We really like this store. We always find what we need. The store is clean and the owner is very friendly and helpful. We try to support our little local stores when possible. It's just the right size store so you can be in and out.

Each time I come here I also shop next door at Bombay. This is my grocery shopping trip pattern when we're cooking Middle Eastern, Turkish and other foods at home. The owner of Sultan Bey is always so nice and helpful. The prices are really decent and I love being able to get things here that I can't find at the big box markets.Spices, rice, veggies and more.

Merhaba! As someone with a partner from Istanbul this place is fantastic. Anyone looking to explore Turkish or middle eastern food is in for a treat. Honestly you can buy some amazing things here. I recommend the frozen section for easy dinners and breakfasts as well as the extensive dried goods section. Plus the option of fresh baklava at the counter is the perfect cherry on top. Teşekkür Ederim!

Walking into Sultan Bey must've been my lucky day.I know the outside and area in general doesn't look so inviting, even in the window there are hookahs (I guess they sell hookahs here too??), but don't be shy! Come with a friend, as you'll need a partner to discover all the goodies this place has in store.TURKISH DELIGHTS ($11.99/lb): We got the ROSE-CHOCOLATE and MANGO PISTACHIO both in 1/4 lb so we spent about ~$6. They are sweet and delicious and pair so well with the instant (Dutch?) coffee that she bought (don't add sugar!). The owner even let us sample one of them which left me even more excited to go home and eat more. From (limited) produce, to instant coffee, to condiments, to Turkish delights, there are plenty of items here! There's quite the variety of items here, with some of them being products I've seen at ALDI. If you're looking for more produce and fresh $1 samosas, try next door at Bombay. Additionally, this place is definitely affordable. My roommate came here to buy instant coffee that even the shop owner loves too.My complaints would be that there needs to be a clearer labeling for the prices of items and it seems a bit cluttered. I'll likely be back at Sultan Bey for more Turkish delights.. (it's only been like a day and I'm halfway done with what we bought). *There is a past review (from just a month ago) about this place that it sells expired products, I'm not so sure about that claim, but I'd just have some common sense when you're buying. And let the owner know, I'd like to hope that he doesn't do that intentionally!

Sultan Bey is definitely the place to shop for your spices that is way more affordable than Market District! The ethnic foods here is unbeatable and so convenient for college students. The owner, Taha, is so kind and has even given me bananas and a discounted slice of cake. He is also very personable and cares for his customer. I lost my wallet months ago and he has gone out of his way to send it from Pittsburgh to Washington state! I highly recommend this place for your essential ingredients and nutrients!

I stopped by on a whim since it was close and I needed some groceries. I got some frozen vegetables (not expired, I checked the date before purchasing), and when I opened them they were rotten, discolored, and smelled terrible. I realize what I bought is not really what you go to this place for, but something like this is unacceptable.

Sultan Bey is a hidden Gem. Although the shop is small in size, it has a great variety of good food ranging from essentials to exotic Turkish delicacies. They have very good fruits and vegetables at reasonable prices. They have everyday necessities such as rice, beans, cheese, and olives... the list is long. They have a great variety of quality spices. They have good meat and frozen foods as well. Sultan Bey has the best dates and the best Baklava and also has many Turkish and middle Eastern delicacies that you cannot find anywhere else. I shop at Sultan Bey every week: the owners are kind and courteous; they always help me find what I am looking for. I am glad that this store is nearby in Oakland.

Mos of the products in this grocery store are EXPIRED. The owner intentionally sells such expired products, continues to fool people, and even does not care much about it. There are many complaints about it. When you visit this grocery, just get random three products, and explore this situation yourself.
