We loved the vibes of this bakery/cafe. One of the few places in pittsburgh open this late to hang out. We enjoyed the pastry. Hot chocolate was outstanding.

This has been on my list to check out for a while. I had heard good things and appreciated the ingredients they use (or rather don't use). Another one of our go to spots for a sweet treat was sold out and we were in Lawrenceville so it was the perfect opportunity to check out Butterwood.I looked online at the order online to get some ideas as we were on our way. Unfortunately when we got inside they were out of the top couple things we had looked at. I understand it was later on a Saturday and running out but then why did they show available to order online.Parking is easy. I love that they are open late. There was a cool vibe and eclectic decor. It was definitely busy and full of people enjoying coffee, tea and desserts. We just wanted to grab something to go and settled on the blueberry blood orange bread. They packaged it up for us and we were on our way. We didn't even pull away before we had to try a bite. It was very tasty. It was obvious that it had real blood orange in it and the pops of blueberry were nice.We will definitely stop by and try some other options and maybe stay and enjoy a beverage. This is a great spot when you just aren't quite ready for the night to end of want a sweet bite to finish your night.

The vibe at Butterwood is immaculate. Who doesn't love a late night cake spot. There should be more spots like this :)I originally gave 5 because I loved the unique cake flavors and hand pies. I've gone back a couple times now and noticed that I just tend to remove all the frosting so in my head, this means 4/5 because I clearly like the cake but don't love the frosting.

Inside a beautifully designed space is a bakery worth your attention. Next to dried flower bouquets for sale are cupcakes, cakes, and more. They even have a wide selection of vegan options. My wife loved the vanilla cupcake with buttercream frosting. Even though I'm not vegan, the chocolate pudding was perfect and made with tofu!

I was looking for a post-dinner treat when I stopped by Butterwood. I picked up one of their small cakes and sadly found it to be very dense (and not in a good way to the point that it was chalky) which was unfortunately not saved by their whipped topping. The cafe had a cute vibe and workers were friendly but will not return.

Cannot explain how much I loved my experience here! From the decor to the staff and of course the food and drinks, 10/10 all around. The space is decorated beautifully with plants, long curtains, velvet chairs, low lit lamps, and even a Christmas tree. We ordered a few of the cakes to try. It was so difficult to narrow down our choices because everything looked and sounded delicious. I opted for the strawberry rose cardamom love cake. It came out cold because it was topped and layered with homemade whipped cream. This cake was delightful. So moist, flavorful, and the flavors worked so well together. I also ordered the hot chocolate which comes deconstructed and was honestly so satisfying to put together. My friend had two tea cakes, one vegan and one not. The chocolate cake with the espresso buttercream was easily my favorite, but the ube one was tasty as well. She got French press coffee and it came out with a little sand timer to let her know when to press. Cannot wait to come back!

One of my absolute favorite spots in Pittsburgh. We needed this place. Not only is it STUNNING atheistically inside of the shop (I mean, it is), it's just absolutely the coolest to have a dessert place that is open later for when you want to have a little treat and be cozy out or catch up with a friend, or even to take a teenager. I recently visited with my 16 year old cousin and it was so nice to have a place to get out of the cold for 30 minutes while enjoying a sweet treat. Their desserts are gorgeous and are all so unique. There is something for everyone here. For my wedding reception, I wanted to get my non-dairy guests a special treat and couldn't think of a better place to get their desserts from. Truly a gem in this city!

Butterwood Bake Consortium was a treat to visit. It was recommended by a friend and I am glad we decided to go. The baked goods were amazing and their dining room was cozy and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. There were many vegan options. The almond yuzu bread was not only beautiful to look at it was light and delicious. It paired perfectly with an herbal tea for an afternoon snack. The buttercream brownie was rich and had the perfect amount of chocolate. It paired well with a cup of coffee. My only concern was the water glasses had chips around the edges of the glasses. You had to be careful when drinking the water.

Got the olive oil cake and a little layered cake for a late-night gift for my friend. It was packaged so cutely and my friend said they were good. Great option for a late night dessert!
