Overall was a great evening at Portillos! We had a larger group and everyone's food came out right and delish. I do wish my chili dog had more chili on it but it was still so tasty and full of flavor. Aside from the one off shea blvd, this is the best one we've been to

We have never had a problem before, today went through the drive through, the line was long, the second lane was closed. We ordered our food then pulled up in line. We waited a while before we got our food. Got home the burgers were cold, the onion rings were overcooked and the fries were very salty. We ended up throwing over half of the food away. The only good thing was my chocolate shake. I hope things improve we go to the other stores with no problems. Thank youCeleste Samson

Lots of Parking and inside seating.Great friendly staff and decent prices.Nice menu lots of choices.Tasty Fried Fish Sandwich with tasty Tartar Sauce.Great Chicago Dogs.French fries were perfect. Crispy on the outside soft on the inside.The Italian Beef & Sausage Sandwich was Just Ok. Far from the Original Ones I've had n Chicago.Not bad for fast food.A solid 3 1/2 to 4 Stars.

This Portillo's just opened up about 2 months ago. Nice sized restaurant with all the colorful decorations and signage.I am happy that Arizona is getting some Chicago eateries. Our cashier was nice, friendly, and patient!Hot Dog (jumbo): Chicago-style hot dog with everything, which includes mustard, relish, celery salt, freshly chopped onions, sliced red ripe tomatoes, kosher pickle and sport peppers piled onto a perfectly steamed poppy seed bun. This brings me back to when I ate a Chicago hot dog for the first time. So good!Fries: Portillo's famous salty crinkle-cut French fries. Crispy, hot fries. Delicious.Strawberry Lemon Cake Shake: Their strawberry milkshake perfectly blended with a slice of their famous lemon cake. My wife dug into this, and I didn't get to take a pic.

I've only had Portillo's one other time at the Arrowhead location. I got a chili dog and wasn't aware it had a poppy seed bun, I don't care for poppy seeds. I never went back after that but since one has opened here in Surprise I decided to give it another try. During this visit, I asked if all the buns have poppy seeds and sadly they said yes. I guess poppy seed haters can just f*ck off then? Okay. So I got an order of the chili fries and a slice of the chocolate cake you hear so much about. Chili cheese fries were okay, they honestly didn't have much of a taste? It was weird, I should be tasting chili and cheese but it was just so bland! Fries were a bit soggy, they didn't seem to have ever been crisp to try and prevent the soggyness. The cake was the most disappointing part, especially hearing everyone clamor about it. It tasted pretty much like a regular box cake. I won't be back to try anything else. I'd rather get a chili dog/fries from Freddy's or Wienerschnitzel (or anywhere else) but I will say that they were efficient and friendly at this location.

Portillo's is an experience and has a following. This was the first time here. We went through the drive thru the day before the Grand Opening. The traveling trainer was helpful in answering questions asked of the new team member. We ordered the #2 which is 2 Hot Dogs, small fries and a drink. We also ordered a Spicy Chopped Salad.The hot dogs meal came out first. The drink was too full and running over. We asked for napkins to wipe the cup. One team member went back in for the salad.I enjoyed my salad. It's enough for two meals. It's super spicy. The house bread is delicious especially with the soft butter. My husband wasn't impressed with his order. He asked for no ice but there was ice in the drink. Attention to detail is key. Welcome to Surprise! I may try a burger next time.

Portillo's a mile from my house? Yes sir! Score!Super happy this opened here. Every once in awhile I get a Portillo's hankering. I don't mind driving to the other locations, but this is literally a mile or so from my house! I drove through, and got 2 dogs with everything except pickle, and a large cheese fries (my usual order). Staff was friendly, food was great, service was fast. Can't beat it. Always, and I mean ALWAYS fill out the receipt survey. You get a free large fries on your next visit. So with the coupon, you can get 2 loaded Chicago dogs and a large cheese fry for about $10.00. Can't beat that! I will be back often! Portillo's is so delicious!

First day opening, I'll be honest... a little rough! Family loved it!! It was a hit , unfortunately; I have allergies and it's difficult. First two items I asked about were not available; tamales and Barnellis) I ordered fries and a Chicago combo bowl (didn't care for it) and a chopped salad with grilled chicken. I have allergies and it was unexpected to find pasta in the salad... they quickly made a new one again with grilled chicken. Customer service was on it and amazing! Very friendly and helpful staff; even coming to the table to make store we are good! Love the Surprise decor; including the family gas station in 1936! That was an unexpected surprise!

Our party at five had the best dinner ever! We ordered the chili dog, two Italian beef sandwich's, two Italian beef sausage combo. I chose my extra gravy on the side so I could control it. Loved it that way. The pepper add ons are worth it-- totally kicks it up. The beer is served in a frosty schooner. So refreshing. Looked around us, and there was a spoon on almost every table which says something. This place was hopping and now I know why. Had that Chicago taste.Enjoyed the employee hospitality, very positive and upbeat.

This Portillo's is a welcome addition to Surprise. The staff is great and the food is consistent. One complaint that I have that is not exclusive to this portillos is that their hot dog buns are soggy. I love the chocolate cake.
