I and a guest returned to the Pittsfield Cafe for lunch today. The service was prompt and friendly and not too surprisingly they had a full house. Food was delicious and I am sure I will return. The building does seem to be occupied and I would love to see the units. The signage to the ADA restrooms is now well-lit as is the staircase to the downstairs. Thank you.

Overall: 3.3Service: 5Food: 2Value: 3Entree(s): midwestern scramble Our server was great. Attentive, friendly and even brought us over an extra iced latte that he made by accident. The food came out really quick so we were in and out in less than 30 minutes. However, I don't think I'll be coming back here. The quality of the food was pretty poor; no flavor and not very healthy. $20 is average for a breakfast in the city but you can find places that are much better for the same price.

Pittsfield Cafe is located in the lobby of the Pittsfield building. Even though the lobby is elegant, there is also a feeling that the building has been deserted. The cafe is a standard diner. They don't make substitutions and the food isn't anything you can't get somewhere else. The servers are attentive and food came out quickly.

It is a great option if you are looking for a place that does not have a wait in downtown Chicago which is difficult to find. However, we had to wait a while for our order to be taken. It does look a little creepy inside as there are no windows to be seen, but it is a hidden gem. The taste is very bland overall but would be willing to go again to try other items. They have a wide variety of both sweet and savory dishes.

Came in for late breakfast or early lunch a few days ago. Got a coke and spicy bacon cheddar skillet. The food is good diner food. I think what makes it special is that it's a restaurant in a skyscraper. Sometimes on the news they interview people in diners. Think it would be neat if they interviewed customers in here and listened to their thoughts on topics of the day. The skillet has jalapenos in it so you get little kicks of spice but it's not overly spicy.

The "Pittsfield Cafe," as the name suggests, locates in the Pittsfield Building. However, where is it at? My co-worker and I were looking for a "sit-down" type of breakfast join but an inexpensive one. We googled it and found this one on the map. We were trying to find the place along Lake St. and almost missed it! The building itself was surrounded by scaffold. It didn't look abandoned yet it was quite inconspicuous. "Pittsfield Cafe," nevertheless, was legit. Perhaps this would be a hold-in-the-wall for some people. I wouldn't say it was for me because everything was held together just fine. Their menu was beyond "extensive," from typical western breakfast items to burgers and to pasta. Everything was priced fairly for the city standard. I kept it simple and ordered "steak and eggs." It was done correctly in my opinion. The steak was somewhat chewy. I expected that since it wasn't anything fancy and I just wanted some hearty protein in my diet. My co-worker received a generous amount of cheesy grits. It was a side order! The server and busser continued to top off our coffee, iced tea, and water. For those who would like to sit in the "patio," there was none outside. It was extended to the actual restaurant and at the open space inside the building atrium. That area had too much echo, so it would be good for solo diners. My co-worker and I talked a lot (gossip??), so we made a right choice to sit near the kitchen. For those want to be economical yet love to enjoy some unlimited diner coffee and breakfast like a good American does, check "Pittsfield Cafe" out. I won't recommend driving and coming from anywhere far. If one happens to be in downtown Chicago and feels hungry, I believe it will be a pleasurable experience by coming here.

I was looking for a reasonably priced place to grab a bite and hide from the rain, so my brother and I found ourselves in the ornate lobby of the building where Pittsfield Cafe is located. I love the setup, with the diner itself being quite small and tables spilling out into the lobby as if you're dining al fresco. We were sat "inside," which was almost unbearably warm due to the lack of ventilation and the kitchen exposed to the dining area, and promptly handed menus with expansive breakfast, lunch, and dinner options.I opted for the Santa Fe skillet, which has a hash brown base followed by grilled peppers, onions, fresh jalapeños, sausage, and pepper jack cheese. Skillets are served with three eggs of your choosing on top. Overall the food was just...bad. My sunny side up eggs still had raw whites on them. The hash browns were totally white and had no crisp to them. The whole dish lacked any sort of seasoning whatsoever--not even salt and pepper. My brother wasn't impressed by his sandwich, either. The service was polite and attentive, but they desperately need to find a cook who enjoys breakfast and knows their way around a spice rack.

I got a Reuben and the corned beef was way too fatty for me. So that was a real disappointment. The soup was cream of chicken rice, and it was clearly milk based but also kind of thin. Like they didn't add flour or cornstarch or some other thickening agent. There may well be folks who like it that way, but unfortunately I'm not one so that too was disappointing. Most of the meal ended up abandoned.I might be willing to try it again and get something else, or do breakfast. If I was in the area, that is. I do work a few blocks away but with so many dining options it's pretty unlikely I'll stop in here again anytime soon.

Old school Greek diner located inside a building downtown. You walk to the center of the lobby and the diner is there. Large breakfast and lunch menu with regular diner items and including a few Greek items. I ordered a veggie burger with fries and my partner ordered a chicken parmigiana sandwich with fries. We ended up drinking a Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary was ok nothing special. Our food arrived very quickly and looked OK. I'm not sure what I expected but the food was not great. The fries were not good and the veggie burger was extremely boring. My partner said the same. We kept wishing we had gone somewhere else. Overall service was OK, cool old school diner decor but the food was not good. You can do better at any place nearby.
