We had mixed messages ... Kentucky Derby/Ascot hats yes or no. We went with Yes (Amazon: Kentucky derby hat). Mimosas on the back patio that was thankfully under cover from the sun. We went inside for tea education. Tables of 6 were comfortable. We started with our tea. The tea drinkers were impressed with the loose tea and strainers. We were confused with the honey straws until we saw the embroidery scissors. The pea pesto on toast was my favorite. The cucumbers were sliced very thin and flavorful. The chicken salad was just right. The orange and mango/ginger scones were delightful with/out preserves and clotted cream. The bottom tier had the cheesecake with apricots, brownies. & raspberry pavlova. Beautiful architecture. Host and wait staff very attentive. L'Occtaine Verbena soap (my favorite) was in the bathroom. Already discussed planning an event in the future here. Reservations ASAP.

We visited The Inn on Negley for Cookies and Cocoa around Valentine's Day and had a great time. The dining room is so cute and cozy -- it really takes you back in time. I don't know what I was picturing a bed and breakfast to be like, but this is definitely it. All of the staff was helpful and kind. We even got to pet a doodle dog, which is obviously a plus! Now for the food -- the cookies themselves were excellent. The reservation gets you three cookies, a dish of fresh whipped cream, fresh marshmallows, and a pot of cocoa poured over a chocolate lattice in your mug. Everything tasted amazing. I'd never had fresh marshmallows before, but it will be hard to go back to store bought! Overall 100% recommend. Can't wait to try high tea here as well.

Yep. Best hot cocoa in the Burgh. My husband and I agree it was the best hot cocoa we've ever had. We went for high tea with our boys and they ordered that but we tried it. The teas were great and they accommodated my Vegan husband fully. The place was fancy but not pretentious. It was expensive so it was a nice treat. Not something we could do often but it was a lovely event.

I visited the Inn on Negley in June. We had to book 2 months in advance to get a Saturday reservation. When you're booking you can notify of allergies. There was a small upcharge for gluten free food. The waitstaff were attentive and knowledgeable of tea selections. The GF goods are baked in house. I appreciate that they were similar flavor profiles of the non-GF food. The passion fruit scone was interesting. The brownie was my favorite - think GF cosmic brownie! I'd like to go back to hopefully sit on the patio. It was too hot the day I went, but the patio looks lovely!

The Inn on Negley is absolutely amazing. Our stay was so magical, we already made plans to come back at a later time for no reason. We initially found ourselves staying here the weekend of the Taylor Swift concert. We were excited about being in Shadyside away from most of the TS traffic, and our choice turned out to be excellent. The Inn also has a small parking lot with enough dedicated spots for its guests, so you never have to worry about parking. The rooms here are absolutely stunning. They are decorated with class and care and every room has its own personality. The accessible room on the first floor, the Braeburn Suite, is spacious and stunning with its old world touches but homey modern feel. The moment we checked in, we were blown away! It was romantic and lovely. The bed was truly the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in while traveling and had the most beautiful four-post frame. You truly can't go wrong with any of the rooms here. We peeked in a few others and each has its own character and panache. We didn't make it to high tea because we were tight on our schedule, but we did deeply enjoy the chef's breakfast daily for the weekend. The food was made with love, presented thoughtfully and made us giddily excited for breakfast daily. We chose to eat on the patio daily and felt like we were transported to some quiet, green oasis that surely could not have been Pittsburgh.Top to bottom, staying at the Inn on Negley is an experience worth having. It's also walking distance to several Shadyside attractions. We could not have asked for a more comfortable, inviting, and beautiful stay here. The innkeeper and all the staff members were engaging, kind, and helped with anything we needed. Our new favorite place!

The ambiance was very peaceful and conducive to conversation. Beautifully decorated rooms, but the flatware, dishes, and tea pots were lacking quality. Food, while presented very well, missed on flavor and complexity. The server was very sweet and helpful. She changed out my flasa immediately when I showed her it was dirty. My plate had old egg on it too. I was showing a friend what a High Tea was because I love them and find one whenever I travel. This facility should stick to being an Inn as it was a poor tea experience.

I've been hesitant to get on planes due to COVID so we've been looking into bed and breakfasts within driving distance...this place came up on the list and I am so glad it did. It's easy to miss while going down the street but it is absolutely charming: our room was like being in a history book. The bed and sheets were quite luxurious...you will get a great night's sleep. If you're on the top floor, there are a lot of stairs...not a big deal but I was huffing and puffing while pregnant. If you love tea, then check this place out. They have an amazing selection (the hot apple spice is sweet and cozy even without adding honey or sugar) and their tea time is great. You don't need to stay at this establishment to enjoy their high tea but if you do, you can also do tea privately in your room which I love. There are lots of little add ons to your experience (a bit overpriced but worth it for the experience... especially if you're there with someone else) and the staff and chef really try to be accommodating (for example of you're not drinking, or if you prefer a certain kind of wine). It was a little rainy when we went so we couldn't enjoy breakfast outside but the indoor space was lovely. I do wish there was more variety (especially in non egg options) with the breakfast but that's a nit picky sort of complaint. Each guest can have a parking spot in the back...very convenient.

This is a super cute inn! I attended a baby shower here, and they had a nice little room for about 15 people. The staff was nice. I had some kind of apple cider tea, which was delicious. I forgot to get a picture of the pastry tower, but the pastries were great as well (especially the scones!). The food wasn't bad either (although it didn't blow me away). Overall, this was a great place to have a small event and I had a good experience.

This place is amazing! Spent the weekend and couldn't ask for a more beautiful place! Room was gorgeous! Bed was so comfortable and pillows were heaven! Carol was the sweetest hostess and breakfast each morning was on point! Hope to visit again when the weather is warmer. Just a quick walk from many cute shops and restaurants on Walnut St.

High end. Historical. Elegant. My mother in law & I went here to celebrate my birthday. Everyone there was very kind and checked in on us. There are multiple rooms you can have tea in and you can even stay the night. They serve a 3 tiered plate with savory and sweet options. A few of my favorites:tea: vanilla Creme black tea Savory: egg salad on crostini Sweet: vanilla scone OR chocolate ganache macaroon The reason I'm not giving it 5/5 is because the house was extremely hot. Both my mom and I were quite hot while drinking hot tea. All in all I would recommend this spot to anyone looking for a more unique way to stay in Pittsburgh.
