We'll drive over an hour to eat here. Authentic Mexican food is hard to come by. Service is good and prices are reasonable. This restaurant is out go-to when we come into town.

I moved up from Texas and this is one of the few places I eat that is close to home or similar to Mexican food. The service is always nice and their drinks are on point! Mmm mmm mmm! I do not like the flour tortillas but I will enjoy the corn tortillas with their carne asada! That is the dish I go for when I go there. I love the decor inside and it is usually pretty busy on a weekend or happy hour. If you want good Mexican food for being in Washington state go here!!!

This review should have been a whole lot better, but do to multiple missteps by this business, I have to remove some stars. I was in the general area today, May 5th and decided I would celebrate with a Mexican meal. I reviewed the menu and reviews ahead of time and was excited to come in. I'll start by saying this could have been the friendliest staff I have ever encountered. On occasion you encounter someone who truly appears to be joyful, but everyone here was jovial. Issue# 1: The Menu. I was here around noon. When I asked about the lunch menu they advised "Due to the celebration, they were serving dinner all day". Obvious money grab. I was going to try the Carne Asada, which I believe was $16, It was $25 on the dinner menu. I didn't plan to spend dinner dollars or consume a dinner portion, so I chose the enchilada/chalupa combo. Rice and beans were delicious, and the enchilada was small, but tasty. The chalupa didn't impress. Almost no meat and the flavor was weak. Ask me, a little guac and sour is standard with chalupa's, but I think the budget here was too tight to make this meal memorablem at least in a positive way. Issue 2: One basket of chips. A basket is pennies of tortillas, charging for a refill is cheap. I'm from California and on top of chips and salsa, you meal comes with chicken and rice soup in the winter and fall and a garden salad in Spring in Summer. I miss that. The red salsa wasn't bad, but it had zero heat. I asked if they had something spicy. The server smiled and said he had a habanero salsa. That salsa was tart and had less heat than the red. It was a 0/10 on every level. Worst excuse for habanero salsa anywhere. Old El Paso is probably 10x tastier and everything they do is trash. Issue 3: Payment, the system defaulted to a 25% tip. Are you kidding me, after forcing me onto the dinner menu at lunch and providing me with portions not worthy of a dinner meal, you want a healthy tip? Sorry. Service was really good and half the meal was tasty, but with three significant strikes, be thankful for 15%.I'm nowhere near here and never broken bread in the area, so I am less than likely to return, that said, I do hit the outlet mall a time or two a year and despite being a couple miles away if I'm craving Mexican, I'm rolling to Las Margarita's or something else between there and Seattle. I was robbed of my intended experience and for no other reason than to exploit the day for a few bucks.Mexican food is inexpesive to make, so stop being cheap, it's a bad look to anyone that knows the industry.

I am going to start this review by telling you that when I review restaurants, the service MUST be as good as the food in order for any restaurant to receive a good review from me. I have been to this restaurant several times over the past two years since my aunt moved to Marysville. The food is always excellent. The service has gone down hill in the past year. I have been here at least three times in the past year, (possibly more) and have consistently received horrible service. I could go on and on, but I am just going to give you the last experience I had which is my reason for logging into Yelp to write this review. I came here on Monday night, (February 19th) around 7:30pm. The place was pretty busy. Most of the tables were occupied and it was quite loud. We were seated immediately but not greeted by the hostess. Our waitress came to take our orders after about ten minutes. I started to order my food as I was not really thinking about a drink at the time. Jenny, (our server) rudely informed me that she was only taking drink orders. Okay fine, but no need to be so rude. I ordered a banana daiquiri, my aunt ordered a strawberry margarita, and my other aunt ordered the house white wine. The drinks came right away and my daiquiri tasted okay. It definitely tasted like banana, but I tasted no rum or other liquor in it. Mind you, I DID NOT order a virgin daiquiri. She then asked to take our orders. I ordered the shredded beef tostada salad, my aunt ordered the three chicken enchilada combo, and my other aunt ordered the deluxe burrito. When my food came out, I immediately noticed that it was not what I was expecting. When I have had tostadas at other restaurants, they are a large round shell that goes around the sides. Apparently, a tostada salad at this restaurant is flat. That is fine, but there only seemed to be lettuce on the tostada when there should have been meat, cheese, sour cream and guacamole as well. It is possible that it was underneath but if it was, you could not see it and it did not look appetizing at all. I told the waitress that this is not what I wanted and asked her to see the menu again. It turned out that what I wanted was a "taco salad". She took away my food very quickly and came back with an attitude. These are her exact words that I am typing next, but also note that she had a very malicious tone and looked downright angry. "In the future, ask me what you are ordering if you do not know what it is so we do not have to waste food". I just looked at her with shock and disbelief because I could not believe that I was being treated so rudely for asking for something else. She acted as if I had ordered a $30.00 + meal. We all know that taco salads and tostada salads are probably one of the most inexpensive items on a menu. I just bit my tongue and went on with my night. She brought out my taco salad quickly and it was very good, but it left a bad taste in my mouth because of the way I was treated. She then came back and asked us if everything was okay WHILE WALKING BY. She did not even stop to hear what we had to say. She was already two tables away before my aunt looked up. The only time she was nice and professional is when it was time to pay. NO SURPRISE THERE. She obviously did not know that I was the person paying and took a couple of swallows when I told her I was paying... obviously knowing that she was not getting a tip because of her rude service and attitude. She took my card, ran it through her handheld machine and walked off once it was approved. She did not say thank you or anything. The sad thing is that I did give her a $10.00 tip because I felt bad but she did not deserve it and my aunt ended up giving the bus girl the rest of her tip. Needless to say, even though the food was good, I won't be back. No one should be treated that way EVER. My aunt also had an altercation with the manager a month or more ago and she will not be returning either. We will not be back unless we order to go due to the service.

Not bad, but not great either. We came for cinco de mayo and we were seated right away! I loved the nachos but I wasn't really impressed with the tortilla soup. Maybe it's bc I haven't had tortilla soup like theirs...Is Tortilla soup supposed to be spicy? I usually can handle spice but I guess I couldn't do it last night. I had to sip it slow for sure. Maybe I didn't read the description of the soup thoroughly but avocado, with thick tortilla strips and chicken, especially with the spice really overpowered the soup. Next time, I'll stick with my gut to get flautas, however my bf is helping me to not eat so much hahaha. He had the trio enchilada dish. I had the tequila sunset and that was strong! I was a bit tipsy afterwards which is expected on cinco de mayo. Would I come back? I'll order something else other than the soup. A unique spin on it for sure!

A solid 3.5 stars for me! The parking lot is large, so there shouldn't be any issues finding a spot. The decor inside is very welcoming and makes you feel like you're no longer in WA for a moment. There are tables and booths with music playing and TVs hung around the restaurant for extra entertainment. My friend and I came on a Sunday afternoon and was seated promptly. Our server came by and got our orders and placed chips, salsa, and refried beans on our table. The refried beans were good with the chips. The salsa had a bit of a good kick. It may be too spicy for those with a sensitive spice pallet. Mind you, on the menu it states that you get one complimentary chips and dips. If you would like more, you will have to order. I ordered beef enchiladas while my friend ordered the carne asada. Our food came out very fast. I think a little too fast. Had me a little uneasy for a moment. I cut my enchiladas to find out that it had ground beef instead of shredded beef. Maybe it was me and I should have asked, but I just assumed, and it was just okay. My friend's carne asada was very well seasoned and portions are good here. I also had an horchata. It was alright. It was sweet, but not dirty so I concluded it was made from powder. At least it tasted like powder. The service was good overall. Restrooms were clean. Prices are very reasonable. I wouldn't mind returning for another experience.

We used to got to Playa every Friday for about 3 years. Loved the food, drinks and staff. Unfortunately they raised their prices 3 times in the last year we went there. Got to the point where they priced us right out of their business. Too bad.
