Beautiful inn. All check in/out was done over the phone and via text. Would've preferred an in person greeting upon check in for an added personal touch and to be shown around a bit. Main room downstairs is lovely and my room was beautifully appointed. Lovely older well maintained home. Wish my stay had been longer. Would definitely stay here again. Only suggestion is to replace remote for fireplace as it was faulty and cracked.

My wife and I had a great weekend stay recently. We checked in late on a Friday night with no issues, as clear instructions were left for us. The room was great and the fireplace was perfect during the snowstorm. Kim was great and gave us a quick tour of the house while passing by. Restaurants, bars, shops are all blocks away. Grocery store is close by too. This hotel has the amenities you would expect, but if you need a 24/7 concierge or room service, this might not be the place for you. If you're looking for a clean, quiet, stay in a place with great history, check out Thistledown.

Stayed here overnight while passing through town and wanted to just love the place but it seemed to fall short in many ways. Things we liked, The house! Absolutely fantastic. Very clean, decor was as if we stepped back in time, but with up dated added convenience's. Coffee and tea just outside our door, fireplace, even a old claw foot cast iron tub.Things we wished were different. When we arrived and tried to enter through the front door but found the gate locked and we were told we would have to go around back. Once around back we found a phone number to call. As we were standing there someone happened by and let us in. We check in and we were told about the restaurant being a separate business and shown our room. A few minutes later we wanted to ask about the locations of restaurants and where and if they had ice but the person was gone. We went downstairs but couldn't find anyone around except the restaurant staff who didn't know. I then went out to the car to get the suitcase and found I was locked out and my room key didn't work. Walked around front and after begging to get through the front gate, I found the front door locked and pretty sure I heard snickering behind me from the restaurant employees. My phone laying on the bed, I had to borrow one from a person walking by to call my wife to come down and let me in. We then settled in and wanted to ask about the WiFi and the code but again couldn't find anyone. We went out to dinner and came back to find the keys didn't open the rear door. After about twenty five try's we finely got in. The room was a little warm on our return so we opened the windows only to find the restaurant had tables set up outside right under our window. The talking and laughing was so loud that it was hard to even watch TV. Checked out the next morning and again found no one at the desk. Are we done, is anything owed? Did you want to check the room? Where do I leave the room keys? The house had the potential to really be a great stay. But kept coming up short. Such a shame, it really was a beautiful home.

Oh my goodness, could this place be any cuter? First time staying at a B&B and I gotta say...they have set the bar sky high. The rooms are so clean and pretty, and the beds are divine - my husband has never slept in until this morning! Bathrooms are totally updated and spotless and the rooms themselves have thick walls so you don't hear whoever is staying in the room next to yours. And the cherry on top? Dog friendly! The owner is fabulous. So gracious and attentive to her guests - running her yarn store from the first floor, as well as overseeing breakfast in the morning. The only two reasons I did not give this place 5 stars is because when I first arrived to the property, no one checked me in. I wandered through the first floor before grabbing my own key and hauling my things myself. Not the best way of being welcomed. The last reason is due to the noise last night. The location is great but we're surrounded by bars - LOUD bars. We wanted to sleep with the windows down but the bands playing down the street didn't let that happen. Overall a great experience! Would recommend that you stay here if you're in the area.

This is listed under Bed & Breakfast on Yelp! but it is NOT! We came down for breakfast at what appeared to be a B&B when we booked. In fact, it USED to be. according to the owner. The change was "A long time ago". Apparently, a long time ago is earlier this year. One of the staff tried to lie and say it had never, ever been one. After the owner already said it had been. ??? They also claimed the home page said this. (It doesn't). Same person claimed it clearly says it is an Inn and does not include breakfast. (Nope again) Sadly, we were the second guest in the same morning to have this issue. The staff is very kind and clearly has had to deal with this before. SO disappointing to pay the highest rate in the area to deal with this. $200/night for essentially, an AirBnB. There is food but the kitchen seems to be a separate business. Not sure. ???? Dealing with this cost us half of a day for a family event. We checked out immediately and went elsewhere. Would NEVER stay here.

This is a gorgeous mansion in the heart of Ligonier. Warm and inviting, this is the quintessential B&B. Main Street USA is right outside the front door of this place. Awesome.I had never really noticed the house in my many visits to Ligonier. But this time, my friend's house was overflowing so he booked me a room in this gorgeous bed and breakfast. We checked in kind of late on Thanksgiving day, so I felt like a schmuck knowing I had interrupted post-feast football. I had to call the owner/manager at home. But he came to give me the room in about 5 minutes. He had the keys ready and showed me to my room. I kept apologizing but he had no problem with my showing up so late -- the phone number was posted on the window for late check ins.The rooms are quiet and well equipped. The private bathroom is large, clean and comfortable. The bed was a little bit of heaven. Breakfast was in the main room downstairs that has multiple small tables, couches and chairs. Your choice of anything on the menu is included with the room. I had oatmeal because I had eaten myself into a coma the day before. The oatmeal was rather good. There is a large parking lot around the back of the building, keeping the front lawn open to the small town American Main Street of old Ligonier. It is a perfect slice of history...the snow is falling outside and as much as I dislike cold, I'd love to spend a month here.

ThistleDOWN....thumbs UP! Had a great stay here over a wedding weekend. The rooms had all been renovated and equipped with the latest in amenities (Wi-Fi, DirecTV, air conditioning, etc.) The proprietors were super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. If you're staying overnight in Ligonier, just stop looking....book Thistledown.

I stay here every time I come visit from California. A total of 5 times I think. It's like my home away from home. Adam and Michelle are so accommodating and I couldn't imagine staying any place else. Cozy rooms, really comfy beds, upgraded Kohler fixtures in in the bathroom, but still maintaining the charm of an original 100 year old mansion with things like the original beautiful wooden window sills and frames. I usually stay in room 203 which is the largest. My second choice is room 202, slightly smaller but just as lovely. It has a beautiful stained glass window in the bathroom. There's always coffee and tea available and a huge porch with tables and chairs to enjoy it on. Yummy goodies at the cafe too! Stay here! You won't be disappointed.

First real visit to Ligonier and our first stay at Thistledown. We coincidentally ended up arriving at the conclusion of Fort Ligonier Days. Enjoyed a stroll up and down Main Street and loved the ability to head back to our room to relax afterwards. A perfect location just a block away from the square and all the shops and quaint local restaurants. Our room was just as described and very nice and very spacious. We were unfortunate to wake up on a Monday morning when the restaurant was closed, but found a great local diner for a good breakfast. Would definitely recommend choosing Thistledown for your first or next visit to Ligonier.
