The Slippery Mermaid

First impressions were great... immediately I was greated by someone and seated pretty quickly. The sushi choices were amazing. So many different options it was hard to choose! I ended up with the land and sea roll, the bucco roll, the hot mermaid and the kickin chicken. It was all so darn good. The place was super cute too a small but adorable little area. I loved it. Super quaint. I will totally be back!

We went here with some friends recently who were craving sushi. We'd never been, but this was a place they had been wanting to try, so we were happy to come along for the ride. Unfortunately, it wasn't a great experience--just meaning that the sushi was not that great and therefore felt overpriced. The rice seemed old/dried out and the rolls were small. I wish I remembered what we got--so many of them had mermaid in the name so when I just went back to look at the menu I couldn't be certain about what I got...basically, it's not awful sushi, I've just had better for the price point! The staff were all friendly and helpful and kept drinks filled, etc. the restaurant was clean and we had a good time with friends despite the food not being our favorite :)

This place is so pretty inside! Highly suggest having date night here. The waitress was so attentive and nice with our party of 7. The sushi rolls are so big and filling! The chicken/steak rice bowl is so flavorful. They do offer veggies I believe but they opted out. We ordered shrimp tempura, slippery mermaid, fiesta and a poke bowl. I will be coming back!

The Slippery Mermaid always delivers! Great food and great service each time we've been. Especially love the outdoor dining in the warmer months. We will continue to return.

The Slippery Mermaid restaurant serves appetizers (e.g., edamame, miso soup, and seaweed salad), bowls (e.g., shrimp tempura and yellowfin tuna poke), lots of sushi (e.g., cucumber, eel, octopus, scallop, shrimp, salmon, tuna, and even meats such as chicken and steak), and non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages. Customers may dine in, get takeout, or order catering.This restaurant appeared to have only nine tables total, so when my husband and I arrived after 4 PM on a Saturday, we had to wait 30 minutes for a table to become available. We used our phone cameras and a barcode on the table to access the menu. After 10 minutes, our waitress approached us and took our order. After 35 minutes, the waitress brought out our foods.I ate the Summertime roll (salmon) and the Crab roll. My husband ate the Triton's Tuna roll and the Bucco roll (seared steak!), and he drank an unsweetened tea. Each sushi entree consisted of eight pieces and tasted fresh and flavorful. My husband commented multiple times that he had not previously seen steak sushi at other restaurants, and he appreciated the opportunity to eat steak sushi here.Our meal cost $68 *plus* tax and tip.

Sushi is sub par. They are really the only spot in the suburbs west of the city to get sushi so you're kind of locked in to one option here. I have eaten take out here as well as dined in for both lunch and dinner on multiple occasions. There is nothing too special in regard to quality of the food or the dine in experience. Service is consistently slow. The inside of the restaurant smells like what reminds me of a sports bar or college bar. It always smells of bleach/cleaner and stale beer. Drinks are served in plastic cups. Serves as a quick fix to a sushi craving but not my first choice.

Great quality fish. Some of their rolls are really out there. I don't love kani so would probably just stay away from the fake crab next time but everything else was great

Good but pricey! I got the poke bowl. Husband got 3 specialty sushi rolls. Service was great. We went around noon on a Thursday

Very average place. Service is awful with very average food. I don't believe it is very clean in the kitchen.

Best sushi around! Creative rolls, always fresh and delicious. Cool and relaxed ambiance.
