Certainly a busy little restaurant during weekdays downtown. Always a nice selection of fresh hot Indian food, lprepared at a commissary offsite. Very reasonable prices and they have daily specials. And if you have the "Edge" card from Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership, a little extra off your bill.Very clean little casual dining area and friendly staff.

In the depressing wasteland that is downtown Pittsburgh lunch options, Sree's is an oasis of consistency and class. The food is southern Indian - Hyderabadi to be exact - and while I have no idea how well it represents the cuisine since it's the only Hyderabadi food I've ever eaten, I can tell you that their cooking is always delicious and satisfying. I've eaten here quite a few times and they have never let me down. There are always a variety of tasty vegan options, a couple of savory chicken dishes, sometimes fish. Samosas are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays, occasionally other days. The samosa days alternate with a biryani special (Mon-Wed-Fri). Portions are generous, prices reasonable.

I've lived close by to Sree's for a while and it's been on my list of places to try. I just got around to it today. Monday through Friday they are open for lunch and have their lunch offerings for each day posted on their website. All of their vegetable options are vegan and I loved that it was noted right on the website. Everything that I tried was delicious! It was also very reasonably priced. Everyone there was also very friendly and willing to help guide me through ordering my meal. If you're downtown for lunch and need a good option this is a great spot to try! I'm looking forward to coming back on a Tuesday or Thursday to get the samosas as well!

They've moved to 808 penn Avenue. I've always heard such good things about this place. Pretty good. This place is so cheap and affordable. Super vegan friendly. The server was an Indian woman who was very generous with the portions, and very kind.It wasn't quite what I'm used to eating when I go to an Indian buffet, but I still found most all of the items that she gave us, tasty. Warning, if you go right before closing, they might not have certain food items left to serve, so you may have to settle on less options or vegan options when you wanted meat, or meat when you wanted vegan.

Comforting & flavorful are understatements. I walk past the Sree's sign everyday and finally decided to stop in one day. Authentic Indian food is so hard to come across in Pittsburgh! Mrs. Sree's restaurant reminded me of walking into my Nana's for Sunday dinner. Food has so much more purpose and value when the chef herself is serving you. Although it was filling, I ate some for lunch and then saved some for later to make sure to I ate every bite of her delicious hard work. The menu is very friendly to my vegan and gluten free friends. That is, because 30% of India's population are vegetarian. The spices add so many extra benefits to each bite. The turmeric is anti-inflammatory, ginger is great for the gut, and cinnamon serves as a great anti-oxidant. I will definitely be getting food here more often. Indoor seating only is available.

I always knew Srees was downtown and am so bummed it's taken me years to finally check it out for lunch. Oh my, so very very delicious!! The owner (Mrs. Srees perhaps by the looks of another review) is the sweetest woman and the minute you open the door she shoots up ready to serve you. The lunch offerings are always on rotation so lots of varying options, plus she always has a vegan lunch option(s). Tuesday and Thursday you can get her samosas for just $1.50 and are they so delicious, chock full of potatoes, veggies and spices. The price is great around $6.99 for a very large offering. Served over rice and comes with a fabulous piece of fresh naan bread. Her homemade hot sauce is some of the best I've ever had. No frills, the simplest place inside but the food is delicious. Another awesome (vegan) lunch option in the city.

This place is still open! I used to eat at the one in the square (when it was there) when I worked in Oxford Center One. Then at the one next to Duquesne Light in that little building. Quick and cheap and actually pretty good. Four stars cuz it turned me on to Indian food over 20 years ago!

I definitely did enjoy the food here and I would not hesitate to come here again! I felt the price was reasonable considering the fact that I was not able to finish my lunch serving and gave the rest to my brother and it was enough to fill us both up! What I especially love is that they know exactly how they prepared each dish, the list of ingredients they used, and that they can explain to you exactly what you are getting even though English is not their first language. They are very accommodating and have both vegan and non-vegan options as well as gluten-free and non-gluten-free options (and they know what those terms mean and can identify which dishes go into those guidelines). They also let you taste test everything before deciding what options you truly want to go with which is really helpful since some of the options are a lot tastier than others. The fact that they didn't make me feel like I was being too much with this is big deal because I really was asking several layers of questions and they were very patient and actually enjoyed explaining their cooking process to me which made me feel that much more welcome coming here again. I also love that they are constantly changing their menu so there is always something new to try. My absolute favorite dish here and one that I wish they served more (which I definitely recommend trying if you can) is the "Okra and Peanut dish" which is not a dish I have seen at a lot of similar style restaurants here in Pittsburgh. The level of spice is perfect and I love the way my breath smelled for the rest of the day

Quick cafeteria style lunch place. Reasonable prices and reasonably tasty. Seating is uncomfortable - low chairs with high tables and some folding chairs. There is no decor.

Food taste stale, and old. It's not worth $10. Every dish tastes and looks alike . They hand you half tortilla instead of a chapati or Naan , which is what is part of Indian meal , but not at this place.
