After an exciting morning at the Carnegie Museum, we decided to grab a bite to eat in Oakland. The Porch at Schenley was a brief walk away and we've never been. When we walked in we grabbed a few menus to look over and ordered at the register. Water was self serve which I liked. I ordered the grilled cheese and tomato soup. It was sooo good, absolutely what I needed to fuel me through the rest of the day. I tried a bit of the truffle burger and it was to DIE for. The bacon jam was the total star. It kinda felt like a bit of an upscale panera.

We arrived to an almost empty porch OH porch what happened? we came for your Valentine's special menu that looked so yum on the gram we are handed the menu knowing we were already going to order the first a ceaser salad and beet salad salmon, chicken piccata the creme brûlée and the tiramisu because we had seen it on the gram yikes no creme brûlée no tiramisu but ok we will will have the salmon and the chickenwaitress was friendly enough at the order taking offered cheesecake and chocolate cherry bread puddingso the salads arrive the beet salad with feta and olives truly delish the caesar was just okour meal arrived in good time Sadly the chicken was just ok , the noodle portion not very generous nothing like the picture the salmon even worse , almost no taste small portion slight resemblance to the ig pic but no sauce just a dry portion so we were hungry ate about half but stopped it just wasn't good plus no revisit from our waitress till she brought our dessertscheese cake looked pretty , it was creamy not dense it wasn't blow away but it was ok the bread pudding was unevenly heated could not decide if this is a warm dessert a hot dessert or an ice cold dessert Obviously the food isn't going to look exactly like the pictures but come on this was so far off at 40 bucks a meal we would have been better off at the hot bar at WholefoodsPorch you know you can do better

I've gone here twice now. Each time I went I made a reservation because I've heard good things about here and it gets packedSo the first time I got a New York strip. Piece of meat itself was good, nothing crazy. I asked Pittsburgh rare and it came out medium rare closer to medium. Also a side of French fries they needed saltThe second time I got salmon which was cooked well but lacked seasoning. Needed more acidity to it. My ex got the lobster Mac n cheese and if you fuck up that you shouldn't have a food businessThe place itself is a great date night spot. Nicer inside but not blow you away nice. Good for outdoor too when it's nicer out. The spot is better than the food so if you're okay with that then go. If you want a meal that'll kick your dick in, then there's a bunch of other spots I'd recommend

Some of the best chicken noodle soup I've ever had and my son loved his burger. Nice cozy spot for lunch.

Stopped here with the family after our visit at Phipps. The staff were very friendly and with a party of 12 we're not phased by us. Because of the cold today I opted for a warm entree - the supreme pizza. I hadn't ordered it before but will get it again. It's a big pizza. I could only eat half. I also got the crispy (smashed) potatoes. I've had them here before when they were much more smashed. They still tasted good but they weren't smashed. The Penn Pilsner went perfect with the 'za.

A group of seven of us stopped by on Sunday around 8pm and were able to get a table right away. They weren't super busy which helped. Our server was nice enough but missed details sometimes: we had to ask for more water instead of him just noticing and giving us more automatically and he subbed our tater tots with fries and didn't address it at all with us until we asked about it. The food is decent and reasonably priced. They gave us one check for our party and didn't ask if we wanted to split it.

I live across town and have somehow managed to make it to the porch twice in one month. I haven't had a dish I didn't enjoy. I took out of town friends here for lunch last month. It's a fan favorite! Love that they source locally and sustainably. The chef here is absolutely amazing and creates some wonderful dishes!Service is great. Location is nice and airy!

Last week, my book exchange club got spoiled by the team at the Porch! We were treated to food & drink from their harvest of fall menu with Oktoberfest inspired & seasonal dishes made from locally sourced ingredients - even the honey cultivated from their own rooftop beehives. This seemingly never ending meal was the perfect nourishment to fuel talking about our book recommendations! There may or may not have been a clash of forks over dessert. We loved our evening at the porch in Oakland and highly recommended this spot for a girls night out or club gathering of your own!
