Jenny T. "Gumba is a cozy Italian restaurant located in Portland, Oregon, one of my fave food spots that I visited! Gumba delivered. The interior was cute and aesthetic and each room had their own vibe to it. I loved the atmosphere Gumba had. As for the pasta, tagliatelle was my favorite out of the two I tried. The tagliatelle dish is made carbonara style with caramelized shallots, roasted seasonal mushrooms, burrata, sesame and olive oil. Shallots is a game changer for me, I love how aromatic and flavorful it made the dish! The pappardelle was good but a little bit too salty for my taste buds. The pasta itself was delicious and it had the perfect texture! The dish was made with braised beef short rib, toasted chili, garlic, olive, tomatoes, pecorino cheese, and bread crumbs. Yumm!"

Shannen R. "Stopped here for lunch while in town visiting a friend. It had a sports bar vibe. Full nice big bar. There were tables and booths for families. I had my baby with me so that's where we sat. The bartender/ server maybe it was the owner I'm not sure but he was efficient, friendly and didn't bother us too much yet didn't neglect us.We got the candy salmon, French fries and mac & cheese. All the food was great, came in big portions and was very reasonably priced. I would definitely come back here when I'm back in town or if I lived around here."

Martin W. "The church bar is always fun to be since you cannot miss their theme. Ok well I'll have to confess not on a Sunday since that karaoke night haha. But that's a totally different topic isn't it. I love the church as well for their food when you crave a small snack or an impossible burger. But also cause they always have some changing ice teas - so bring your sober friends have your beer or drink and then you can enjoy their alcohol free items. The barkeeper are always friendly and will find something you like. I had the upside down pineapple burger a special burger on the menu let's dive into a slice of pineapple fried in pancake batter, jalapeño's, pickles, cheddar Cheese, fried shoe string onions, bacon, beef patty with a raspberry chipotle BBQ Sauce on a toast brioche bun.Told you they are creative with drinks as with the burger Let's get this out of the way. Yes you can argue if pineapples belong on a pizza (yes they do) or not. But the church bar makes one thing clear there is no question a pineapple belongs on a juicy burger. This one has a spicy kick to it from the sweet raspberry chili jam the slice of the exotic fruit is making the whole burger a juicy experience and the crispy onions are giving extra crisps for texture and tastes. All in all a burger to enjoy. So perfectly made to bad it's only a special bit a very delicious one."

Flory W. "For Mother's Day early dinner, my family decided to take me (& their dad, hubby of almost 50 years) to an Italian restaurant nearby, but they don't take reservation, but they recommend to come early. We did, and the patio we wanted is 1 hour wait. (We could have gone at 4, to eat at 5, if we knew!) While waiting for the rest of my children (& grandchildren), oldest son suggested, let's walk around to see if there's another restaurant to go and be seated right away. And WE DID! Not only did we eat outside, on an 82 degree very nice very little wind in the shade, but we were greeted with a friendly (smiley) kind lady server, and beautiful too!I wanted the TAMARIND drink, (that was all I can remember), it has brown sugar, honey, & lime. (My youngest son knew I don't drink alcohol, anymore, but I told him, once in a few, and today is a special day, so I will). All the ingredients on my drink was appealing UNTIL I got to the Serrano (I knew it was a brand name, I didn't know Fuego means fire. (Until down the street from us, a car was really on fire, and I showed video to my sons, and they said: FUEGO! LOL). Anyway, I didn't care for my drink, since it was spicy hot! Every adult in my table, all took sips, and finished it all, but I was left without a sweet drink, and our very nice, lovely waitress gave me same drink, without the spicey Serrano. Thank you, I'm happy now! Each ordered what they wanted, hubby and grand daughter both had the hamburger, I and one son ordered the fried chicken and another son ordered the pork chops with mashed sweet potato (I am surprise for the first time, because he, my dad and I only eat sweet potato in our family). :)All's well that ends well. We could have stayed for sweet-stuff, I heard we're heading to an ice cream parlor, and visit some more.Note: I would prefer the outside, HERE, than the patio there! Sometimes, the Holy Spirit will guide you, where they think is BEST for today is a special day for all mothers!Amen?"

Mercedes C. "Alberta Pub in the King area of Portland is a corner watering hole hangout hosting a bang of a party until the wee hours of the morning. My daughter wanted to kickstart our Sunday as she'd gotten wind of Alberta P's Soulful Sundays lineup a while back and suggested we come during my short solo visit to Portland. Alberta P. has a dim, cozy feel with the bar area+stools and other tables around. My kid and I were here for the live music the next room over. This room has high stools, slender counters on opposite side and several hi-top tables front of the stage- with cymbals, decorating the walls. Grab a cocktail and settle in. The owner seems to be a legend in these parts who has been hosting and supporting the local live jazzy+Soulful Sundays music scene for a while. Come here if you wanna listen and jive to musicians zhuzh up famous jazzy and soul tunes. The Sunday my kid and I visited, the live band improvised their own schtick- but it also felt sloppy as the main singers ate up a bulk of the time stretching out the songs. At times, it felt and looked like they were cackling. Despite this, the singers had a powerful voice-especially the guy who sounded like El DeBarge. My daughter and I ended our evening on a high note in a dimly lit venue while a live band tinkled out sets of jazzy+ soulful tunes until late. Come with an open mind and you'll leave with your senses bedazzled in some fun- but interesting way."

Hannah W. "A quintessential neighborhood dive bar! Came here to say how amazing the burger is! It is the best-example of a classic burger - lettuce, tomato, onion, quality beef, and the most perfect cheese skirt one could ask for. You don't need ketchup or mayonnaise, it's that good."

My-O-My

My-O-My

Sarah C. ""Your favorite bar east of 82nd," is the slogan for My-O-My. The location at 8627 NE Sandy is not a destination you would expect. Parking on Sandy is difficult but pop behind the bar up into the neighborhood and there's plenty of free street parking with a short walk. The outside may not look like much (a few picnic tables on the sidewalk next to the busy street are not too inviting). But step inside and you'll feel like you're transported back to the 70s! A big sign overhead displays the cocktail menu and other drinks options. The long bar is backlit. The seating is delightful. Wallpaper covers the walls, pinball machines flash in the back, the pool table awaits, and a fireplace crackles away in the corner. Oh, and that outside seating out front that wasn't too appealing? Don't worry, they've got a super cute back patio! With a second location of the Monster Smash food cart serving up burgers. Check out their Yelp page for reviews of the burgers - short story, they're damn good. The cocktails at My-O-My are tasty. I started with "MOM's Grog" which is a fun name. I literally pronounced it "mom" which perhaps was not intended but I think it works well. Then I tried the Last Rites. Also good! (Prices aren't displayed on the overhead menu and I didn't see a paper menu, which I don't love. But I believe they were in the $11-13 range, which seems pricey but I guess is just what cocktails cost these days.)I'd be happy to come back for the cool vibes of this bar, and I'd be even happier if there were a burger+drink combo happy hour!"
