The New York Hot Dog Shop

Cheap and delicious. Shoutout to my grandfather for introducing me to this fine establishment. I've dined here several times throughout the years and have never been disappointed.I've always ordered the cheesesteak, reuben, or a hotdog. Side of chili is a must since they have the best. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu thought. All and all, if you're lookin for some nice local folks to whip you up a homemade breakfast or lunch, this is probably your place.

This place is fabulous! We tried it for the first time today after reading a post someone recommended on a local Ross Township social media page and can't believe we hadn't discovered it before! There was another couple there that was trying it for the first time after reading the post as well! We've passed it every day for years, but for some reason, always thought it was out of business--quite the opposite! Apparently, it's been there for 40 years and it's open for breakfast and lunch and serves American style comfort foods. The hubs had eggs over easy, sausage links, Italian toast, home fries, and I tried their Greek omelet. Everything was delicious, and the prices are reasonable. The staff is very friendly and accommodating! The retro decor is adorable as well. It's refreshingly tranquil and welcoming! We will definitely be back.

The New York Hot Dog Shop is a small restaurant that serves not only hot dogs but also burgers, other sandwiches (e.g., Italian hoagie, BLT, fish, and egg salad), chicken tenders, mac and cheese, coleslaw, soups, breakfast omelettes, French toast, pancakes, etcetera. Please see my attached photos for the menu in April 2024. Prices are very reasonable.My husband and I ate lunch here one time. A counter had several seats, and the rest of the room contained some tables and booths. The employees worked hard to provide timely and courteous service, and I appreciated that they automatically gave my husband a refill for his soda. Here are my ratings for the individual foods:Chili-cheese dogs - 4 stars - These hotdogs were covered in a chili that my husband described as "dry." He prefers chili that is a runny sauce. He did still enjoy the flavors of these hot dogs.French fries - 4.5 stars - These fries were thin and crispy. I chose a side of nacho cheese that was gooey and tasted good.Potato salad - 4.5 stars - This potato salad was very fresh and did not contain too much mayonnaise.Macaroni salad - 4.5 stars - This macaroni salad also contained very fresh ingredients and had the right amount of mayonnaise.

Very casual laid back place. Definitely reminds me of a hotdog place in NYC. Fast paced. Service is great. Hotdogs are 10/10. Will be back asap.

Great little shop on Perry Highway -- fantastic place to stop to satisfy your cravings for hot dogs and a variety of other sandwich items too. Their breakfast is also amazing! The staff is so kind. I've only recently done take out, but they have several tables for dine in too and I can imagine that they fill up during the weekend hours.

The food was good. The service was good. What didn't get that fifth star is the Chicago style hot dog. 1. The hotdog was not all beef2. The hot dog was grilled3. The "hot peppers" were not sport peppers4. There was no pickle spear5. The relish was not neon green nor room temperature 6. The bun was not poppy seed7. Not enough celery salt

Winter once hotdogs were anemic. Nothing to write home about go someplace else. I have nothing good to say here so I probably shouldn't say anything.

Community staple. Good food good prices. Easy to get to, good parking. Can't go wrong!

I LOVE this place!! The BEST hotdogs anywhere! My Dad used to take us down to the original New York Hotdog on Federal Street when I was young 50+ years ago. I was really sad to see it go but they opened the shop in the North Hills and it's the best! I moved out of Pittsburgh 20 years ago and now live in Arizona. I visit this place EVERY time I'm back in the Burgh! Great people who work there and great food all around!Jon S.

I heard they charge for lettuce and tomato on their hamburgers. 17 dollars for a hamburger, fries and a coke? Hopefully its just a mistake that never happens again.
