Cool interior.Food was "OK". I guess Italian family style food is highly subjective. But I was not a convert to their recipes.Waiter had no polish. I do not need or want to to be fawned over, but act like you are glad I am there. Little things like give me a pen that works from the start when I go to sign the bill..... nothing major- just little things.Would not say no if someone I knew invited me. But would not initiate the idea....Too many other place to try.

My husband's family is from Southern Italy, so I can verify that the food they serve is very authentic. Very tasty! Our server was amazing. And what fun it was to walk around and look at all the unusual artifacts in the room.

What a great place. Visiting town and man oh man we are so glad we found this gem. Told to us by our waitress Judy still makes the pasta by hand with her daughter in law. The food was outstanding. I had the ricotta pasta with sausage. Sausage so good!! The stuffed mushrooms were amazing, meatballs were light and fluffy. Tiramisu was excellent. Service was really good. Nothing was rushed and we enjoyed every second of it. Hand leftovers and was super happy to feel like I was having a second amazing meal today for lunch!

Truly incredible experience! We had the Rolantini di Melenzane and Stuffed Mushrooms for starters and the Linguine di Contosta for my main course. Everything was absolutely delicious! Also, the salad was amazing with the freshest crisp greens. The cannoli were also some of the best with the perfect crunchy shells. The eclectic dining room was very unique and the service was friendly and welcoming with the owner also checking in on our table. Planning to go back again as Zarra's is a true Pittsburgh hidden gem worth visiting!

Ordered eggplant, got chicken burnt Romano. Sautéed mushrooms, bland. Stuffed mushrooms stuffed with dry breadcrumbs. Spinach frozen, no seasoning. Super pricey. Pictured manicotti for $25.

Amazing experience! The owner served us and was so hospitable and kind. Made us feel at home. Made us a Baked Alaska at the table. It was just a top notch experience and the food was delicious.

Went to Zarra's for the first time. I had met their manager at an event, and he recommended the food (of course)! So I went and I was not disappointed. Very thick slices of italian bread came with olive oil and spices. I don't know what spices were used, but the taste was unique and delicious. We started with the banana peppers stuffed with sausage and topped with marinara sauce. Everything, including the sausage, is homemade. They were really tasty, and you could catch bits of fennel seed in the sausage. Yum!!! The marinara was smooth and not too bright with a hint of sweetness. My entree was the Italian sampler with lasagna, large meatball, sausage, spinach, and eggplant. Everything was very good and a pretty large serving. Had tiramisu for dessert. Will definitely come back again.

I took a chance and tried this place after seeing just a 3.8 star rating. When my party arrived, NO ONE was there! I thought I had made a mistake, and would be waiting a meal. We sat down anyway and tried to make the best of it. The menu was old, but had some interesting dishes. I decided to go with the rack of lamb. It was VERY tasty! So much so, I had to ask the one server why nobody was there. He said it's a family restaurant, and the original couple had died, and his uncle took over. Some patrons stopped going once the charm of his grandparents were gone. Every dish ordered was Fabulous! Great sauce! Nice olive oil! Sausage was homemade!Try it out! You won't regret it!

Absolutely delicious homemade Italian food, with a storied past. Great atmosphere - we enjoyed every bite, and we learned that the host and owner Johnny was the impressario behind of the most storied punk rock music venues in US history, The Electric Banana, in the very same location.
