Woah, I dont think anybody else has reviewed what this business has become here in the last couple weeks. They are crushing it selling quality meats, veg and such to the general public and it looks like they are doing it in a safer manner than any grocery store I've seen.I took some of the chicken feta and spinach sausages, gave them a real quick sear in cast iron and then a light drizzle of olive oil wrapped in tin foil. Basically a confit/braise. It was a beautiful thing. The leftover cheese fat was borderline life changing drizzled over some roasted potatoes. All the sausages and cheeses have been amazing so far. Some of the meats I know are the same things that places like Burgatory and Morcilla have sold. Not sure what all other restaurants they were selling to until recently but it seems like a lot. I havnt grabbed a veg box yet, but plan to on Wednesday. It looked like the people in front of me got that and oat milk. I guess that's cool for the vegans, but not my thing.Anyhow, all in all I'm super stoked about this service and will be using it extensively for the foreseeable future.

I really wanted to love this place. But the customer service is so terrible. I have my CSA delivered here so I've stopped in many times before I actually came into shop. I figured they were unhappy with the CSA arrangement and that's why they were not exactly pleasant the few times I came in. But I stopped in to shop when I wasn't picking up my veggie box and they were as cold and unhelpful as ever. I wish businesses like this realized that customer relations are everything. And when you have a store filled with interesting and obscure foods, you should be ready to answer questions. And being nice retains customers way more than being cool. I asked if they ever did a wine and cheese thing and the hipster behind the counter looked at me like I was nuts and said they didn't served wine. I later went looked on their website and saw that they do a beer and cheese type thing! I really can't say what that was about. The most foreboding thing about my interactions with these guys, they were extremely cagey about sharing where their meat comes from. The guy behind the counter told me 2 or 3 farms in Butler. Most people are gonna need more information about the farm and it's practices before they're willing to lay down 600 bucks for a 1/4 of a cow. Buying a side of a cow is way too localvore for them to not be open and honest about where the meat is coming from. And how it's raised. I asked him if the meat was organic, he said no but they follow all organic practices. And still he didn't tell me that name of the farm[s]! Weird. I'll stick to buying my meat at the East Liberty farmers market where I know the name of the farm and I can look the farmer in the eye. Try it if you must, but don't say I didn't warn you.

Thank goodness these great guys set up shop in Lawrenceville, and thank goodness I was lucky enough to stumble in. The selection of cheese is impressive, and they know their local foods thoroughly. I can't help but love that we heeled out for 30 minutes over great mushrooming locations, cheese making, and cider production. Worth a trip. Only complaint is that the selection could be better.
