Great food, great experience, and nice ambiance.Service was on point. Food was fresh upon arrival and you're given a lot of injera with your dishes too.

Absolutely amazing food I keep going back all the time. If you are unsure if you will like the food just get it anyway. The server was super sweet and let us try the wine before we got the bottle. I will continue to take all of my family and friends to this restaurant

Dinner at Tana was an awesome experience! I would highly recommend going with a group to be able to try as many different foods as possible. We ordered a couple samplers so that we could try all of the various meat & veggie dishes, and every single one was delicious & packed with flavor! To make the experience feel more authentic, the meal is served with injera to use to soak up the flavors & eat with your hands (be prepared to get messy!). We also started the meal with several kinds of sambusa, and the group consensus is that the lentil option was the best (it had the most flavor & was moist, while unfortunately the chicken option was super dry). In addition to a wide variety of Ethiopian food, Tana also offers Ethiopian beer which was cool to try! We tasted a couple of different ones, and in general I would describe them as creamy lagers. They paired well with the super flavorful meal we had. The server was really helpful with our questions about the food options & helped us put together samplers that covered a wide range of food/textures/flavors. Really, the only downside is that the ambiance could be nicer to reflect the quality of the food, but I would definitely go back!Food: ADrinks: A-Service: B+Ambiance: B

What a gem! It was a bit busy when i went and they seemed to be short staffed so it did take some time to get food. When we first entered the waitress told us it would be about a 30 min wait for food. She was very nice and continuously updated us on the status of our order. I ordered the veggie sampler and my friends got the beef and lamb. The waitress asked if it were okay for the food to be on one plate which is very considerate since some vegetarians don't like their foods to touch meat. The food was divine, everything was seasoned well and the portion of the veggies sampler (4 sides) was filling for $15.

Definitely interesting experience. The restaurant is open at really weird times and the workers looked like they didn't want to be there. The food was decent but nothing special and it cost more then I excepted

Had the veggie sampler. It was excellent. Wife had one of the chicken dishes (not the wot) not as much flavor as the veggies. Guy next to us was having the chicken wot and really liked it. Overall we liked it and thought the price was very reasonable. Have to agree with one other reviewer though. There is zero effort being put into creating an atmosphere. No music, not much decoration, seems more designed for a take out business. Service was fine for us on a Sunday night around 6:30. The Food makes it worth the trip.

This is not our first Ethiopian restaurant and, to be fair, I have eaten at several very good places. If Tana was my only choice for injera and the range of toppings that go with it I would definitely be a regular. Compared to other Ethiopian places, however, the food was under spiced. Even with extra hot sauce it was barely hot enough for me. I do like highly spiced food, and, perhaps the clientele in this area needs their Ethiopian food tamed. Otherwise it's a nice enough place. Good service, (5,) nice modest selection of beer and wine, decor is modest but pleasant, (4). I'm not averaging up. The food is why I picked this place for a Friday night on our vacation and it disappointed.

So, we came to Pittsburgh for our 23rd Anniversary to have a little out of town adventure. We planned on Tana before we even left home. The food looked awesome, I love Ethiopian food, and I was pretty excited. So, teff flour is gluten free. This is important for the gluten sensitive or people with Coeliac (like me). They need you to call ahead like a day. Which... I happen to know you can make it quick from scratch, but that's just... They had enough that I could eat, which was nice. But know that you have to call ahead normally. Which... yeah, no you shouldn't have to. Okay, into the food. Were I only reviewing the vegetarian, it would be higher. Unfortunately, the meat was just bad. Tough, poorly cooked, lacking in flavour, which is not what I think when I think Ethiopian. The menu is also extremely limited, and they're only open for like three hours. So... that's weirdService was nice, place was clean, we got our food promptly, but overall it was a mid experience. I can recommend the vegetarian, but even though the veggies were good, I still won't come back when I'm in the area again

Absolutely amazing experience. Never had Ethiopian food before and I'm not disappointed. The staff are friendly and helpful, especially for people completely unused to Ethiopian style meals. Couldn't have asked for a better time.

Tried this place for the first time last night. Everything was sooo flavorful with good sized portions. Came with a lot of the injera bread. I don't usually enjoy veggies but the veggie platter was amazing. I also got the chicken and that was delicious. I will definitely be going back.
