Overall I was not too impressed with the flavors of the food, but I was impressed with the quality of service, the view of the city, and presentation of food. I think is definitely an "experience" type of dining. I would suggest coming with a group of people as the main is intended as "shareable" and then they have a menu for two to share. They have a massive selection of wines. They offer zero proof cocktails and wine (skipped on the Cabernet Sauvignon and try the nonalcoholic sparkling wine if you want to try a nonalcoholic wine). The pricing is on the higher side. I am indifferent about the cost versus the quality.I tried the duck croquettes, pork belly, and lobster roll. Definitely try the pork belly! The duck croquettes were okay. The lobster roll had great flavor until the random curry flavor at the bottom of the roll and the bread was on the harder rather than softer side.

I came here one evening with my boyfriend and we just got drinks at the bar. Unfortunately, at the time we came (and it also might've been because we had bar seating), there was no meals and we could just order dessert or small bites. However! We had already eaten before and just wanted to try the dessert and drinks here. The interior is dimly lit and has a beautiful view of Portland (regardless of day or night). In terms of service, the bartender was very attentive and kind, and service was quick. We ordered their dessert, "Desert", and it was very interesting. The desserts (from what I've noticed) take a more artistic style and are fun to look at. The dessert itself was pretty good, but not necessarily something that I would order again. The drinks were also pretty good too, and they offer a good variety of cocktails as well as zero proof drinks. I would love to come here to try their dinner service sometime!

Cute decor with a nice view! I feel like Bellpine is a decent addition to Portland dining, maybe we came on an off day - but I wasn't blown away with the dishes. I am willing to try again though! I came with a larger party to celebrate a friend's birthday, I believe our group was 10 / 11 people, everyone ordered cocktails and it did take a little bit to get situated and start ordering which given our party size was understandable. Angie was our server and she did a wonderful job taking the order accurately and getting food out, as well as keeping drinks coming and was friendly to our larger party. Table ordered multiple dishes, some of what I enjoyed were the scallops and the carpaccio. The steak meal was underwhelming to me, the steak itself was just alright and I didn't really care for the sides it came with with the exception of the mashed potatoes. Overall we had a great time, next time I would sit in the bar and maybe order a few appetizers rather than do the full dinner. Thank you again to Angie for taking good care of us!

First time staying at the Ritz and booked the restaurant as a treat for the wife and my son here for an alumni performance. Not sure why the reviews are less than stellar. Everyone that greeted us from the bellhop, maitre de, busboy to our waitress was great! After all that is the Ritz experience they have to provide and we received. The food and ambience were first rate. Sadly the best window views and tables seems to be for only two and couples. The place is big enough they could mix it up a bit, but still we had wonderful NW cloudy views :D. The food was delicate, creative, tasty, no complaints. Cocktails were also excellent as was the dessert and coffee. We will be back!

Dinner at Bellpine was a holiday gift from my son. We went together and started in the bar downstairs - Meadowrue. It was quiet that evening so we sat at the bar and both ordered a mango cocktail with a smoke bubble on top. So fun! And delicious. The video shows one of us popping the bubble on our drink. For dinner we chose to share the duck Grand Dish which is served with roasted vegetables, marinated salad and yummy mashed potatoes, family style. The duck was carved table side by the manager. When I asked my son to pay special attention so he would learn to carve poultry, the manager slowed down and talked my son through the process. So kind. Everything was delicious. The restaurant has amazing views and perfect lighting. Now let's talk service. Each time I have been there, and it's been a few,I have been treated like a friend by every member of the staff. No kidding, every person - from the people watching the door, bar tenders and wait staff, hosts up in Bellpine, waiters and food runners - friendly, warm and considerate. Their term for it is 'warm hospitality' and that about sums it up. Their goal seems to be to make each customer comfortable. They knock it out of the park. Go there!

The Bellpine is located in the Ritz-Carlton and is considered their showcase restaurant. I made reservations through Open Table for a late brunch. I was unaware that we would be the last seating for brunch which became apparent due to how few people were there! I was a bit concerned because had I realized I wouldn't have booked the time. But my concern melted away because it was a very good experience. Our waiter was very polite and had a witty sense of humor. He was attentive without being over-bearing and just fun! We ordered all different dishes. I opted for a classic with a traditional eggs benedict which was very good. We shared a plate if perfectly baked pastries - they were delightful because they were scrumptious without being appetite ruining. All in all we had a great time!

I hope to update this review at some point on another visit, as one not-so-good experience isn't the end all but, yesterday's visit was just awful. Also, this review is just for the bar only.Came in with 4 friends, and yeah, it's a Saturday, so maybe another night would have been better, but a place like the Ritz, I don't think that should matter. Yes, the location and views are Nines and PCG equal or better, and the ambience and decor is stellar. And the dinner menu and photos look amazing. But, the bar food is less than dive bar quality in taste. Mac and cheese bites, Kraft-like. Sliders, dry with almost nothing on them. Dumplings, mushy, un-appetizing texture with what appeared to be tempura or crunchy bits on top, that were soggy and added nothing. Fries, over fried, good seasoning and flavor, but some were not edible and they went downhill fast. All, very pricy, which at this place is totally to be expected, but I also expected them to be good. Drinks, are of course great, but it's not hard to serve top quality wines and spirits. Service is what really put a nail in this visit. They appear to be very understaffed, which is understandable--as far as bar service, but there sure seemed to be a lot of folks doing a lot of nothing. Our bartender, which I will not name here, as it just seemed like they were having a bad, busy night, was very stressed which came across as extremely rude, but I don't think they meant for that to be the case. I think they just have some things to work out, and again, I will try again, and I'm sure this will turn out to be a great place. Oh, also kinda has an odd smell in the bar, like a sour, something is going bad somewhere kinda aroma.

I was relieved to see this place has an average of 3.3 stars. I didn't want to be the one to drag them but the Ritz Carlton really needs to bring it and they didn't. 3 stars to me is "fine". It was fine. The word I found myself reaching for during my late lunch visit was "corporate". It seemed like they took market research sessions on inoffensive color schemes, table settings, menu items and played it really safe. And that's fine. Ya know, the decor is fine, the food was ok, my drink was perfectly adequate. But it didn't shine, it didn't wow me, it wasn't remarkable. We found ourselves thinking at the end, 'I don't think I'll be back,' and it wasn't terrible or anything but you'd expect more (well at least I would) from a luxury brand like the Ritz. One area I specifically wished for more was their whiskey list. There wasn't anything rare, unusual or really even interesting. Maybe it's different with wine here but I'm not that into wine. As I looked around, I saw diners with wine, maybe this is more their lane, and not so much on cocktails. But for the Ritz, wouldn't you expect to get a cool cocktail? These were pretty predictable. It's the Ritz and all. But we're really spoiled in Portland. We have distilleries, wineries, really high caliber cocktail bars, really elegant and avant garde food and honestly Bellpine was just kinda meh. I had a pretty salad (it was artfully arranged) that didn't really blow my mind. My cocktail was fine but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. For $20 I think you can get better experiences, better drinks, better salads than this place. It lacked soul for me. No one did anything wrong but I think other places are more hungry, more charismatic, more striving than just this cash-grab of a place. If you're gonna present like a luxury brand, you gotta bring the experience. If you've been to Portland City Grill and liked it, you'll probably like this place. Similar vibe, the view is a big draw. There's valet parking in the garage and the hotel staff were all very friendly. For cocktails, I'd rather go to Fools and Horses or Mediterranean Exploration Company, for wine, I absolutely loved Heavenly Creatures and for food downtown-ish, I'm literally never disappointed by St. Jack. Bellpine has too much competition to make their entree into Portland with this level of mediocrity.

Don't sleep on the bar at this place! It opens at 11am and they have unique cocktails. The service is great and they have an awesome view. We've been twice and we'll definitely be visiting again.

Right away we are impressed by the views and level of taste in this restaurant. We made a reservation on their 3rd day open. First, we would give 5 stars for service! Everyone that we had the pleasure of interacting with was sincerely kind and demonstrated world class service. There was only one bartender that evening for the whole restaurant so we only ordered one cocktail and opted for a bottle of wine. The Butter Kiss cocktail was beautiful but would not order again. On to food. We were more interested in the For the Table section and Desserts. Our favorites are the Albacore and Wagyu beef tartare and the Geoduck Buñuelo to start. Favorites for dessert are Forest, Desert, and Coast. Edible pieces of art! Recommend saving room for dessert!
