Let's start by saying the theam and concept of this place I thought were cool. The bartender Bailey was great and did an amazing job. The food is typical bar food and it's ok... We stopped here on a whim just this evening. It's a shame but we will not be back. The experience of this evening has been tainted. There were 4 other "customers" at the bar and some type of pool league going on in the back. Upon opening the door we were met with blasting rap rap music spewing profanities. Typically I am not such a prude, but it was terrible. The same few terrible songs were played over and over. We sat at the bar as the back was busy with the Monday night pool league. The people sitting in the group at the bar were drunk and just being obnoxious. They were loud, banging on the bar and had zero care anyone else was there. They also some how had control of the tv remote that controlled the music as it was youtube. They continued to play songs like Carlie B and some thing called juice world. This was not the vibe in this place I thought it would be. They ruined our dinner and as quickly as I could eat my flatbread that wasn't really flatebread bread but still tasted ok..we left. The place also somehow managed to have a dank smell but then not a bad smell.

if I could give no stars I would.we showed up staff was ok except staff shouldn't be drinking, the place is very dark and dirty could definitely use a cleaning, drinks were subpar at best, prices are high for the environment, I mean it's a dive neighborhood bar but we tried the food my wife got sick off their wings and my Italian sub tasted sour like meat has turned, there's no presentation and for the place as slow as it was the food took exceptionally long to get to us and then the cook was at the bar more than in his kitchen, just a very unprofessional establishment no management the cook was flirting with the few ladies and drinking, as a food blogger I definitely wouldn't recommend this place, everything is out dated. wings are soggy and undercooked. staff needs training from top to bottom, This is Greg the Pittsburgh Food Fanatic giving the Coal mine a big thumbs down.I would recommend trying The Getaway which isn't to far away from this place. I'll be posting my assessment of The Getaway soon!

We came here as one of the few places we went during Covid. I had gotten a Groupon for it, when we first came in there are a few people in the bar as well as a rather large dog that was semi-aggressive with both of his ears wrapped up and bandages. The guy with him played it off as he was just a nice dog but it frightened both of my children. The bartender was our server. Service was pretty good thing that she didn't come over quite as much as you would expect a server to but she had the whole bar to take care of as well. So our refills kind of went by the wayside being long in between when we saw her. Again she was fairly busy though covering the bar and taking phone orders and preparing to go's. All of our food came out fairly quickly. Everything was pretty hot with the mozzarella wedges being overcooked and the cheese being cooked right out of them. The pizza's took longer but came out piping hot and were absolutely delicious. We enjoyed the funnel cake fries, loaded fries, and the hot pepper cheese balls as well. Overall that experience was pretty good. The chicken parm sandwich I had was amazing! By far one of my favorites I've had anywhere. We came back with another Groupon called in for us to have dinner for pickup and it was all ready 15+. I minutes sooner than I was quoted on the phone. The bar had the AC blasting so everything was Luke warm at best checking it in the car and cold by the time we got it home. Very disappointed and it seemed like not being there they didn't care as much about attention to detail and freshness.

The burgers were amazing! They were definitely fresh. I was thoroughly impressed by how spot on they were with our order. I order from GrubHub/UberEats often, and restaurants often miss my notes. We got 2 different build your own burgers and the order was perfect! 10/10 dinner, will certainly be back.

Went in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by this place. Had a very nice burger made just as I like it. Quiet place with a laid back local vibe. Drinks were good and service was very attentive. I look forward to going back and enjoying more.

I used Uber Eats to get a order today. Ordered 12 mild wings, cheeseburger with swiss and mushrooms with fries and cheeseburger with cheddar and bacon with fries. My swiss buger was great, very tasty. Could have used more mushrooms, and they forgot my fries. But very good. Cheddar buger was also very good, fried were very tasty, fresh cut. The wings were ok. Very crispy but very dry, not a lot of sauce on them. Will definitely give another try, hopefully I get my fries next time.

This is a nice neighborhood pub on Library Ave that I've visited a couple of times. They have a pretty standard selection of beers, with maybe 10 or so taps and some craft beers on tap. There was a Flying Fish Porter I had that was pretty good. There seems to be a bunch of regulars here and late on a Friday afternoon business was pretty good. They have a typical pub menu, and I got a burger with home made chips. The burger had a pretty nice sized patty, maybe a third of a pound, and it was a good deal for $6.95. My craft beer was $6 and Yuengling drafts were $2.50. They have several screens and later in the afternoon they had the local news station on with audio playing from the TV. I seem to remember smoking allowed here, but on a nice day they had the door opened with a nice breeze coming through. It was pleasant to sit at the bar. This is a good place to come for pub fare if you're in the neighborhood.

I have become a very big fan of The Coal Mine recently. Words cannot describe just how good the wings, burgers and sandwiches are here. Fresh beef, not frozen, wings are huge!You have driven by a million times on RTE 88 and just thought, "Oh that dive bar has been there for a thousand years...never been in there" Well, steer into the parking lot and enjoy some of the most reasonably priced bar food that you have ever tasted!To put icing on the cake, the bartenders are all quite friendly!Keep up the great work folks!

This is just a typical joint with your typical bar food. However, when you stop in the afternoons, it's a quiet place to do a little work while getting something to eat or drink. And a couple of times I've been there. The staff is always super friendly. I can't say anything special about this place but there's nothing wrong with it and that makes it just perfect for what it is.
