Steel City Meats

Just had one of their salesman honk their horn then bang on my door while my 2 year old daughter was napping. When I answered the door a guy who acted like he was on drugs got into my face screaming that there was a "4th of July" special if I bought one box of meat for $498 I'd get two free. We talked a little more and I politely declined at the moment saying I'd think about the offer and be in touch with the company if I wanted to buy their meat. He then tried to insult me by saying "oh I didn't realize you didn't have any money, it's ok if you don't have any money I just didn't know that". Then he said he would be back next time he's out here. Whoever this wannabe warrior sales bro is he legit looked like a 90's boy band member on crack. Most importantly, the meat he showed looked terrible compared even in comparison to what I buy at Walmart. If these people knock at your door do not answer or call the authorities.

As someone else stated, I had a similar experience.."As has been stated in other reviews, came to my door in a sketchy looking van. It was just me and my kids at home so I pulled down the screen door instead of opening it and I made sure it was locked. He wasn't super pushy, he took no for an answer. Still it was pretty creepy. They might want to invest in some uniforms and better vans."That is all. Very concerned and almost reported to police.

Great steaks, good prices for good quality meat will be back... don't listen to all the naysayers... they just don't know how to cook

Pushy. Aggressive selling practices. Wouldn't take no for an answer. Stalked/waited for me inside and outside my workplace. It was disruptive/embarrassing. Wouldn't take NO for an answer! Do not open your door to them!!!

Employees randomly came knocking at our door while I wasn't home and tried to pressure my wife into buying "discounted meat and fish." They were in a broken down, suspicious looking van. Any company this unprofessional doesn't deserve your business.

Why someone would not question some push salesmen out of a derelict-looking white van rolling up to sell meat out of the cooler is beyond me. Bottom line is everything about this place appears questionable at the least. Salesmen in hoodies and hunting clothes knock on your door with this case of meat they're selling for 470 dollars (after some research I found out that it appears the salesmen out and about can charge whatever they want why others online get charged 150 dollars). The "meat" I was shown when compared to photos on the facebook page looks exactly the same. Literally every cut looks EXACT in terms of size and shape. Any pit boss worth their salt knows that every cut does not look the same. As I was trying to politely say no to spending 500 dollars on a case of meat that I didn't even have room for I figured at least one item possibly had potential - the pack of burgers (I would not in my right mind attempt to cook any of these "steak cuts" for anyone other human being). After numerous attempts to try and get this man to sell me just the pack of burgers I was told "we don't really do that we sell packages." Really? You appear desperate to sell me product but when I say I'd pay part of it that is an issue? "Salesman" was also weary about showing me the crinkled and creased pamphlet he was grasping in the cold December air, in which included the prices for each individual package of meat. Another thing - why is it that the menu/price lists for meats and packages are not readily available on a brochure or on the facebook page? On facebook they are visible constantly commenting about sending private messages with package and price details. EVERYTHING about this place causes you to QUESTION. If you are such a quality butcher business wouldn't I be aware of you and be able to physically come to your shop and purchase? Not at this place. Believe it or not few people want your "free delivery" or cold calls on our door steps. I bought my property to be left alone. My porch is an area of solitude to relax. It is not to hear your desperate sales pitches.To conclude, I did get the "salesman" to sell me just the pack of burgers so that he would finally leave. I made my dog (who routinely eats garbage) a burger patty and even he refused to eat in accordance with several of the online reviews I have found of this product. Pitched the remainder in the trash. Please do not come onto my property trying to peddle meat. I will be getting into touch with my local borough to see if this place has proper licensing to be going door to door in my area.1. Sketchy mode of transportation.2. "Salesmen" in attire that boomers that sit in bars watching KDKA news on Tuesdays wear.3. Prices/lists/menus not readily available.4. Storage of product in sketchy delivery vehicles may be possible health department infringements.5. Dog that eats garbage refused to eat product

They keep showing up at my office so I thought I'd give then a try. There was a bit of sticker shock with $400 for the 2 boxes of meat/fish. All of the steaks were small and not very well butchered, lots of sinew, tendons and random slivers of bone. Very large chunks if fat inside the ones that were supposed to be the loin steaks. The The fish wasn't bad but very big inconsistency in filet sizes. It's not to the point of inedible as we will likely finish all of the food but don't expect restaurant quality and we definitely won't be ordering again.
