Another trip to Jeanette to visit The Nest went well last night. We were drawn in by the advertisement in the Trib noting the specials of a Seafood Platter, John Dory And Hogfish. I was not familiar with the two fishes and a quick Google search explained both to me. The Hogfish was from Florida and had a mild flavor similar to Grouper, which I love, so I ordered that grilled. It did not live up to my expectations however. It was okay, not great. Perhaps another preparation method would have been a better choice? My husband went for the seafood Platter which was huge and did not disappoint! My son, although he loves seafood, loves steak more and The Nest has consistently provided him with a tender perfectly cooked steak. My cocktail was an Ocean Bleu Martini and the dinners come with 2 sides, such as salad and twice baked potatoes.Our server was very attentive and couldn't have been nicer. The decor is largely unchanged from the 90's but who cares when you're eating delicious seafood? It looked like the facade had an update since we were there. This is where you go when you want delicious seafood! I'd stick to the well known favorites of Crab Cakes, Lobster tails and Scallop or Shrimp dishes.

I love The Nest! We do all of our event celebrations here, birthdays and anniversaries and stuff. Cozy, old-timey feel. Classic seafood/steak offerings. Always reliable. A diamond in the Jeannette rough.

Had dinner with some friends last night and once again enjoyed the BEST LOBSTER ! Our waitress, Kris was delightful and very attentive. She started us off with a sampler platter and crab cake.. both were delicious! We never had to wait for drinks and the bartender made a great bourbon old fashioned. We added a salad and twice baked potato to our entree and the homemade blue cheese dressing was incredible!Can't wait to return!

Our new Favorite seafood restaurant. Went there this Tuesday - location Jeanette PA. Our first time. everyone working there were super friendly, The interior was nicely laid out and classy we got seated in a small area by the window with the six tables, it was nice and cozy.We ordered oysters on the half shell, one reason we went there my date and I both love oysters, they did not disappoint fantastic. they have a nice wine list and. Specialty drinks. I had my lady.order a large lobster tail (because we were going to share) I had lobster and crab meat over rice.We were really enjoying ourselves was the best we had in a while.

Overall this was very good seafood for Western PA, but for those familiar with coastal areas, it was average. We started with the seafood bisque which was a cream soup literally stuffed with a mixture of shellfish. Salads were nothing special. The stuffed orange roughy was good but inundated with butter. The seafood trio (unfortunately missing scallops that night) was rice covered with a lot of crabmeat, a few lobster pieces, and three jumbo shrimp.; garlic butter on the side added the only flavoring. The side of corn was like diner food. Overall, fresh and good for the area.

My wife and I went to the Nest for a birthday celebration. We were last here many years ago, but I loved there cold water Australian lobster tails. We took the 40 minute ride to see if they still were that good.We started with the oysters on the half shell and escargot. Both were very good. We both indulged on the lobster tails, a 16 oz tail for me and 10 oz tail for my wife. It's rare to see such large lobster tails and even rarer to get Australian tails. (They actually have a 22 oz tail as well.) They were delicious! Just as I remembered them. We enjoyed the tiramisu for desert. The service was good, the ambiance was nice, ( although they could use better quality flatware), but you we didn't go for the ambience.If you want a real treat you can't get anywhere else in Pittsburgh or in most other cities, go for the tails.

Another outstanding dining experience at The Nest last night with 2 other couples. Alana, Kelly, Nina and all the 'unseen' professionals enabled another special evening.From greeting, to seating, to prompt ordering, serving and enjoying, The Nest did not disappoint. Alana, our special waitress, always goes out of her way to make sure our dining experience is flawless and last night was no exception.I tried the Lobster and Crab Saute and loved every bite. All the hard work was already done for me so I savored the tender, buttery lobster and the huge sweet crab chunks served over rice with a garlic butter accompaniment. The glazed baby carrots are a frequent and favorite side.The simple and elegant decor with freshly ironed linens and sparkling table settings create the perfect ambiance for an always memorable evening.
