This was my second time going to this restaurant and I tried their volcano mala hotpot instead of the make your own mala Hongtang. Glad I had a chance to try it. It was really good! Flavor was just right for me with good amount of vegetables. Also their guabarou which is the crispy fried pork sirloin in sweet and sour sauce was really good. I enjoyed the food more than my first visit. Can't wait to go back! We walked in at their busy time but staff was attentive. Service was good overall. Food came out fast. The music was bit too loud but liked the up beat.

Spice Spice BabySpice Spice BabyAll right stopThis was my intro to mala soup and I'm a total baby when it comes to spicy. I was a little nervous to try level one, especially when they said I should order level zero (for children). Thankfully, they mentioned that there is a level 0.5 and for this spice baby, it was just right. You start with an enormous bowl and tongs and fill with veggies, mushroom, noodles, etc. This will be weighed at the register (they noticed we were confused and explained the process). You choose either soup or stir fry (stir fry starts at level 1 so I didn't even go there) and can add ramen/udon and if you want meat (beef/lamb). They bring out your ginormous bowl laden with broth, meat and your add-ins. I enjoyed the broth, it was steaming, a hint of spicy heat, and the amount of meat and veggies were just right. I also added ramen. My companions thought the broth was too salty. There was a nice selection of add-ins including several kinds of mushrooms, different noodles and iterations of tofu. I think next time I will be more adventurous and try the stir fry (level 1). I thought this was fun, and being able to select my ingredients, and a steaming bowl of soup on this frigid day was perfect. Note: this restaurant is in the Glenview Commons strip mall and the drivers were crazy this afternoon (especially by Kong Dog) driving past cars that were waiting for parking. There are spots by the daycare (reserved parking Monday-Friday only).

Excellent! Totally hit the spot with the mala soup, loaded with veggies! It's kinda like Mongolian stir fry where you pick your ingredients, spicy level and they make it for you. A lot of interesting ingredients to picked from. The soup is soooo flavorful while the stir fry also had its kick and uniqueness. This is a Korean chain with outlets in the west coast, and this is their first expansion in the Midwest.

3.5 stars. Decided to try this place because I love mala spice. You can to choose whatever ingredients you want. You can customize however you like bbecause they charge per once. After choosing your ingredients you can choose between a soup or stir fried option. While the server recommended the hot pot option, I couldn't go with it because I want to try their mala stir-fry option. My dish had the numbing taste but the flavor needs some improvement. a tad more seasoning would have perfected it. Next time, I'll try soup-based options. With that being said, their server was nice and the restaurant is clean.

This was my first time having Mala Hong Tang & was it delicious. It is a make your own soup Korean style soup and you can order the level of spiciness. I went with a level 1 spice & it was really good. The servers inside were super friendly and very helpful. I would recommend checking this place out if you are in the area. They even gave us a sample order of some sort of pork cutlet with a sweet sauce on top to sample. They said it is coming to the menu in 2024

This place was absolutely amazing! I loved the pick your own toppings (veggies, noodles, proteins). And what's great about this place is that you can actually choose to make it into a stir fry or hot pot. Our table tried the 1 and 2 spice and the spice 2 is definitely spicier haha We also got the Guobaorou, a deep-fried pork sirloin with sweet and sour sauce. I loved the sauce on top of the crispy fried pork, the crunch was great.I'd definitely come here again and it's a great place in the north shore to get hot pot if you don't want to go all the way to Chinatown.

Wow, you guys have to try this place it is so amazing. I was wondering where all the protein options were because they weren't in the bar but they have it underneath the counter of everything that they have. I got some brisket it was really really good the protein options are processed meats in the bar spam the fish balls, but they have a really good variety and pretty good price. Excellent fried potstickers we got the number one stock which was a little spicy. It has a pretty good amount of heat though. Definitely come here I'll be back I'm coming.

New restaurant in Glenview. You pick ingredients and they make soup or stir fry for you. It's delicious. Food is fresh and the process is fun. Staff is very friendly. I ordered spice level 3 which is great and definitely has a kick. The Korean pancake is yummy too! I went in for lunch and it's nice and quiet. A little pricy but worth trying!

This was very good on a cold winter day OR any day. I was looking for a Korean style mala place ever since I went to one in Korea but sadly the closest one was in NY until this placed opened up! The service is still getting settled in as they are fairly new, but the staff are friendly and are flexible. It seemed like they were still ironing out the logistics on how to efficiently serve people.Food wise it was very delicious! The mala tang and mala stir fry both really hit the spot. I recommend that you don't go too crazy on the portions. Pick and put in what you love because it really does fill you up!
