Yummy!! Tried for the first time and was impressed! They accommodated our group of 12 without a reservation which was awesome! The restaurant is small but has a cozy feel like the muted lighting. The drinks and food were awesome! Had a clarified milk tea to drink and it was so unexpected. Light and refreshing, I had 2! We ordered the salad rolls (you roll your own, fun)! We also got the quail, rice cakes and soft shell crab. All of it was delicious and flavorful!Would definitely come here again!

I came here a while ago on a Sunday morning, and was grateful to have gotten a spot. I've come multiple times before that but was out of luck because they were already sold out. So, I highly recommend coming as early as you can to ensure that you can get a bowl of whatever delicious food they're serving! The inside is bright with lots of natural lighting but has limited seating in comparison to the popularity of the restaurant. When I came here, I got the banh it tran and spring rolls for appetizers and the specials of the day (banh canh cha tom & bun bo hue). I loved the banh it tran and thought that the BBH was also really good. I was a bit underwhelmed from the spring rolls and the banh canh as I found that they just weren't *satisfying* (ie. the banh canh didn't have much other than the fish balls). Overall, while I love their concept of switching up the menu and focusing on a different dish each day, I feel like if you wanted a specific dish (unless it's a really rare find in Portland) you could always find another place that does it better.

Arrived late night and wanted to try some of the daily soups but didn't know the soups are served only during the day time. The inside was cool with lots of seating and good vibes and music. Service was a bit slow with only one waitress for the entire floor both inside and outside. I watched for like 40 minutes as she moved around, disappeared but finally took our order. It was a waiting game. Tried the bot chien and Banh khot appetizers. The bot chien was super thin and over fried. There was no texture from the rice flour or tapioca starch. Some pieces were extra burnt. Only one egg that barely added any flavor to the dish. The sauce was tiny and not enough to dip each bite. Overall not great at $16 for fried flour and an egg. I've had it before at a different place and it tasted more like crispy potatoes (fluffy inside) with scrambled eggs. Filling and satisfying. Banh knot looked beautiful but wasn't crispy around the edges. Nice fresh herbs and lettuce but another $16 dish that was underwhelming. Came here for dinner and left hungry. Seems like a young crowd good spot to drink shots of henny but didn't satisfy. The young chefs tried their best but it was disappointing. Probably won't be back to try the soups in the daytime. Reminds me of luc lac before they went downhill in quality. Late night bar setup is a great idea but quality and execution are not on the late night menu.

Came by for the soft opening of Annam by Night which is their evening service only on Fridays and Saturdays. We tried almost everything on the menu. The foods were so flavorful and authentic--felt like I was back in Vietnam. My favorite dish is their durian creme brûlée dessert. It was the perfect mixture of custard and durian. The service was amazing. They were attentive and consistently checked on us to make sure we have everything we needed. The combination of great food, throwback music, and lively social scene made it a fun atmosphere

If it's Saturday , this must be Mi Hoanh Thanh . A soup with pork broth , dumplings and noodles . Absolutely the best soup for my lunch . I believe there is not one soup , on the menu for any day , that would disappoint . Home run all around . Staff LIVES to serve . Beverages are sodas and others . Didn't ask about tea . Not crowded inside . It's a great accompaniment to Rose , and Ha VL . And a great addition to Belmont street.

Somewhere I came across the recipe for Vietnamese beef stew, Bo Kho. It has cinnamon as a spice with a little tomato. So I'm trying it at restaurants before doing the recipe at home. Here they cook the broth for 4-5 hours. Then they assemble the dish with the beef, carrots, and wheat noodles. Chili oil, jalapeño, bean sprouts, basil and fresh lime come as a garnish. I ordered mine without the cilantro and raw onions on top. This is the perfect warming soup. Carrots in stews and soup are a natural sweetener. The beef was tender. The wheat noodles are very hot when the soup is assembled, maintaining the heat of the dish. The tomato flavor was just right, not overwelming. The soup is not cayenne spiced; there is chili oil you can add on the side.Portland loves independent small businesses. This is a family business with the grown children working front of house. They are very proud of their family and display some traditional figures he brought. There are some solid picnic tables outside and tables for 2 to 4+ inside. It is clean, new, and a welcome addition to close-in SE. The menu shows the soup schedule, there are many possibilities to try!

Well I'm not buying a t-shirt, but it was pretty good.Warning: Showed up just before noon on a Sunday and spent 15 minutes waiting to order before waiting another 20 for drinks to come out, all *before* the brunch rush actually started arriving. Not sure if they were unusually understaffed, or training, or what.

I ordered the Banh Canh which was very well prepared. The server gave us a run through of their menu options which changes each day. The vibes of this place is very homey and welcoming. Would recommend and will come back!
