Smoking. Let's start there. You can. If you are not five generations from this place, don't try talking at the pub. Food=didn't bother. It is cheap.

Alright, the god Ol' Castle Pub. I had moved out to PA a few months back blind, not knowing the area or anyone. I seen the castle one day and decided to go in. Found out that they have really good specials (Monday - $5 Pizza Pies, Wednesday - .25 Wings etc.) I did experience the same waiting issue as Tom D. (the other reviewer). At first i was like WTF but then once i became accustomed to the slow pace environment of western PA. i didnt mind it too much. Food is on point though.

This rating is not based on the quality of Castle Pub's food, drinks or prices. Unfortunately I can't rate any of those because after walking in to try the food and have some beers, we were seated (right by the bar) and spent the next 20 minutes wondering if Castle Pub actually served food or had waitstaff. After the 20 minutes we said fuck it and left. Considering the pub wasn't crowded, I feel like letting the fat Irish guy who walked over in 20 degree weather so he could throw back a few beers with dinner was a poor business decision.

11/9/19 Update - I know I said in my review from 5 years ago that I'd never go here again... but, I did. I thought after 5 years something might have changed. I did lunch take-out because I'm not a fan of smokey bars with sticky seats and tables. I got an Italian sub with fresh-cut fries and a personal pizza. Fries were not salted and were somehow not crunchy or soggy. They were an odd texture that I can't explain. I'm not sure I've ever thrown a pizza away in my life until I tried this one. Sauce tastes like tomato paste, dough seemed like it had been around long enough to get a "fermented" flavor (only way I can think to describe it). Couple other highlights.. 6 guys were sitting around the bar drinking beer and smoking cigarettes shortly after noon. Their language would make a sailor blush. They don't keep any coins in the register other than quarters, so you're total will be rounded up (bartender specifically told me this). If you're looking for a beer and some smokes on a sticky bar, this is your place.

Service awful...food so so..if you get it..forgot salads and appetizer...apparently its against the cooks rules to share the food you purchased...had to eat from each others plates...not allowed to have an extra plate...Had to search for a clean table..staff would rather eat at the bar and chit chat than wipe a table.Wouldn't bother...many other great places in the area.

Save yourself. Pour is right down the road. Don't like $5 beers? Then go to Clark Powels or Our Station House. All great places.

Been there four times in the last two years. I live 165 miles away. This place is a great destination for booze and live music. I've found the service to be pretty darn good considering I was there on evenings that were packed for music. Maybe earlier poor reviews about service kicked them into gear? I don't know, but I've met nothing but polite bartenders and staff at The Castle. Neat vibe with a cheesy medieval theme, but its fun. I've never eaten there so I cannot attest to the food. They have a good variety of beers and liquor at a reasonable price.

Went there for our hour lunch from work this Friday during lent. I should have known better when we walked in and the floor was sticky, and there were a handful of people sitting at the bar that looked like they had already had more to drink then the average person. The Bartender came and took our drink order, took between 5 to 10 minutes to get 2 drinks that were warm. She said they had to change the one soda. When she came back 10 minutes later to take our food order we asked how long it would take for a pizza. She told us 10 minutes so we ordered a large cheese pizza. We were the only people there not sitting at the bar and I believe the only ones there to eat. I watched her hangout with the patrons at the bar watching videos on a cell phone. I noticed that she never went to check on our food. A half hour later she came over and said she had bad news, she said the girl in back burnt our pizza. She then said that the good news is that our pizza would be on the house or they could make us 2 quick fish sandwiches on the house. The good news was that we were going to use a gift certificate that I had won that was to expire on Sunday. We explained that we didn't have time and had to return to work. I handed her the gift certificate to use towards our drinks. With that she just walked back to the bar to continue hangout with the drunks. Never offered to comp our next meal or anything.I will never return to the Castle Pub, even if it were the last place on earth to get a drink or a bite to eat. The service was worst I've ever dealt with, it was dark and the floor was discussing and the patrons looked like drunken drug users. I would recommend that you never step inside the castle pub let alone go there for a meal.
