The Flats on Carson

Maybe as an undergrad I would like this bar, but as an adult...this is not it. The floor was covered in toilet paper that stuck to your shoes (a weird intentional choice?), the music was super loud, & the lights were completely dark despite going during the day. A lot of the crowd was absolutely hammered & looking to start fights. None of that feels like a place I want to go to - especially since they charge a cover fee. The only positive was that the bartenders were very attentive to getting orders in & out even though they were busy, and they had a great selection of high noon drinks.Food: N/ADrinks: BService: BAmbiance: D-

Been here a few times during the bar crawls. I enjoy the music, the vibe, the drink, and the staff is also fun. What else can you say? If you are looking for a good, fun time, then you you should drop on by. I feel like that rhymed, but the point still stands. If I go to the next bar crawl I anticipate I'll drop by. I've yet to be disappointed with this place.

I went to this club happy as ever. One mistake and all of a sudden I am enemy number one. I said that I was confused that I could not leave out the back door. When I did it before no one said it wasn't allowed so I never knew. When this happened I stated my confusion with the bouncer to which he said that arguing would only make things worse. This is when I got uncomfortable because I didn't argue with this bouncer. I only stated my confusion with no goal for re-entry. I hope that this club learns to clarify all rules with the people who enter.

I've always heard the horror stories from my colleagues about The Flats on Carson but had never experienced any issues until this past weekend. After standing in line for the night club at for more than 20 minutes my friends and I were asked to leave because someone in our group was wearing jordans. In the window of the establishment you can clearly read the discriminatory nature of the clothing restrictions. They were all clothing that most people implicitly or explicitly associated with Black. You would see some people enter the clubs wearing converse and vans, but no one that was wearing airforce ones or jordans were not allowed. So my concern at this point would be to clarify the restrictions on clothing and make them more consistent. For instance maybe a general rule about wearing shoes with white soles on them. Furthermore I'd like to known why these stipulations exist in the first place. Is it a safety concern ? Or personal preference of the business ? Of course this is not a new issue whatsoever! Two years ago there were multiple discriminatory law suits that were filed in Chicago that won because of the racism that was engrained into this nightlife culture. For me the biggest concern here isn't the dress code not being let in but it's the manner in which this situation was addressed. I was with a group of 8 individuals none of us who are from pittsburgh. 2 of us who've lived here for more than a year and the remainder just recently transitioned from different states. One person from the party is an international student from Nigeria and this was his first impression of a bar in Pittsburgh. I think this is a poor introduction to a bar that I frequented and had bragged on up until this incident. I am extremely disappointed in the manner that this club and it's employees handled and discriminate against Black people. I will not be returning.

Fantastic! Great spot for a drink and some delicious apps. We popped in after my brother's graduation to have something light. The pretzel bites were fantastic, the cheese sauce was rich and thick. Flat bread was great, crisp and a lot larger than we thought. Buffalo chicken dip was delicious, came with a variety of veggie and cracker sides.We made sure to visit Flats since it was my brother's bar of choice when he attended school in Pittsburgh. Being from New York I wasn't local and reached out to the restaurant to purchase a t-shirt for my brother. Mark replied to me and hooked me up with a great shirt for my brother who was completely surprised and excited to have the shirt as a memory of his times there.Overall, fantastic service and great food!

I've given this place so many chances but in my opinion, I don't feel safe here as a woman. Multiple occasions I've gone and seen the same skeevy men trying to cop feels, get uncomfortably close to groups of girls, etc. Even outside those specific regulars, I've had additional bad experiences with being touched at by other patrons. I've never experienced this problem to this extent at another bar.

Scammers. Said cover for NYE was 10. Never said anywhere it was going to go up or go to 40. Then 5 minutes before hall drop they wouldn't let my friends and I in without paying 40 each. I'm sure they just pocketed the rest. What a scam. Wouldn't go back

There are better places to go out in South Side and even Carson. This establishment is racist and sexist. As a female, who usually goes with other female friends, we felt objectified by a particular bouncer and other security guards (to my surprise the particular one I am referring to, already has a picture and review on this page). Beyond that, my friend was discriminated against and called "angry/argumentative" when just communicating what was wrong. The only reason I point this out is that some of my other friends and I were more argumentative, but she was the only one screamed at. So in summary they are racist, just do not go there.

Racist bouncer, I hope you're not black and trying to use a non-traditional form of ID at a bar crawl! I've seen white people all day at the bar crawl using passports, pictures of IDs, even college IDs to get in but I had a legal Georgia ID bc I just moved here and the dumb*ss at the door said it was fake without even scanning it but tried to let all my white friends in before AND after me including my boyfriend who also has an out of state ID! Hope he's fired or this place gets shut down, don't care which is first
