I saw the Rocky Horror Picture Show here over the weekend. I've seen the movie a ton of times, but I've never been to the theater with a shadow cast before. It was so much fun! We sat in the back at the tables by the bar. The theater seats looked comfortable, but I didn't actually try them out. At the tables, we had room to get up and do the Time Warp. The theater provided a small props kit, which was fun. The bar also had a sort of themed drink (sangria) that they had on special. The food was pretty much typical movie theater food - popcorn, nachos, pretzels, etc.I've only been to the theater once before, just because it's a bit out of the way for me, but it's been a good time both times I was here! The only reason it wasn't 5 stars was because the view was a bit obstructed in the table seats since they're all on the same level, and the nacho chips were kind of burnt. All in all though, I'd still come back again.

Craft beer , movies , and cupcakes ?! I'm in.We heading to @theoakstheater for a showing of Little Shop of Horrors.@acclamationbrewing was there with samples of their Graffiti Puzzle, NE Hazy IPA, 6.1% which was soft and citrusy. @citygrows was there with some carnivorous plants and @oakmontbakery made some festival (and delicious) treats for the occasion. This was my first time to The Oaks Theater and I have to say, I'll be back. It was fun to sit, sip, (sing) and snack in this atmosphere. I love that they have tables for sitting and eating in addition to their theater seats.

Why go to the regular theater when you can go to The Oaks? For the experience of course! I've been here a few times and enjoyed each time. Last year for "Nightmare Before Christmas" and this year for "Home Alone" we were surrounded by little ones. Guess I'm just a big kid because I laughed right along with them. Not only was I entertained by the movies, but also by their giggles and reactions. Concern Brewery was part of the beer tasting and movie activity Oakmont had this month. I got to try the strawberry ice cream ale, and the porter pecan. The strawberry ale was light and refreshing, but the porter was solid, and the right touch for a winter evening. I normally am not big into nutty drinks, so it says a lot that it caught my attention like that. I also enjoyed the caramel apple sangria. It was like sucking on a Werther's candy, except refreshing and not kid friendly. Last time there was a brunch feature, so we got some goodies from Oakmont bakery. Not to get sidetracked here, but have you ever been to Oakmont bakery? The collaboration between the theater and bakery was quite exquisite. Looking forward to the next feature!

I haven't been in awhile and I don't get the chance often but it's a reasonably priced venue that has interesting shows and they have a little bar. It's nice for comedy shows.

My first experience here wasn't a great one! We went for the cinerbrunch last weekend and there was some misunderstanding. We were the only ones that reserve a table so they had set our food there for us already. Got there, got the table, got our OJ (which was actually mimosa, which they had cups all lined up, we assumed it was the free OJ) realized that we didn't have our breakfast sandwiches. So we walked down to the stage as there were multiple boxes with breakfast sandwiches. One of the workers came up to us and said we order the salad option, I said that's not what we wanted and the website stated the salad would be a "add on". Add on in my option is something you add on to your meal. She stated that our salad is our breakfast. I said I'm must have misunderstood your website. I spoke to the manager Jessica and asked if we can swap it out. She stated that everything they have was already spoken for. 5mins later she comes back and said they "found" some and we can have it for $10 each. I declined because I can go down to Oakmont bakery and get it for half the price (which we did after the show) The hashbrown that we did get was cold and not even edible. The yogurt was the only thing good and the donut was old. Then we find out the tea, juice and coffee were NOT included even though the website clear states it does! So I went to Jessica said my friend got charged for her coffee and I pulled up their website where it clearly states its included. She then with an attitude said well, it's not but I will give you guys one round of drinks.I left my untouched salad on the table with my umbrella and water bottle. When the movie was over and I went back to our reserved table, the salad was gone. I asked the bartender and she said we threw it away. I explained that I haven't even touched the salad and was going to eat it for lunch! She said she'll talk to her manager. Jessica said she will refund my ticket to the Drag bingo that following Friday as I had mentioned I will be attending that as well with a even bigger group. I still haven't received a refund!! I feel like this whole situation could have been handled better by the staff. We did attend the drag show bingo and it was ok. I've seen better shows. Unfortunately, I really like the events they are hosting and I'm part of a meetup group with close to 1500 ladies but I would not be hosting events here anymore because my first interaction with the staff wasn't pleasant. If I didn't already have the 8ladies buy tickets to the drag show, I would have cancelled the whole event.I also wouldn't do a cinebrunch here. They get the food from Oakmont bakery probably a few hours before the event so the sandwiches were probably cold anyways.

Immediately when I walked through the doors, I knew I was going to like this place. It is a one room theater that has different types of performances, movies, and events almost every night of the week. I purchased tickets for An Evening with the Ghosts of Pittsburgh event. The theater is located on the main street that runs right through Oakmont and with a big flashing "Oaks" sign, it is hard to miss. There is very convent parking on the road too so your journey into the theater should not take long. They have an appetizer bar right where you walk in where you are able to purchase snacks for the show. As you walk in further, they have a bar with some of the best drinks. Finding your seat isn't hard because all the aisles are labeled very well. There isn't a bad seat in the theater. It was a lot bigger than I had expected. Most of the seating is just like movie theater chairs but toward the back there are tables that can be bought with tickets as well. From what I have seen, the table seating costs a bit more that regular seating. Depending on the event you go there for, you might want to get tickets far in advance. They have many shows a year that sell out so far in advance. For the show I went to, I had to buy my ticket 3 months early in order to get a seat. I definitely recommend checking the theater out. I will definitely come back because it has a more intimate vibe than a regular theater but it's also big enough that you feel like you are watching the event with hundreds of people. If you have the chance to come here for a concert, movie, or guest speaker, you should consider it. Check out their website or Facebook page too. That is where they lost all their upcoming events!

My second time here was last night to see/hear Jake Shimabukuro for a outstanding ukulele performance. (My first time was in 2012 pre-renovation with a showing of "A Christmas Story".) I dug around for factoids. This 300 seat theater was renovated in 2015 for $350,000. It is wonderful in so many aspects. There is actually room between you, the seated, and the seat in front of you. So much room, in fact, that I could cross my legs and not touch the seat in front. So much room, in fact, that a patron who needed to cross in front of me to get to their seat did not require me to stand up to let them pass. THAT, my reader, is room and tell me what other venue give you THAT! There are also table and chairs in the back with a bar. The sound was very good. We were 7 rows back smack in the center and we loved our seats. The only downside and it is a tad-bit significant, given the factoids of $350,000 being spent to renovate this bulding and having 300 seats -- that means 300 people just might have to use the restroom during any single event. Let's just suppose for fairness that 1/2 are women. Can you see where I might be going with this? Yes... the designers, the payers of this renovation saw fit that 2 stalls for the women's restroom, tiny stalls I might add, were sufficient and that anyone else could just wait in the hall clear up the stairs for all they cared for their turn and hope they had time during intermission to get back to their lovely, roomy seat for the rest of the show. Let me repeat -- 2 stalls for 1/2 of 300 seated patrons = 2 stalls for 150 guests. Sooo, minus a star for poor planning, poor redesign for lack of restrooms. Of course, I didn't go in nor ask my husband how the men's restroom compared for capacity. But, if ya got money to renovate, ya got room for 300 very roomy seats and a bar but ya dont' have room for a proper restroom? Bahhh! You're lucky I'm giving 4 stars which says "I'm a fan"...because everything else was so good about the place!
