Wall Menu: it says chicken salad & tuna salad, but apparently those are not actually served.

I am disappointed to say that our recent experience ordering from The Hoagie Shop was not what we expected. We ordered Tuna hoagies and they were edible. The tuna flavor was very overbearing and the amount of mayo made the hoagie inedible for me. Luckily, my husband was able to eat it the next day. Stay with their regular subs and you should be fine!

I love The Hoagie Shop. A Butler institution. Some don't like their deli meat cut a little thick and wrapped around the cheese and shoved down on top of the lettuce and tomato, but that's what the Hoagie Shop is. Great meatballs, hot fresh fries and plenty of them. You have to try the Brisket. It's so good that sometimes I crave it at night! Very tender and cooked just right. Their horseradish sauce makes this sandwich a 10! And, I'm pretty sure the 2 Hoagie Shop locations are keeping a rubber band factory in business. Lol

Is it possible to give a zero? It should be possible to give this place a zero. For whatever reason, getting a proper hoagie in Butler, PA has proven much more difficult than I would have thought. That is the exact type of food I thought would be easy to find in abundance here.I was ordering a Ham & Cheese hoagie from here and asked to add mayo. They told me that they don't do mayo, only miracle whip. What?!?! For that alone they should be stripped of the right to call themselves the "Hoagie" Shop. Even if the owner(s) is one of the very few on this planet of Earth who somehow prefer miracle whip over actual mayo, fine. To not even have mayo as an option though? It is one of the most common condiments that goes on sandwiches. Millions of time more popular than miracle whip. Literally millions. There certainly is over a million people a day (several million I would assume) adding mayo to their sandwiches and burger. How many in comparison are adding miracle whip? Now look, the mayo thing, bizarre as they may be for that, is not enough to earn them the only one star review. It's that after I got "no mayo", I asked for a tuna salad sandwich instead, "we dont have that". I pointed to the sign on the wall that clearly read "Tuna Salad". After no explanation from the two kids behind the counter I said "Okay, I'll do a chicken salad hoagie".If you are picking up on the pattern I bet you can guess the response that I got, "we don't have that", again with no explanation or additional help. Then came the coup de gras. When in response to the 3rd "we don't have" I asked which items they do have, the girl responded, I kid you not, "we got those items on the board" and pointed to the same sign that I had pointed at listing "Chicken Salad" and "Tuna Salad". It was like I was in an episode of Seinfeld or a prank video show.I simply, without a word, turned around and left.I attached a picture of the board below and highlighted chicken & tuna salad.I will add this one thing, the free bread box that is done at the other location is very cool. I do a Little Free Library and food pantry outside of my home. So I very much appreciate that they do that.

Always fresh, delicious and fast. Their capocollo hoagie rocks with spice oil. It's my favorite. Great for a picnic before a kayak paddle.

For the first 33 years of my life, I'd always go with a regular no tomatoes but then i found the smothered steak and it's so delicious!! Also a big fan of the fried mushrooms! This place is great every time you go and the staff is friendly. There is sometimes a wait because they get very busy around lunch time but it's worth it! 10/10 would recommend!

Stop there on the way home from camping with my husband and a friend and his dog (we ate in the parking lot). Hoagie's were delicious served on homemade bread.. Cheese fries were good. Thick cut fries, average cheese sauce. Bane (the dog) said he liked everything. Only complaint, they need to give bigger napkins.

So, I was working in the area today and I saw a sandwich shop thinking "that's where I will have lunch."I saw food safety certificates on wall proudly displayed and the best sandwich for area.Well, I'm thinking "I'm in store for a great sandwich." Two young teenagers were running the store. One was glopping the industrial size of miracle whip in a Tupperware container: chattering. So, the sandwich was done but I can't have it till the fries were ready apparently... my 30 minute lunch was just ticking away...finally the moment I have been waiting for. I anxiously open wrapper of the sandwich, I see hoagie roll, a tomato slice (really only one and cut in half) lollots of lettuce, and no onions even though she asked me. Also there was no dressing, no mustard no pickles and I asked for roast beef, but this wasn't deli meat likegiant eagle, it looked like a piece of leather. So I wrapped up and brought home for daughter who said that was a mediocre sandwich.
