The first thing to say is that happy hour is from 4 to 6 PM and absolutely worth making time for. Walking into the space, the vibe is beautiful. Fantastic wallpaper that has the feeling of William Morris gone wild or jungle. Black and white film noir with Gene Kelly and other is playing on the screen and there is a black-and-white ink drawing of a recognizable actor in the corner complete with candles lit in vigil. We all had cocktails, mine was a chilled bar martini dirty with extra olives. And they really understood the assignment with the olives. Between us we had a dozen and a half Shigoku oysters from Washington state. And fresh grated horseradish was a bonus alongside the mignonette. The table favorite after the oysters were the deviled eggs. You have to try the truffle popcorn with the fluffy freshly grated Parmesan. That will disappear quickly. The service was attentive throughout our two hour visit. Matthew checked in regularly without being overly solicitous. Looking forward to returning again.Wonderful outdoor eating area that we didn't take advantage of this time but absolutely plan to.

Such a great new spot!Went for Friday happy hour. It was pretty quiet at 4, but lots of street parking and the service was spot on. We got the passionfruit martinis and the meat and cheese board. Both were delicious (the gastrique was all we could talk about) and already want to come back to try more of the menu. The outdoor dining is small but great for people watching.

Decided to trek way out in NE to try this place and I'm so glad I did! They have a nice, intimate indoor space and plenty of covered outdoor seating. And the service was excellent. Actually, beyond all expectations. There's a personal feel here. They gave me plenty of space to chill but I never felt forgotten. And they were happy to serve an off-menu drink after I tried a few of their own. I noticed they use Amaro in some of their drinks so that caught my eye. I had the Verhoeven and the Night of the Hunter. Both were excellent and I really appreciate the creativity in these drinks. I had to Google some of the ingredients. ;). And I stumbled on the Mai Tai before leaving. That was gorgeous :)The Pretzel was super tasty (ordered a second one because I missed a photo of the first!) and I could not help but overhear the folks next to me rave about the Popcorn! They also show old movies. I forgot how dramatic the conclusion to Karate Kid was! And, yeah, I should watch Life Aquatic again (that was Wes Anderson too?! Wow. And he's younger than me?! What have I been doing with my life?!). Such a cool place! On most nights they play music off vinyl so kudos for that! Definitely now one of my top three cocktail spots in PDX!!'And Kierre is brilliant!! I'm going to have to come back for her Garden Margarita :). Cheers!

Low key, modern, nice bar. There are nice cocktails, mock tails, devil eggs, and molasses cookies with a drink pairing. QR code for menu This place is spacious, with ultra high ceilings and big windows. However, it only seats about 20-25 people. 8-10 at the bar, a couple of bar height tables and a few regular tables. The ambience is dark, black, floral, modern, simple. The aesthetics is pleasing - not too feminine, not too masculine, not too simple, not too overdone. Street parking.

The night before New Years Eve, a group of us went here to pre-game a party we were going to. The snacks and drinks were delicious. We had the deviled eggs, salad, wrapped hot dogs and a dozen oysters. Kind of an eclectic assortment. All delicious. The vibe inside was dark, intimate and our server was friendly.

In Portland on business and decided to try this place. And I couldn't be happier. The bartender Matthew was friendly and knowledgeable with his cocktails. I don't normally order mixed cocktails but this was a cocktail bar after all. So I tried one of their specialty cocktails , the Cumin Behavior ,which I thought would either be good or terrible because it had some interesting ingredients like tomatillo juice and cumin? But it was really well balanced and was delicious! I was very surprised and would recommend it. The food menu was limited but both the deviled eggs and the mushroom toast were very well prepared and delicious! I met the owner, Kierra, she was nice and we had a good conversation. Overall, I had a great experience and if you want some great drinks and small bites I'd highly recommend this place. If I'm back in town I will definitely go back

Good snacks, good drinks, outdoor seating, next to a bunch of Vietnamese spots... sign me up, yo.Stopped over here for a few cocktails with in-laws before my flight back east. It was a good time. The indoor decor, though I did not partake, was pretty tight as well if that's something high on your list of things to care about.I'll be back whenever it is I'm back in Portland again.

Blank Slate really is unassuming from the street, but you're doing yourself a disservice if you don't check this place out! I probably say this too much, but love really is in the details. And there is so much attention to detail in this lovely neighborhood cocktail lounge. The stage is set for a stylish experience as soon as you walk through the door. The room feels very designerly with expansive green walls, extending high into the lofty space above. Lush foliage makes an impact through the use of terrariums and hanging plants, as well as the rich wallpaper with a leafy motif. Soft lighting and candles invite hushed conversation, and perhaps even a little romance. There are a number of expertly-crafted drinks on the menu, as well as a broad selection of appetizers including charcuterie and cheese plates. The bartender and servers are knowledgeable and courteous, and accommodating for substitutions and dietary needs. Food and beverage is beautifully presented, with attention paid to every detail. Even the ice cubes are shaped and sized with care.If you are looking for an intimate setting that feels classy without being overly-pretentious, Blank Slate is sure to please even the harshest of critics.

After rave reviews from the local community I finally had the experience. My Old Fashioned was perfect and the price point was fair. The owner/mixologist is happy to share her knowledge, I learned quite a bit about the nuances of cocktails while sitting at the bar. Unfortunately, I didn't connect with anything on the somewhat ample food menu. This is not their fault and many seem to enjoy the eats, it's more due to my peculiar tastes. The space is inviting, the outside doesn't quite look like it would house a cocktail bar. There's patio seating so that will be nice in hot weather. They are good for the neighborhood and I'm glad they're here.
