Truly unique - cafe by day, speakeasy by night. Tucked behind a bookcase, you will find a dimly lit but lively bar area with creative cocktails. Their various cocktail menus (at least 5 alcoholic and 1 low ABV or zero proof) are posted in used books that are scattered in various seating locations, giving off a library vibe. There is a cocktail lounge on the second floor with couches, cushioned lounge chairs, and a fireplace. Very cozy area if you have a larger group or just want a more intimate setting. Order at the bar and a server will deliver upstairs. The cocktails are unique and very smooth - you hardly taste the alcohol. It's a little pricey for a drink ($15-$18+) but with the addition of fresh herbs, garnishes, hard-to-find ingredients, and syrups/liquors that are made in-house, the quality is definitely worth it! This is a step (or two) above any cocktail you could make at home.

Best speakeasy in the burgh, hands down! Especially if you're a bibliophile like myself. Enter through the bookcase and prepare yourself for a fabulous night. The vibes are excellent, the cocktails are tasty and potent, the glassware is beautiful, and the service is impeccable. Check out the upstairs room for a cozy date spot!

Thank you Cynthia for being a great host! It was a slow night but Cynthia, the bartender, made a drink for me before closing (I got in late. This bar is a very classical speakeasy with a bookshelf as the door. The inside space is pretty cozy with cool decor. Definitely gives you a hidden vibe. The drink I tried was the Purple Rain, a very light gin based drink with brilliant coloring. It's definitely more on the light and refreshing side. Overall a great bar to visit!

Unspeakable just release their five new winter cocktails last week so I had to try them all over the span of two visits. They're all incredible but the Strange Lands with the house roasted sunflower orgeat is so unique and my favorite. As always, the ambiance is so cozy and charming. Word is starting to get out about this spot so it was a little busy the last time I went but any wait is worth it!

Unspeakable, the newly opened speakeasy tucked away inside Ineffable Ca Phe in Pittsburgh, is a hidden gem that promises a delightful escape into the world of Asian-inspired cocktails. During our recent visit, we had the pleasure of sampling a selection of their creations, and we were thoroughly impressed. The cocktail menu at Unspeakable boasts a range of unique and flavorful concoctions. The Sesame Haze caught our attention with its innovative use of sesame oil-infused whiskey to craft an intriguing Old Fashioned variant. The result was a rich and aromatic drink that was both captivating and delicious. However, the star of the show for us was the "50 Shades of Phat," a cocktail that brings a delightful element of surprise to your taste buds. Infused with yogurt soju and featuring a fruit flavor that changes daily, our choice of strawberry was a delightful twist that added a refreshing sweetness to the mix. It's a drink that keeps you coming back for more, especially if you're a fan of unique flavor combinations. While the service at Unspeakable is commendable, it's worth noting that they are currently in the process of building up to a full opening, which means they may be slightly understaffed. Nevertheless, the dedication of the staff to provide a great experience shines through, making it understandable and forgivable. The ambience at Unspeakable adds to the overall charm of the place. We opted for the cozy upstairs space, which felt like a private lounge exclusively for our group. The intimate setting, dim lighting, and stylish décor created the perfect atmosphere for sipping on these inventive cocktails and enjoying good company. In conclusion, Unspeakable is a speakeasy worth seeking out in Pittsburgh. With its unique Asian-inspired cocktails, cozy ambience, and understanding of the challenges of a new establishment, it offers a promising experience. If you're looking for a memorable evening filled with creative libations, Unspeakable comes highly recommended.

This is our second visit to the speakeasy. This is hands down the best in Pittsburgh. I know that their is another speakeasy in the city that is in the strip district. Trust me it has cool vibes but not like this place. This place is smaller in scale and better by a lot. When you arrive, you enter a small room, their is a book case and you have to open the case in order to get into the secret speakeasy. When you walk in you will see a small bar, small seating. We went around the corner and up the steps to the upstairs which is small, comfortable but very awesome upstairs. We got to meet Phat the second time here. He told me to never believe what Kenyan said about him (funny) from the distillery next door. Super nice guy and down to earth. This place is special and one of its kind in the city and around the area. Can't wait to come back here it's incredible.

This is such a beautiful speakeasy right in Pittsburgh. It's located inside of Ineffable Ca Phe. The bartender was extremely kind and friendly. She gave us a menu but said that if nothing jumped out, we could tell her what we liked and she would make a drink for us. I honestly forget which two drinks we ordered but both were soooo good. I don't think you can go wrong. They have two floors, which is nice. We will definitely be back. This spot is perfect for a nightcap!
