little bland but balanced out with the flavors of the other dishes. It really brought us back to the islands and we are so happy to have good Hawaiian food in Portland. I wish they were closer to us in the west side of the Portland Metro in either Beaverton or Hillsboro, but it was definitely worth the trip.

While my car was getting some maintenance nearby, I hoofed it over to Kuya's to grab a bite and beverage. Having lived on Maui, it was good to dig into some tasty island style grinds (cuisine).

Great spot for some island style tacos. I've tried all the tacos and pork sliders as well. The flour tortillas have just the perfect amount of char and crunch to them. You can choose natural or blackened, blackened is the way to go. Great value here, I usually spend about $10 and leave full and satisfied.

I've been here a couple of times now, and I gotta say, it's one of the best Hawaiian food I've had around town. It feels like mom & pop store the moment you step in, with home-vibes. There's a self-service water station too, which only adds to the corner shop vibes.I've gotten multiple things at this point- loco moco, Japolo chicken, garlic chicken, kalbi, kalua pork with cabbage. The best? It's a definite tie between Japolo chicken and garlic chicken. That being said, they really know how to fry their chicken so that it's crispy, and also know how to douse them in sauce for that perfect sauce-chicken-breading ratio. This place is my to-go Hawaiian place now

"Ordered the Kalua Pig and 808 Fried Chicken! It was absolutely delicious. With ordering one plate, I loved how it was enough for leftovers or for two people. Their portions are generous for a good price! You can also choose a variety of sauces they have, such as spicy mayo, ginger soy, teriyaki, and more!"
"These two guys are fun and cooking up so local grindz! The menu is limited to breakfast, but who doesn't love breakfast for lunch, especially if it Filipino/Hawaiian! The food is out quick, it's hot, it's fresh and it's ONO!"
"I have seen advertisement for this place on Facebook and read a lot of good reviews already so I'm surprised I am the first one commenting on them on Yelp. I used to live in Hawaii years ago and recently just visited the islands. I'm picky about my Hawaiian food, and haven't found a lot of good Hawaiian food options in Portland. There are a few just not as close as this one. This place is ono. The guys running the cart were very friendly, and I could tell by the way they talked they were from the islands. All the food we ordered was great. My Mom who was born and raised in Waimanalo is also very picky about her Hawaiian food and said that the Kalbi ribs were some of the best she's had. I definitely would recommend this place, and to get there early because they sometimes sell out of items and leave once they have sold out. We ordered the two plate combos. My Mom got the hamburger steak and ribs with rice and mac salad. Like I mentioned before the Kalbi shirt ribs were amazing. The hamburger steak was smothered in a rich brown gravy that was delicious. Even the Mac salad tasted great. I ordered the garlic shrimp and Kalbi ribs with the pineapple coleslaw and rice. It was all so good. Bruddah T' is located in a gravel parking lot with a few other food carts and has lots of parking and shaded places to sit. I'm glad to see this place is open and taste great. We definitely will be back to try more food."
"On the First Thursday in Pearl , this place also comes alive with the rest of the street because of the close proximity and also because they are a respite from the intensely hot afternoon sun .We used to frequent Botanist pre-covid and I feel they haven't deterred much from the previous setup or vibe . We stopped by for a few drinks and had a nice time overall. You need to order at the bar and grab a seat after that. Just like the previous version of this place , they have some great food options and drinks with fresh ingredients . Even though we didn't partake, the patio party seemed a lot of fun ."

"Good value, large portions, tasty food and friendly owners. I just went Big Island last summer and think this place is better than a really popular place in Kona Go with the Death Row Plate for $27. Two types of fried chicken, poke, mac salad and rice. Sooo good!! I'll definitely be back. Pay attention to their instagram, they're only open for a few hours and they sell out QUICK because they have lots of IG hype and absolutely meet expectations."
"Noho's Hawaiian is my to go comfort food spot for when I have a craving for Hawaiian food! Not sure how I found this spot but been going here since like 2018 and the food remains as good as ever. My to go order will always be the Mochiko chicken and the Korean mixed plate I do switch up my order here and there sometimesss. Inside is such a vibe with Hawaiian music in the back ground and all the surf boards they have as decor. Staff are friendly and I enjoy eating here in the summer since they have an open patio in the back. Food doesn't take long to come out and taste good every time, their portion is big so I always have left over to bring home. Will continue to come back!"
"The notion of tiki drinks have never been that appealing to me, but vibe is most certainly what I love about Hale Pele. It feels like a lounge, dive bar, and eatery all in one and with the lack of pretension that comes with Portland nightlife, I could see myself easily coming here to knock out a few before calling it a night. Perhaps on some level, that's what they intended all along. The place is tight and narrow. There's always a number of folks who lined up along the long bar counter and there are a handful of tables where small groups are getting cozy and enjoying the intimate digs. The tiki-themed decor comes off as cheesy initially, but at some point they do play a big part of the ambiance. To no one's surprise, the biggest draw are their drinks. At $14-18 a pop, they're considered high for Portland standards, but they're pretty cocktails overall. The doctor funk ($15) is a perennial fave as well as the Singpore Sling ($14). They make a decent hurricane ($15) a la Louisiana and their zombie punch ($18) is one of the strongest drinks on the menu. Most bars that offer food don't have much to offer beyond the bar, but that's not the case here. The items I ordered were surprisingly tasty. Their salt and pepper taro chips ($8) were easy to munch on and the crab rangoon dip ($13) as well as the poke ($20) were solid all around. The Hawaiian bread ($8) is deceiving as the bread is grilled and served with guava ginger and the sweet chili wings ($12) are a hit. I enjoyed their kalua pork ($16), cuban sandwich ($13), and katsu chicken. My expectations weren't high but they more than delivered.Lastly, the bartenders and wait staff were efficient, professional, and amiable all around. I can totally see myself coming back for a cocktail, a bite, and some good company."
"Having a Hawaiian phase right now and boy did we enjoy this little gem! She really loaded up the plate and I appreciated it! The macaroni salad was very delicious and seasoned well! I love green onion and it was a perfect amount! The pork was not salty... did you hear me? Not salty! The pork was soft, seasoned perfectly and the sauce? Was gelatinous???? Usually it's either just soy sauce or sweet soy sauce??? It's almost like a broth??? I'm just truly amazed in the small things from a food truck, you can tell there's love out in. We also got some spam mash is and the black sesame pairing was nice to the spam! Really loved it and will come back for more"
"Pretty good Hawaiian food stall. Very straightforward. Ordered some BBQ and kalua pork. Cashier was friendly. It's a bit hot and stuffy to dine inside, so I'd look at this more of a takeout place. There's a few parking spots in the small lot."
"(Note: Went to the one near SW 5th and Stark...actually didn't know there were two locations)Almost all the dishes have a mini and a regular size. Both mini and regular sizes get one scoop of macaroni salad (or tossed salad, if you wish), but the regular gets an extra scoop of rice. Some of the more popular menu items include the chicken katsu and the teriyaki chicken.I went with the mini teriyaki chicken this time around ($5). The teriyaki sauce is homemade, coating strips of grilled chicken. That sits on a small handful of chopped cabbage, with the scoops of rice and mac salad right next to it.I thought the teriyaki sauce was excellent. Not only did it have excellent sweet-savory flavor, but the consistency was on point. It was thicker than some unappetizing watery concoction, yet thinner than a stick-to-your-utensil-and-mouth glaze. The chicken was cooked very well, staying rather moist. Very pleasing to the eye and to the taste buds. The mac salad here is spot on. The peppery bite I always look for, check! Macaroni around al dente, check! Cold mac salad, check! Just a bit of color, such as grated carrot, would have made me go dance in the street and piss people off.The "mini" teriyaki chicken came in a regular-sized plate lunch container, so it momentarily gave a deceiving appearance, almost a "Where's the real order at?" reaction. But the portion size was about right after re-configuring it all in my head...gah, make me use my brain! *plays dead*Anyway, Hawaiian Grill gets a thumbs up from me! Since I've sampled maybe 1/16 of the menu so far, I'll have to try some of their other dishes out as well. If I want to go Hawaiian, it may be the kalua pork, shoyu chicken, or the loco moco. But I also can't rule out the bibimbap, since Korean cuisine must also represent! Check out Hawaiian Grill at lunchtime!"
"Located inside Below by Botanist, this was my first stop for food after arriving in Portland. I had been watching their delicious offerings on their insta feed for months and could not wait. I dragged along a couple of friends and I think we ordered a good portion of the menu!Love that you just scan a QR code at your table and pay that way too and then magical food appears! We had the Mac-n-Cheese lumpia (top tier), tofu bites (yummy), tofu rice, chicken rice (my friend could not stop raving), and masubi (spam, fried chicken and tofu). Again my friends raved about their meaty versions. Wait! How could I forget the poke bites? Inari (tofu skin) filled with rice and topped with poke? Yes please. My only regret is that this spot is not actually in my city for me to eat at weekly. Location is down stairs and in a bar (so no kiddos). Parking is on the street."
"So I just started a new job right by here and thought I might give this place a go since it smelled great and was so close. I have not has a decent bento bowl in a long time since I live in Beaverton and there really just are not decent bento places by me.Immediately I noticed how amazingly clean and neat this place is - especially for a little hole in the wall strip mall. So then I noticed how cheap the food is....and the speed, she takes those orders fast and accurate. It is pretty amazing indeed. She even remembers a lot of customers by name and is super friendly but not fake at all. I was impressed at how many regulars go there! Even with the sheer volume of people though they are still smokin fast and accurate. Before I even sat down my order was ready and was very good! I have never had any restaurant deliver that fast! The food for the price is pretty impressive and they do not even skimp on the sauce! Just wow... I also must say I loved the variety of their menu but for $6.20 you get the chicken bento which is a pile of rice, chicken teriyaki with lots of sauce, a small pile of veggies and three chicken gyoza which are fresh and perfectly crispy and fresh plus a drink! Great value!"
"Aloha Grill in Tualatin is more than just a fast food joint; it's a five-star Hawaiian culinary treasure. The flavors are absolutely spot-on. Whether it's the perfectly seasoned teriyaki or the delightfully crispy Katsu, every dish is a testament to the authentic Hawaiian cuisine. The grilled beef short-rib is remarkably tender and the way they serve the teriyaki on a bed of fresh cabbage, accompanied by two scoops of rice and a scoop of Hawaiian style Mac, is simply divine. But what truly sets Aloha Grill apart is their warm, friendly Hawaiian style service that makes you feel right at home. The restaurant's clean and inviting atmosphere adds to the overall delightful dining experience. If you're looking for a reputable Hawaiian restaurant, Aloha Grill is undeniably the place to go in Tualatin."
"I plan to go back and order more food from them. The only thing I've ever had is their Big Salad and it was REALLY good. I had it with their teriyaki chicken and I added extra kimchi and mac salad. I would definitely get this again but would probably want to explore more of their menu too. They gave me a very generous portion of chicken which I really appreciated so I definitely want to return and I plan to update the review when I had some more of their food options!"
"I'm finally getting around to writing reviews for some of my favorite old-school places in Portland. There are few businesses in the Rose City that are as iconic as the Alibi Tiki Lounge. In fact, it's such an important fixture in the tableau of weird and wonderful Portland, I'd suggest visiting at least once... regardless of what you read or hear from others. The kitsch is off the charts before you even walk through the door. One of my favorite things about this area are the historic neon signs that line Interstate avenue. At one time, Interstate was the primary route between Portland and Seattle. So it makes sense this stretch of the road is dotted with old school diners, motels and service stations. Do me a favor and visit at night so you can see the fabulous neon at Alibi and surrounding businesses in all their glory! Once inside, be sure to wander around and explore all the nooks and crannies in the lounge. The building is designed to provide lots of private booths and seating areas. My favorite tables and booths are in the circular elevated area immediately to the right of the entrance. Whimsical lighting, mirrors galore, and red tufted leather booths help set the tone. There's limited seating at the bar itself, but you'll find an area reserved for karaoke in the back, as well as plenty of outdoor seating. The menu boasts an impressive array of classic and inventive tiki cocktails served in kitschy mugs and embellished with tropical fruit, orchids and umbrellas. There is a wide variety of drinks available, but be sure to try one of their shareable "bowl" drinks, often arriving at the table engulfed in flames. I've honestly not eaten much from the food menu, despite many visits over the years. Their burger is bland, the fries are salty, and the nachos taste like cafeteria nachos. I've heard good things about the Pu Pu Platter, but do we really come here for the food? Please defer to other reviewers for an accurate recommendation. Megan G, an Elite reviewer from Sammamish, WA recommends the wings. I'll try those next time! Alibi Tiki Lounge is a delightful escape from the ordinary. It's a must-see attraction for tiki enthusiasts, and lovers of Portland history. Remember to drink responsibly and share your review here so others can learn about this fun and quirky place."
"Aloha Spirit in the form of Food!! They always make me feel so welcomed here. Its like being back home in Hawaii! Always greeted, always served with a smile. The food is always on point. So ONO!!I been in Portland for a few years now and was craving good authentic Hawaiian Poke. The make your own bowl places are good and all, but I want that fresh fish, buttery texture and a salty finish. I get that here at 808.Last time I was here I got the Poke Sampler which was 2 of their Ahi Poke and their Salmon Poke. My goodness... It was enough for 2 meals. They said 10oz but it really felt like a whole pound! So much freshness and great texture. It's like they made it right next to the ocean in the islands. You get to even choose one of their special sauces, I always get the Sweet Wasabi. Man, I can eat anything with this stuff!! I dream about it and to put a ring on it. Its that good, trust me, thank me later!"
