The Soul Platter Cafe is a great place to go to enjoy a delicious and fresh meal. The service is exceptional and the dining room according to my daughter is "really neat" because of all the lovely decorations. The place is small but it feels very upscale. I also love that you can get a meal if you can't afford it, pay the suggested price of your bill, or pay it forward for someone else who can't afford a meal. You can tell that the chefs who make the meals put their heart and soul into their food. Right now they have very limited hours but it's so worth checking out!

I had an excellent Turkey cranberry brie panini and a beautiful orzo salad with fresh microgreens. Too full to eat more so I order the ham chowder to go.

This place is absolutely amazing! The food is terrific and the volunteers are so nice. Plus, dining there helps people in need. There is no downside! Currently they are only open on Friday & Saturday. I'm hoping as their volunteer base increases, they will be open more often. I love how the menu is always changing. You can sign up on their website to have the menu for the week emailed to you! When I first went, on opening day, I had no idea what to expect with a "pay what you can" restaurant as this is the first in our area. But they have nailed it. We always pay at least double our meal cost and it's still less than most restaurants in our area. This place is a must visit if you're in DuBois!

The Soul Platter Café not only has fantastic food, but a FANTASTIC mission. They are a non-profit where all people, regardless of their circumstance, can receive a healthy meal. They are NOT a soup kitchen, but a fully-functioning café serving food with as many local products as possible. The Soul Platter Cafe is a "pay what you can" business, meaning individuals and families will be served with DIGNITY and will not be turned away if they don't have any or enough money to pay for their meal. Their meals are paid by individuals willing to "pay it forward" and make an extra donation when they dine. The café team trusts that expenses will be covered by generous people donating extra money when they dine. The Café runs on hospitality, love, and a willingness to get to know our neighbors. They envision a location where folks from "all walks of life" will gather around a table and get to know one another.
