"It's not like I was always eating it but for some odd reason, I've been craving for teriyaki ever since I moved up. We stumbled upon this place because my bf's mom said it use to be something else so she wanted to give it a try. Pretty basic inside- no frills. Yannno, tables, chairs and a menu on the wall. No TV, no crazy decor or anything. Just the bare minimum. I called in and ordered the chicken teriyaki with a side of gyoza and it was ready in 15 mins. It came with 2 scoops of white rice, a good amount of chicken and a side salad ($7/8) 7 pieces of gyoza for ($4). Chicken was tender and juicy-- also it marinated and seasoned well. So well that I even forgot to drizzle the teriyaki sauce when I was eating it and then remembered. From what I remember, the gyoza was better there because it had a nice crunch to it vs taking it home but I still liked it. On a side table, it has all the sauce that you might want: sriracha, sweet and sour, hot sauce, soy etc. Looks like a ma/pa family restaurant. This was my second time here and the lady up front is always so nice and pleasant. The next time I'm itching for some teriyaki , this is definitely the place I'm going to!"
"This place is honestly pretty underrated - we went here on a Saturday dinner around 6:30pm aka supposedly prime dinner time and there were only 2 tables occupied. We got to sit in one of the nice hammock-like chairs and ordered 2 cocktails and 2 entrees to share for the 2 of us. We tried:Kyoto Fog - nice matcha flavor and the alcohol did not taste too strong. It was a nice touch to seePinkitini - very floral and fruity, light and refreshing drink with lychee but the lychee was not sweet at all (perhaps a bit watered down) for some reason.Million Dollar Shrimp Tom Kha Ramen - sooooo delicious! Coconut lemongrass soup with noodles that were just al dente and fresh shrimp. It is to no surprise this is one of the most popular dishes on the menuMoo Kra Tiem - garlic pepper pork. I do like the grilling of the meat and the spicy sauce, but the rice was way too mushy so that was a miss. This is one of their seasonal specials.Service is good as water refills were apparent and the servers were fairly attentive to take dishes away as needed. I would recommend this place if you want a place that serves good Thai/Korean inspired food and want a casual, not overly crowded dining experience."

"I was excited to see Bonchon here on the west coast. This pIace is legit for serving Korean Chicken Wings. The provide either a garlic soy or spicy gochugang glaze. We chose the half and half batch of wings. The double fry on the chicken wings made them so crispy! They cooked them just right so the meat was still juicy and piping hot. The glazes were a perfect mix of mild and spicy. They also give you a small container of daikon radish to serve as a pallet cleanser if you moved between the different flavors of wings."
"I like the food here overall, but the hours are strange. Many time when I've tried to come here they are closed. Their hours are scratched off the window, so there is no way to tell when they are supposed to be open. I have figured out they are closed Mondays. Also seems they close at other random times. Even though the food is decent, there are so many other choices for Asian type food in West Linn. Driving over here to eat and having the business constantly closed gets frustrating. When I am able to get in here to eat, the staff are sometimes friendly and other times somewhat rude."
"I haven't been the big ramen fan in my family, but that situation may not last. Our family paid a visit, knowing that I would be thrilled with the katsu chicken on their menu. Everyone else at the table had different ramen varieties, and the samples I tried of my wife's choice had me thinking about a return visit to try their signature dishes.Baku Umai is a casual space in a relatively new building, so the ambiance here is laid back, with splashes of local basketball and landmarks as decoration. Patrons order at the counter, and tables are well stocked with all the spoons, chopsticks, napkins, and anything else you're likely to need."
"This was an experience from the moment you step into the intimate space until the dessert is served. I savored every bite. The service was excellent and the staff so friendly they actually took time to get to know you and talk to you about your meal. I was impressed that they were able to offer me a substitute due to allergies. Although the pork belly was melt in your mouth experience leave room for the taro crème brûlée. The food was a full sensory experience that was unbelievably delicious. The drink menu was filled with great options as well. This is going on my list of great date night recommendations and was also a wonderful place for my dining alone evening"
"Beautiful ambience, friendly service, free parking! If you're an Asian non/vegan like me I'm afraid you'll think you spent too much and didn't enjoy the flavors. But if you're open minded, why not try it!Not busy at all on a Saturday for lunch. Walked right in.Spent over $50 for party of 1"
"I was crazing yakisoba noodles and rice time, located in wilsonville, came up in my search! Rice time is located in an unassuming strip mall with a private parking lot. I ordered the tofu yakisoba noodles! The portion was HUGE. I felt like the noodles were cooked perfectly. I have had yakisoba noodles that were either too greasy or covered in sauce, these were neither of those! I had to knock a star off as the photo included lots of veggies and what I got had zero broccoli and maybe two shreds of carrot. I prefer heavy veggies. Overall I will be back and will be asking for the veggies."
"This place is in a weird spot (very industrial and not much else around... in a small strip mall-like space) and is kind of like your regular Teriyaki joint... but that's where the average reviews stops.Every time we've come here (or had it delivered) the food is exactly what you want: hot, fresh and delicious! Oh, and also pretty damn cheap for the portion sizes you get!Insider Tip: The Hot Rice Special is a crazy-amazing deal. It comes with so much food, you could probably split it with someone or have extra for leftover lunch tomorrow (especially if you double the meat for an extra two bucks!) The egg rolls are huge, and the pot stickers are some of the best I've ever had. (I tend to be picky about pot stickers, too.) Another insider tip (which I don't think is mentioned in the Yelp description) is that they aren't open on weekends. (Bummer!) So get there during the week. It's definitely our go-to teriyaki take out!"
"Affordable for what you get and incredibly delicious! I got the chicken naco...the meat was so tender and the sauces it came with were A+. The covered patio has great vibes and the owner is super friendly as well. Def gonna be a new staple for us. Can't wait to come back!"
"Was in the area for work and Hamono came up high in my search for food sushi. I was not disappointed.I'd been seeking some great crispy rice for a moment and they definitely came thru. I devoured this roll. It was packed with delicious fresh ingredients. Also ordered for lunch was a salmon hand roll. OMG. Any lovers of fresh salmon would smash 2 of these in one 1 minute. I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch and planned on coming back but the stars did not align."

For a hole in the wall, this place does an impressively flavorful teriyaki lunch. Nothing fancy or refined, but a good and substantial meal for a reasonable price. The gyoza were good, too.

WHEN: Sat @11amCame here cuz my cousin with 2 little girls love it here and recommended we meet here for lunch. I can see why they love it here. It's lovely and well decorated with plenty of seating and cocktail options for adults to appreciate, and a play area for kids to play in. So being the first party to dine in, we were seated right next the play area!Since we wanted to do family style, we wanted to make sure we ordered dishes that the girls can eat too. Here's what we ordered:BEEF BULGOLGI BOWL - $18Korean style stir-fried marinated thin sliced rib-eye with garlic and onion and sesame over rice with sides of jalapeno and kimchi.Meat was tender but my partner thought the rice was dry. I thought it was fine overall, even though I'd dint eat much of it.CHASU BOWL - $18Japanese marinated pork belly, sesame, sweet soy glaze, chashu egg, pickled cucumber, fukujinzuke, scallion, rice.I thought this was good! The pork belly was thinly sliced and had a crispy texture to it that seemed to be because of the sweet soy glaze. It wasn't dry and jerky-like and hte flavors were good. Egg was well enjoyed and there was plenty of rice!LARB POKE TUNA - $18Ahi tuna, roasted sesame, gluten-free soy, shallot, scallion, roasted brown rice powder, peppermint, avocado, arugula, rice, spicy Thai lime vinaigrette.I thought this was just okay. The tuna didn't taste very fresh but my cousin who ordered this seemed to enjoyed it. EDAMAME - $6Something for the girls to eat with their rice. It was a large plate of them so $6 was pretty decent!SIDE OF AVOCADO - $3The 4-year old really enjoyed the avocado from the Poke Tuna so we ordered a side of avocado to get her to eat more with her rice and edamame. It worked. After the girls ate they went straight to the play area, where my partner kept them company while I had 1:1 time with my cousin. It was such a wonderful time. Food was overall okay, but I appreciate the space Buranko provided for people to connect comfortably, even with kids. I'm honestly surprised how empty this place was on a Sunday. I think maybe it's because they don't serve brunch items like waffles and pancakes like I thought they would. Just lunch items, but hey, they have a variety of drinks and like 2 options of dessert.

I came here again more recently after hearing about their "new" flavors (it's honestly been a while since they've introduced these, but it was just my first time hearing about it). Since they've opened they've only had the soy garlic and spicy flavors, however within the past couple months they added the yangnyeom and Korean BBQ flavors. This time, I ordered in-person and to-go. The order took about an hour to do, which was honestly a bit crazy. However, I ended up walking around the mall for a bit, so the time went by fast. I ordered the ddeokbokki, buldak, and half and half of the yangnyeom and Korean BBQ flavors. The sauce of the ddeokbokki was a bit too watery for me, but the rice cakes were nice and chewy. The buldak was good, but not particularly special. And, the wings were great. I love the addition of these flavors as it gives more options to customers and they each have their own unique taste. I would definitely come by more often now that they've expanded their menu a bit.

I am a big fan of restaurants that offer good food mainly to patrons in their specific neighborhood. Asian Kitchen is just such a place. I am a huge fan of the Tom Kha soup, which I get with chicken. You get to choose your own protein, as well as two vegetables. It is an ideal soup in winter or when you are feeling a little under the weather, but it is great when you are feeling well too. Other dishes that I am particularly fond of include salad rolls, the pad thai, yakisoba, and garlic and pepper pork (again, choose your protein). The owners are very nice, and I like to support them. You do have to navigate the open hours, however: currently (Feb 2022), no dine-in due to Covid, 3-8 pm Mon-Sat, EXCEPT closed the first Saturday of the month. And you may wish to call in your order, especially towards the end of the evening-- if business is really slow, there is no guarantee that they will not close the kitchen early. All in all, I am very glad that Asian Kitchen is in my neighborhood, and I am proud to support it.

What a great ramen option in SE Portland! Located on Hawthorne, Baka Umai is a cozy ramen bar serving unique soups that will warm up any cold day. The atmosphere is casual, with counter service and bar and table seating. They are known for their chorizo-men - a tantan pork broth with housemade chorizo, but offer other options such as miso, shio, tonkatsu, vegan, and vegetarian soups! They also have a page dedicated to spicy ramen, from mala to ghost pepper spices, definitely something for everyone! I got their special, a dirty tonkatsu, and it was good! It was a bit too salty for me, but the flavors and spices were unique and unlike other ramen I've had. Portions were generous and worth the price. If you're looking for a quick, unassuming, yet delicious ramen in SE Portland, Baka Umai is the place!

A cozy Thai spot serving unique royal thai cuisine with novel dishes like Chor Muang and Kratong Thorng. The space is on the smaller end so be sure to make reservation. Service was also on the slower side so do be patient. We got most of the appetizers to try and particularly enjoyed the Chor Muang and Chor Chaba. I would say they all tasted similar though with common ingredients and spices across the dishes. We split the Khao Mok Gai for entree and that was our favorite dish of the night. The grilled chicken thighs were very tender and juicy. Rice was flavorful, as well as the cilantro sauce. Next time we would do two entrees instead of a bunch of appetizers. We also tried both the desserts and the Taro Creme Brulee came out on top with decadent taro custard with crispy sugar top. The Japanese Cotton Cheesecake with Pandan was good too though! Lighter and less sweet.

Scrumptious food, cozy setup, and friendly service. It's better to have a reservation else you might be able to get a seat on the bar counter. Small food menu, but everything we tried was delicious. The portions size is good for an adult. The tofu main course was heavenly. I would go back just for that. Bao is inviting and my name is on it during my next visit. I would recommend them to everybody who wants to experience vegan food scene in Portland. They are definitely a wise addition.

I've been eating at Rice Time for years. The food has always been consistently good. Teriyaki chicken, Gen. Tso's chicken or shrimp, spicy vegetable, and others. It is prepared fresh and served in a reasonable time, although it's popular at lunchtime, so be careful if you're in a rush. Portion size is good. I usually have leftovers for tomorrow's lunch! Service has always been good and friendly. I've heard that they are being taken over by someone new, so we'll have to see if everything stays good in the future. The ambiance is nice, with a clean feel and welcoming. Nothing fancy, but nice, and some outdoor tables for the summertime. Calling in your order is a good idea, but sometimes they don't seem to answer if too busy. There are vegetarian options. It's hard to go wrong here, so give it a try!

"It was such a pleasure to finally get to visit this awesome woman owned food cart! Even my partner, who can be a tough judge, said that this was a stand out amongst food we have tried recently. I ordered the red sticky rice and the drunken noodle with tofu, on Jenny's suggestion. (She's the business owner!) Both hit the spot perfectly. They were big portions for the price, enough for me and my partner to share. They asked what spice level I wanted and I said medium, they clarified that their peppers were pretty hot, and since I've been liking spicy stuff lately I went for it - it was exactly what I expected and wanted. The cart is located in a cool pod in Gresham - there is indoor and outdoor seating, parking, and lots of great businesses. Wish I lived closer to come back more often. I took my food to go... my partner was lucky there was any sticky rice left to try by the time I got home :)"
"After moving to Vancouver from Hawaii, we weren't sure how difficult it might be to find tasty Hawaiian/local food. Lucky for us, there are a number of great Hawaiian/local restaurants in the area. That being said, Kiawe Island Bistro ranks at the top! Visiting Kiawe Island Bistro makes you feel like you are back at home, popping into a local restaurant after a day at the beach. Everyone is friendly and welcoming, the music is great, and best of all, the food is "ono"! I had the Loco Moco and my husband had the Kalua Pig. The flavors are spot on and the portions were generous. We look forward to returning and having dessert next time, too!"
"Tried this place out for the first time today. We are vegetarian so finding Thai food we can eat can be tricky sometimes. When I called to ask if the pad thai can be made without fish sauce the owner was very kind and offered to accommodate us. She did an excellent job - the food was great! We will definitely be back."
"I met up a friend here for lunch as it was a convenient spot for us. It's nice that they have both indoor and outdoor seating. The outside patio is nice. It is counter service, and once you order, you find a place to sit. I ordered the combo vermicelli bowl and also a roasted pork banh mi to share. I think I may have come here on an off day as the chicken and pork for my vermicelli bowl was a bit dry. The roasted pork was a bit dry, and the bread could be toasted a bit longer. I think having extra hot sauce would help, but they were all out and had whatever was left in the table. Again, maybe an off day, I'll have to come back again."
"My kid lives near this tiny take-out restaurant and gets dinner here every 1-2 weeks. She and her beau say the food is great and reasonably priced and the portions are huge. So we decided to get a few dishes tonight as no-one wants to cook the day before Thanksgiving (right??!). I went with her to pick up the meals. The place is small but really quirky and cute, with lots of plants and greenery. (I was surprised to read that someone complained about the plants in their review. Really? Who doesn't like plants?). And yes, the place felt cluttered, with the plants and the desk of condiments and chairs to sit on as you wait for your meals to be prepared. The place won't win any medals in Architectural Digest. But I thought it was quirky, and cute, and it is quintessentially Portland. (And when I was there, there was absolutely no odors in the place, as another reviewer wrote. If the place smelled bad, there's no WAY ON EARTH my kid or I would ever patronize the place!).And the food was great. We got my kid and her boyfriends' usual teriyaki beef and we also got orange chicken (both these meals came with rice), and also my kid's favorite yakisoba noodles (omg they are so good. I have no idea what seasoning they use, but these noodles are reddish in color and taste amazingly good). The portions are humongous and easily enough for 2-3 meals. We like supporting local businesses. And this one is great!"
"YES. Every single flavor on the menu with the OPTION for any protein?! Life changing. As a vegetarian I am so happy to have found this place. The crispy sticky sesame tofu was delicious and the fried rice here is the best I've had in a longgg time. Egg drop soup (made with vegetable broth!!) I devoured. Thank you for such a great menu that's full of options for everyone. I'll be back again and again. New favorite Chinese food!"
"I jumped at the chance to eat at HÂP Fresh opening day of their new Montavilla restaurant. Their Washington locations have been well-reviewed, and the owner has a stellar reputation in the restaurant community. Though this new location is situated in a busy traffic corridor just off 82nd Ave, I didn't have any issues finding parking. And what looks like a tiny hole-in-the-wall eatery from the sidewalk actually reveals a bright and spacious interior within. Let me cut to the chase... DUMPLINGS! DUMPLINGS! DUMPLINGS! I love Xiao long bao, Shu Mai, Bao, BBQ Pork Buns and any other tasty dumpling I can get my hands on. HÂP Fresh makes all of their dumplings fresh, so they deliver on flavor, texture and steaming hot deliciousness. My husband and I came hungry! We had been waiting all day to sample the menu, so we ordered a selection of dishes family style. I was impressed by how incredibly friendly and supportive the staff were in helping us navigate the menu. In fact, we never once felt neglected the entire time we were in the restaurant. Steaming hot dishes were delivered to our table, one by one, and the friendly waitstaff checked in with us to see if the food was to our liking. The XLB were perfection; juicy, delicious, and not too salty. My husband wanted orange chicken, which wouldn't have been my first choice, but I was amazed by the texture and flavor. The exterior had the perfect amount of crunch, and the chicken was moist and tender and oh, so flavorful. But the Shumai was what surprised me the most. I've eaten my fair share of Shumai in my life, and I can always tell when it's been frozen and reheated. That's not the case at HÂP Fresh! The dumpling exterior maintained a moist, tender, yet sturdy texture, and the pork within was incredibly flavorful. What a delicious surprise. I will definitely be returning to sample more dishes on the menu, especially during the month of December as they're offering a 20% discount to celebrate their grand opening. My only wish is that the dining room were a little more inviting. It's very white, the lighting is a little too bright, and the place could use more plants and art to add character. But in the end, it's all about the food... and they've got that covered. YUM! YUM! YUM!"
"Atmosphere: Very bright and decoratively lit atmosphere with a full bar and bar seating too. Really like the atmosphere for a Thai restaurantFood: Food was delicious. Everything we got was excellent. One of my favorite Thai restaurants in the cityPrice: Prices were reasonable for sit-downService: Service was pretty goodParking: Street parking. There's spots available near there"
"I just discovered this place and it is very nice. The food was all fresh and delicious tasting."
"Two people, 2 entrees, 2 appetizers, might have been a bit ambitious on our part but well worth the over full feeling after. Delicious with a capital D! A nice casual spot with fresh, timely (not too fast not too slow. Just right for a fresh meal) service. We ordered the lemongrass pork lettuce wrap with wavy noodles. It may sound silly but the noodles stole the show. All of it together was so satisfying though. The sweet chili chicken wings were crunchy and super flavorful also. Bun noodle salad with shrimp was gorgeous! And wontons in chili oil was quite decadent. So packed with pork and chive filling and silky smooth. Just spicy enough. Can't wait to overindulge here again!"
"This place is ridiculously cute as a button. Small, sweetly decorated and full of light. But let's get down to business - FOOD! They bring you out some little snacks & sweet and sour sauce to eat while you wait for the main event. The menu has lots of options from bahn mi, noodles and most in between. So far we have tried: - spring rolls, they come out how so looked out! Crispy and delicious- shrimp tempura, very meaty with light batter and a spicy sauce- fresh spring rolls, also very meaty with amazing peanut sauce- pad thai, this doesn't really taste like any other pad thai I have had but in a good way. The sauce is very light and the noodles are thin and chewy. The meat is always cooked just right BUT my absolute favorite is the Luc Lac beef. It is so tender and flavorful I could eat it every day and would if I could. Service is always polite and fast. My only complaint is we didn't find this place sooner."
"No frills here, and that's alright by me. Everytime you go, you HAVE to have the pepper salted squid if nothing else! We usually get vibes brocalli in garlic & oyster sauce & a bowl of rice, that's all you need! The PSS- IS ADDICTIVE, so don't say that I didn't warn you!"
"The sign at Rice Junkies describes my current feelings about Rice Junkies ... "Healthy Addiction". I'm a Rice Junkie Junky. I've been hitting up Rice Junkies for lunch quite often and have tried most of the menu by now. Whatever mood or craving I have, I can satisfy it with the menu at Rice Junkies. My favorite is the bimbambop wrap with egg, veggies and pulled pork. The Mexican wrap is also pretty fabulous with guacamole, cheese, rice and beans. Everyone who works here is really nice and friendly. Quick, tasty, and convenient."
"A food truck that serves baos! I love the breaking bad thing they have a lot of little accessories and props that go along with the show. I love the car so here it is super tangy. I thought the chicken one was a little bit salty. However, the beef one is a mustard flavor is so good and to put a little bit of the coleslaw on top is amazing. The ambience has other food trucks and picnic tables but we brought it home and made it, the service is great the people there are super friendly"
"Get your Korean-Chinese food fix here! But be warned: you might get sticker shock at some of the prices.I have been craving Jjajang myun (black bean paste noodles) and saw that this is the place to get it. We ordered your typical trifecta (also our waitress said that's what everyone orders haha) Regular jjajang myun, seafood jjambong (seafood noodle soup) and pork tangsooyuk (fried pork with sweet and sour dipping sauce) I will say that the food is really good and authentic here (given by the people we saw eating here while we were here) The noodles were chewy and flavorful, seafood stew with just the right amount of spiciness and plenty of seafood, plus the fried pork was freshly fried and crispy - ready to dip into the sticky sauce full of veggies. The service was quick and friendly and it was cool to see actual flames in the kitchen behind when they were cooking up the dishes. The inside decor, tables and chairs, the removal dividers seemed simple if not a bit outdated. I really was impressed by the food and we all really enjoyed our meal. However I do think the price tag (even given the portions) is a little steep for certain dishes - $35 for the seafood noodle soup? Not great. But with that said, I do recommend coming here if you get a craving for Korean-Chinese food. Please give them a chance!"
"Didn't get to dine in the space but ordered ahead for dinner on a weekend and only a 15-20 minute wait. By the time we came to pick up the order was already ready which was great! There were some spots in the front but driving around it looks like there might be parking in the back? Will need to check another time. | WHAT WE ORDERED | + Mongolian Beef + House Fried Rice + Chicken Lo Mein Noodles + Salt & Pepper Squid I saw the wontons & chili sauce and hot & sour soup on the menu so I have those bookmarked to try another time. For the above it was ~$60 with tip so not the cheapest Chinese food around but it can last two people 2-3 meals each so not too bad when you think of it that way. _________________All of the items were really solid to order! The squid came in longer/thicker strips but had a great crisp and was still crispy hours later. The house fried rice was seasoned well and had nice chunks of the various proteins and was not skimpy at all. The mongolian beef was your standard but the cuts were on the thinner side. Nice veggies and crunch but might try another beef next time. Lastly the noodles had me hesitant at first as they were on the lighter side but after trying them they had good flavor and paired well with the chicken. Overall $60 does sound pricey but the items were good and had nice portions where the price was justified."
