We came out specifically to have an ice cream soda, like you might have had in the 1950s. What we got did not come close to our expectations. The vibe, however, is great and they have a lot of other options. Service was also friendly and fast. They also have their own parking lot adjacent to their building which is a plus in Millvale.

Yetter's Candy is a family-owned and -operated candy maker and retail store that first opened several decades ago.Today was my first time visiting this store. My first thought was that the store did not sell many candies, but then I looked more closely at the shelves, and I saw many chocolates that looked tasty! I saw chocolate-covered almond barks, cashew barks, raisin clusters, peanut clusters, coconut clusters, nuts, buttercreams, cherries, turtles, caramels, peanut butters, potato chips, pretzels, etcetera. This store also offered other businesses' treats such as candy bars, tootsie rolls, licorice, gummies, ice cream sandwiches, and even pierogies. This store also had a small restaurant area with seats and booths. The menu listed sandwiches, soups, ice cream sodas, sundaes, and milkshakes. My husband wondered about the "braunschweiger" sandwich. I asked the two employees what braunschweiger was, and an employee replied that the meat is made out of liver, but the teenaged employees could not operate the meat-slicing machine. I selected four small containers of chocolate-covered turtles, cherries, raisins, and pretzels. The total price was $39. The employee processed my payment, put my chocolates in bags, and thanked me.At home, I ate the chocolates. The turtles did not appear to contain much caramel, but all of the chocolates tasted very good.

I was in the need of some candy for my valentine.I decided to try somewhere new.I decided on Yetter's Candy.Descent size store with a large sitting counter.I got some dark chocolate covered pretzels and some dark chocolate covered caramels. The pretzels where good and fresh. The staff where friendly and helpful. The only negative for me was that the selection was pretty bad. They hardly had any selection at all.I probably would not go back again.

I live for mom and pop stores like this! The bell rung as we opened the door and I immediately I was taken back to 1950 which coincidentally was the year Yetter's was founded. There's a lunch menu full of sandwiches and salads and then a soda bar menu including floats, milkshakes, and sundaes. Before I continue; they have a cup of coffee for $.80...how cute is this?!?! Anyways, I got the Caramel Nut Sundae was not disappointed by the rich and cream vanilla ice cream, thick caramel, candied nuts, and fluffy whipped cream. They were out of cherries : ( but it was still delicious nonetheless. I'll be back to try more flavors and treats. Oh and maybe snag some chocolate, because after all, that is what they're known for.

I was killing time while waiting for a Yelp event to start in this neighborhood so I thought I would stop in here for some ice cream. Yetter's is a friendly place where I learned they make their own candy. They have a sandwich board as well. Prices are very reasonable for everything including the sandwiches. I did inquire about the ice cream however. They used to make it in house but since Millvale suffered from a major flood years ago they have it brought in from Ashby's in Michigan. I asked if I was allowed to sample and when given consent when with the lady's recommendation to try the amaretto cherry ice cream. It contained real cherries and chocolate chips and was her favorite. I only wanted one scoop in a bowl and was floored by the size of the ice cream! Needless to say it was just as good as she said. Real cherries and real chocolate chips. For around $3.00 you can't go wrong here. I was glancing at some of the candy they made since they had just brought out chocolate covered pretzel pieces. It was tempting but I knew I had enough with that ice cream. In addition to their own candy which either comes in boxed packages or in different shapes, you can get your traditional cheap candy here like you would at the grocery store or a store specializing in kid's candy. I would have liked to have purchased their candy to take home but with my event upcoming, I knew it would melt in the car. Therefore, I held off for now.For a hot day this ice cream was refreshing and I was pleased to have found a nice shop in Millvale. Metered street parking is available for a nominal fee. This is definitely a must return for me to check out their candy and maybe grab a sandwich.

I went to this candy shoppe before hitting a concert at Mr. Smalls and had myself a halved Braunschweiger sandwich. On white bread. With lettuce, tomato, American cheese, and mayonnaise. At a candy shoppe. You see, Yetter's isn't just about the candy -- they're a diner and an ice cream parlor as well.I asked an employee at Attic Records where Frank's Chicken & Pizza was but caught sight of this quaint throwback with its frilly red awning and silver pencil-eraser seats.I walked in just after 5PM to get some candy and saw a menu board,"We only have cold sandwiches at this hour," a server said to me. So I ordered Braunschweiger. Hey, I can get ham anywhere. Mashy with a livery flavor, it recalled pate, jumbo, hot dogs, bologna, and scrapple simultaneously."Didja like it?" The server seemed worried that I wouldn't. "Not too many people order that." I stifled a belch and said, "I must have." My plate was empty. Also had was a cup of a chunky, creamy, sweet potato salad, and a titanic hot fudge sundae capped with a crunchy chocolate chip cookie that had been cut in half. My total for all of this food, including a tall can of Arizona Fruit Punch? $8. "Whaddya yinz think of all these rock-and-rollers coming into your neighborhood?" I asked. "Hey, yinz keep us in business," she replied. On Yetter's I have a...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VgFnOMprpAP.S. I'll have to get back and try some of their candy.

Great milkshakes, lousy service. 22 minutes for a ham and cheese sandwich. I could have made lunch for the whole staff in the time it took for 1 sandwich
