Yelp led us here for breakfast and it lived up to it's great reviews.Our server was helpful, efficient and nice.The food was delicious and large portions.as well. It really is like stepping back in time and for us it was a great trip! If we are ever back in this area we will make sure to stop in again!!!

Really great diner. Got the mess with steak and corned beef for breakfast and it was terrific. The rest of the table really enjoyed their meals, as well. Service was on point and we never had empty cups.If traveling through Altoona on way to/from Penn State, Tom and Joe's is a super alternative to fighting crowds at State College on football weekends. Four of us ate breakfast there for less than $50 and we ordered a ton of food.

This place is a must go if in the Altoona area and you want an old school vibe and a traditional breakfast. It makes you feel at home, the food there is great. You can't go wrong with really any of the selections, it's nothing fancy. It's very basic and straightforward but done very well. Would recommend highly.

Love the atmosphere!! Definately old school diner. Best home fries you will find anywhere and I always get the Greek Omelet. Waitresses have been there forever and have great personalities

What a cute place! Driving through and didn't want a chain restaurant. Atmosphere is great; very nostalgic. Home fries were crispy and flavorful.

1st visit, food and service was excellent. Buffalo Chicken Omelette was Great. Love the ambiance of the place. I will be back again.

My husband and I decided to take a date day! We started off with breakfast. We have never been here before and everyone tells us about it. So we decided to go! Mannnnnnn soooooooo glad I did! What a old timing diner feel, which I love! The food was fantastic and our server was on point. The owners have a comedic side to them so if anyone can make you laugh at there establishment, then there my kinda people. Also the fact they have Joe Biden sticker there gave me even more of a reason to love this establishment. In all seriousness you NEED to have breakfast at Tom n Joes you won't be disappointed!

Fresh ingredients well prepared. Reasonable prices, some on low end. Waitress did her job but was less than welcoming.Fun authentic diner

Classic American diner that puts a very subtle twist on traditional favorites. Our table of four was seated promptly although the restaurant was busy on Saturday around 11 am. Capable and friendly staff were quick to bring coffee and water to the table and engaged with us (but not too much!). The food arrived hot, well-plated, and generously portioned. If you're looking for eggs, bacon, pancakes, french toast, home fries, or a great sandwich with fries, you WILL NOT be disappointed. If you're on a mostly plant-based diet, you'll find few options, but there's nothing wrong with pancakes, oatmeal, and a side of fries. Just own it and no one will judge. Ample parking on the street or behind the restaurant, pay at the counter. The tables, booths, and decor are showing their age, but that's exactly the point--I wouldn't change a thing. Thank you for a great meal.

Meatloaf sandwich is 10/10. I've been getting it since I was a kid and it has reminded amazing. Staff are hilarious and welcoming. I also recommend the mess and the milkshakes and pretty much everything else. Never had a bad meal there!
