Move over Marie calendars! There's a new kid in town and it won me over! Went to a shop next door when my friend and I spotted pop pie, drew us in straight away and man! We couldn't resist!!!! The location is good, though good luck with parking! Upon walking in the little restaurant is so cute! So many details well thought out throughout. They have a beautiful display case with some desert and snack pies, and it all looks amazing! To order you can get hot pop pies or frozen ones to eat at a later day! Super convenient! I ordered three of the hot pop pies to go, my friend got some of the frozen ones and the famous salted caramel apple crumble. I had already had my sweet fix so I had to hold back. But she said it was amazingly delicious! I got all 3 of the chicken because I was a little weary of trying something I hadn't before, while some of them looked appetizing I know it would've been a risky move with my teens. And chicken is a safe bet. Well safe it was!!!! The top crust is flaky and well seasoned. The chicken filling was also well seasoned with rich flavor! Just kinda wish that it has a bit more veggies but good nonetheless. This is a meal in itself. On another time when we have more time to spare I want to come back and try some of the other pop pies they have in their menu. Service was quick and easy, the person helping us was very kind as well, keep up the good customer service with this great food!

We got 4 - 5" pies.Green hog and cheese - braised pork shoulder. Tasted like a chimichanga. Aussie meat ($11) - lean minced beef tasted like ground sweet beef.Steak & Ale ($12) - lots of carrots and mushroom making the steak bland of the veggies, needed sauce. Classic Chicken ($11) - Chicken, carrot, peas, and onions - white meat , dry, needed more rouxWe also got mashed potatoes ($11) with gravy. You can add a slice of pie for $3.50.

Came down to San Diego to watch the Padres play, and we wanted something small to eat before heading to the stadium. Pop pies had such a variety of pies to choose from. We got their classic pot pie, and the crust was very flaky and the filling had so much chicken. The parking is hard to find since they don't have a parking lot, but the place is easy to find as located on the corner. It was a quick service type of setting. Once you order, they have the pies hot and ready to eat. I would definitely come back to try something sweet and a different pot pie.

Had the honor to try Pop Pie at a rugby game, to which I had the Aussie Meat pie, my absolute favorite item from the menu. I'm much more of a savory person so I didn't quite like the Key Lime pie. The hog pie is my second favorite, followed by the chicken. The crust is to dieeeee for! Super uber flaky and flavorful. I'd recommend for your first time to get a savory pie and a sweet pie, you will absolutely not regret it...Customer service is superb and the shop is cute and petite, great for a quick lunch run. One of my favorite places to get comfort meals!

First off, try the desserts they're delicious. I enjoyed the chocolate chip walnut cookie (highly recommend the cookie for a sweet treat) with my New Orleans Iced Coffee. The New Orleans iced coffee had a nice flavor and I appreciated it not being bogged down in sweetness. The chicken pot pie was good classic. Personally it wasn't anything that stood out, but good if you're craving a chicken pot pie. The crust was cooked perfectly. I thought about trying another flavor, but decided to test out the classic. It wasn't busy on a late Monday morning, so I had the pleasure taking my time in deciding what to get. They have cute decor and some cute merch.

UPDATE.I come to Pop Pie about once a year - pie day. I should come more often as I really do like the shop. As of recently they now participate in TGTG and their surprise bags are (3) small containers of sides. Sometimes I think I love the sides more than the pies - don't shoot me for saying that! The three I received on my first surprise bag with them: Mash potatoes and sweet corn. So delicious! I was satisfied just eating their sides. Until the next review...

Pot pies, along with mashed potatoes and mac and cheese, are probably the ultimate in comfort food. Interestingly, you cannot find pot pies easily (the old chain, Marie Callender's was big on them, but good luck finding those restaurants any more). Even more interesting, this pot pie shop is less than a mile from the San Diego Chicken Pie Shop, which has been making simple but excellent pot pies for about 200 years. The pot pies here at Pop Pie are very, very good and are much more gourmet or at least far complex than the ones at the Chicken Pie Shop. They come out about two seconds after you order them. The crust is a dark golden brown and I feared they were overcooked but they weren't. They know what they are doing. We tried three different ones: The Green Hog and Cheese, the Classic Chicken, and the Steak and Ale.The Green Hog and Cheese is, I believe, the most popular pie here and for good reason. It's got a very interesting blend of different peppers, pork, and cheese. It's excellent, very flavorful, and really not too spicy at all.The Classic Chicken is, well, just fine but not all that interesting. The Steak and Ale was very nice. I didn't like it as much as the Green Hog but I enjoyed it. The crust on each pie was excellent. One pie should be sufficient for most appetites. They kindly allowed us to do a half portion of the mashed potatoes (very good) and the creamed corn (it was ok). The potatoes had a very pleasant dumpling consistency. There is plenty of seating inside and a little bit of counter seating outside.Their sweet pies looked amazing but they don't have ice cream and Stella Jean's is literally next door so you have some dessert options.Well worth a visit.
